I have an answer to your problem of making it legal to drive on the streets, but not too many people have access to this. You may be able to with a good bribe, though wink.gif

Any licensed dealer in the United States has possession of several license plates with permanent tags that can be put on ANY car, ANYWHERE, without registration, VIN check, or anything. I have met one guy who imported his Evo V here when he moved from Japan on business. I was in Texas at the time for a family reunion and spotted it in a Walmart parking lot in San Antonio. I saw it was RHD, and I saw the guy walking toward it, so we talked some.

He basically said he put all his stuff in one container on a barge, all his personal items AND his car, and had it shipped to the FTZ in Mexico. The were no customs, so he could get it all off the boat with no problem. He had his brother in law, who is a trucker who frequently goes across the border, along with his wife, meet him at the port and they loaded his car and all his stuff into the trailer. They weren't checked by customs going back into Texas and he said it wouldn't have mattered anyhow, they would've just seen a bunch of personal items for a house since his car was covered and had stuff piled on top of it.

He had made a contact with a private dealer in Texas prior to shipping the car (his brother in law found one in desperate need of money), and arranged to pay him $2000 for the tag and his silence. He's had it on the road for a couple years now and has had NO problems whatsoever.

If any of you are able to get a plate, hook us all up wink.gif
