Well... as much as i hate to I've gotta sell my Celica. Just to be honest up front, its not running. I sucked water in and the motor will only turn 1/4 in either direction. If you live in the San Antonio area I know a guy that can rebuild it cheap or put in a new motor cheap but i cant do that because i have too many vehicles and one must go. That being said, its got 224XXX on the clock, its a stick shift, it ran great didn't leak any fluids. cold ac Its got 4 new yokohama 580 tires, i had the front suspension worked over recently lots of new parts in there. i redid the exhaust its kinda loud but ill throw in some parts for that that i never installed. new magnaflow catalytic converter, new o2 sensors, K&N filter, new ceramic brake pads, new belts inside the cover and out, new water pump, new tensioner and idler, new 6 puck clutch, new aluminum flywheel, new vinyl rear window, pulstar plugs, replacement 5th gear for better gas milage(an idea i got from this forum not installed yet), urethane sway bar bushings front and rear, engine mount insterts(also an idea from this forum not installed yet) now for some more cons. Ive lightened the car a bit This could be a pro or a con the front bumper is cosmetically damaged, there are no airbags(it was that way when i got it) the transmission needs new synchros in 3rd and 5th(5th is included just not installed) its still totally drivable transmission-wise it could use a total sound system re do. it plays but its crummy antenna needs to be extended by hand but its easy to do the carpet is in bad shape I know its not running but it has alot of new parts and a want a 1000 bucks and im only gonna come down if i get desperate and i aint there yet:) let me know if you have any questions. thanks. update. i have the pics on my profile (thanks for the tip, guess i wasnt usin' my noggin) |

Hi all, and Merry Christmas! was looking at a diagram of the alternator and noticed that its a 3 wire alternator. does anyone know if the voltage regulator is in the alternator, or if the ECU does this job? just curious about how the car works. |

i decided against getting a header for it. i heard it only helps at high revs and makes gas mileage worse. its stock until after the resonator except i deleted the second cat and my first cat might be slightly higher flow than the original. if i delete the stocker and put the vibrant there the size increase will be a little sooner (they dont even make a 2 inch one) i think ill take my stock resonator off, put the 2 vibrants on without the glass pack and see what happens. if its still too loud i can put the glass pack back on the end. i wonder if part of the problem is that the amount of pipe after the glasspack is like 6 inches. mabey they need more pipe behind them? i tried covering the exhaust halfway like a halfmoon at the end. not much difference in sound. |

ok i looked at my new "resonators" they are built similar to my stock resonators but they do have materiel inside. there is no echo if i knock on the outside of them. so according to galcobar's description they are actually mufflers. the real questions are: should i keep or lose the stock resonator and should i keep or lose the glass pack? ive also heard the glasspacks resonate as well but not necessarily in a good way. the stock resonator always made the car sound aggressive its just a lot worse without the baffled muffler. mabey it should go? is the glass pack making it worse? I would love to try all the different combinations but i only have so much money and time. |

So I made my own exhaust on my GT. After the stock resonator i upped the diameter of the pipe to 2.25 then it goes into a long glasspack muffler then a downpipe just before the rear axle. I seem to be getting better gas mileage, so i want to keep my flow through design, but its so LOUD. I ordered 2 vibrant resonators I heard one is good and two is better and they are flow through. The question is....Should I build the system resonator-resonator-glasspack, resonator-glasspack-resonator, glasspack-resonator-resonator, or just leave the glasspack out? |

actually i read that if you try to put too much resistance on one sensor the ecu will get mad but i figure just a little split up between 3 will go unnoticed. im trying to go for gas milage. ill try one thing at a time and see what happens. a have the torque app for my phone so i can see engine data in real time. if anything goes wrong ill know i just wanted to see if anyone knows something i dont. like how the timing is actually adjusted. is it an electromechanical linkage? |

ok so after some thinking and research i realized it cant be done with the belt. that's for valves not spark. ive been told that i cant put on the older distributor (is this wrong?) usually putting the pot on the ait increases advance but also increases fuel. i can also try putting a pot on the MAP and the coolant temp sensor. ill probably do all three so i can play with it as much as i can. there is a device for o2 sensors called the EFIE which helps you control fuel and is recommended alot. i think with all of this working in conjunction after alot of trial and error (and maybe some 93 octane) i may start getting somewhere. any thoughts? has anyone done any of this on there celica? |

hey everyone. ive got a 99 5sfe celica. as many of you know this means i have a non adjustable distributer. ive been told the computer adjusts the timing. so my questions are: how does the computer adjust the timing? what sensors does it use to read the timing? does anyone know how the sensor or ecu does what it does in the area of timing? my goal is to "trick" the computer into advancing my timing a bit for better highway mileage and maybe some more power. surely there has to be a way to do it. ive heard i could do it with the timing belt, but then i heard i couldnt. any input greatly appreciated. thanks |

I would like to be able to have more control over my vehicle (because not being able to play with stuff is just wrong) so my question is: would it be possible to convert my 99 gt distributor to the older adjustable type or would i be better off using some sort of computer to play with my timing? my only other option would be to change my timing when i do my timing belt. but this has lots of limitations of course. my main goal is raising my mpgs. |

hello all. i saw on another topic that a member reported that with the ebay header his mileage went down. has anyone else found this to be true? has anyone kept the stock manifold but changed the rest? if so what did that do for fuel economy/performance? any input greatly appreciated, thanks. |

Yeah Ive been using it for over a month now if not longer. I could not be more happier with it. The difference in throttle response is pretty huge and I don't have any issues with engagement or rev matching like I've read about from Fidanza owners. And this is with an unsprung six puck disk too. is the flywheel you have from f1 the aluminum or the chro moly |

hmm i definetley dont want my mileage to go down especially not highway. would leaving the stock manifold on but having the rest be more free flowing be beneficial for mileage or just performance or not much at all? |

so for a 5sfe would the ebay header(at this point considered to be a mid rpm range upgrade only) increase highway mileage since highway cruising is at the middle of rpm range? if so. what if there was a way to restrict it temporarily for low rpm power? or would a restriction not be enough would the primaries have to be shorter? |

wow so much information to absorb i have a 5sfe 99 gt. im trying to determine whether or not the stock header is be better for cruising or fast takeoffs or is it a middle ground or does it just suck. i want to replace my first cat with a new one possibly hi flow but get rid of the second since the computer doesn't know its there anyway. if i do get an aftermarket header, do they all delete the first cat? im also trying to shed a little weight. im hoping that an aftermarket header will weigh significantly less than the stock cast iron one. any input on that? who has dyno charts to prove gains with their header? |

heh heh heh....222222.2 is close enough. if i wanted to do the synchros myself how hard would it be? im pretty mechanically inclined and was planning to take the trans out to do other work anyway The faster i shift the more it wants to make grindy noise. also if i dont totally slam the clutch pedal down it'l grind for certain gears |

actually i was thinking an airsoft gun or super soaker but id prolly still get in trouble with the cops around here. i like those rca jacks in that pic. mabey someone will know about this problem. when i shift sometimes its like the gears dont mesh right. i guess it could be synchros but could it also be loose shift linkage? |

i liked everyone's shifters (well i wouldn't have the bubbly "dildo" shifter but i like that y'all have the balls to do it) i got pulled over once and the trooper instantly noticed mine. after asking me about it and lecturing me about having my front license plate on my windshield he let me go. i guess just copy and paste the link http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...mp;l=bcd288394c |
