Hey what's up everyone, quick question, does anyone happens to know if the Vert has the same frame rails as the Coupe/Hatch? I tried looking thru the posts and couldn't find anything to shed light. I know the Vert was a coupe before getting hacked up n what not, but did it retain the same frame rail position, was there any additional bracing added to the underbody that now makes it different than a Coupe/Hatch? Any info is greatly appreciated,,

Skyline drive is a painnnnful experience...

Much more entertaining roads that don't require 35mph speed limits and traffic.

Why don't yall join us for the Toyota meet next saturday?
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=92157

Its not all too painful lol,, I have weekends off so I can join up with you guys for the Toyota meet out in Fredericksburg.

Hi 6GC fam,

Aren’t you guy glad we’re done with winter? I am,, well now that we’re going to have warmer days, I wanted to coordinate with you guys in the area and set up a cruise thru Skyline Drive in Front Royal. I haven’t been thru here in ages, but how fun would it be to meet up with other 6gc members and kick back and enjoy life a little bit right? So Skyline Drive runs aprox 105 miles or 3hours more or less (not that we have to do the whole ride thru). It runs north and south along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Shenandoah National Park, so it’s a pretty drive. (I’ve only been maybe a quarter of the way thru). There are 4 entrances. We would enter thru Front Royal at U.S. 340, and get off at one of the following: Thornton Gap at U.S. 211, Swift Run Gap at U.S. 33, or Rockfish Gap at I-64 / U.S. 250.

Being that I have not come thru there in a while, I’m not sure if any rules have changed. I believe the entrance fee is still $10. It is low speed, 35/40 so it’s nothing crazy, but ideal for us convertible guys. I think that they don’t particularly like large car groups. So to avoid any problems (cars from other groups increasing the number) we may have to keep it strictly Celica’s. For now the date is going to be Saturday May 3rd which hopefully is enough time for everyone to clear their schedules.

Skyline Drive Cruise May 3rd 2014 (could change if too many people can’t make that date)
Meet at 10am, and depart at 10:30am.
465 South St, Front Royal VA 22630 (KMart parking lot- there’s places to stop for breakfast in the area if you need to)

So, if you’re interested add you’re name to the list, and send me a pm so we can share numbers. If you are coming down from MD, I can meet up somewhere near Manassas and we can travel down together. Hopefully you guys can come out,,,

Attendees:

1: Vic (rain, shine, blizzard, end of the world, zombie apocalypse- doesn’t matter)

2:

I also spliced the wires and never got any airbag issue... SRS light comes on with the key turned, stays on for about 5 s, and goes off... just as it did on the 4-spoke wheel.

Using this harness might be a good idea if you feel that you will someday switch back to your stock wheel.

I appreciate the feedback guys, thanks.

ok it depends on what u want. you can get this adapter, you can splice the harness or you can buy the clock ring.

the clock ring part n0 84306-12070 it came in various cars and can be had for cheap en ebay and yards. ravs, camrys, some lexus.

I am going to get the appropriate part because just in case I ever sell the car, but mostly ill be more content.

Thanks for the reply back. I was reading that those that did this swap were getting the SRS airbag light on right, and were having to reset the airbag ECU to get the code to clear. I haven't connected the airbag yet,, but whether I go with splicing the wires or the harness adapter, if i get the airbag light on I can just remove the code with a OBD II scanner correct, to eliminate it,,, or do either way I need to reset the airbag ECU no matter what route I choose?

Just calculating my next step lol.

you don't need to splice any wires just buy this adapter

have to order from here not your dealer ..

http://toyota.spx.com/detail.aspx?id=407&p=173&g=21

Just thought I'd update this with my own findings, I was able to order this part off of http://www.handsontools.com/; prior to ordering I emailed to confirm part is in stock - part is in stock and will ship within 48 hrs. Part costs $16 on this site, but shipping is a bit high at $10 for UPS ground.

Edit: sub-"herness"? lol

Hey whats up everyone,, got a quick question, I am in the middle of this swap,, got the cruise control squared away so I'm just left with the airbag connection. For those of you who have done this swap with this subharness,,,does it really make a difference, meaning no srs airbag light on? I don't mind splicing wires n what not but if i know that this subharness will not give me any code issues off the bat then I'd feel more comfortable about shelling out $40 bucks,, (shipping is pricey) Any input at all greatly appreciated, thanks again for all you who have contributed to this topic.

I've bought a transmission from them. No issues. UPS required the social or biz ID.

Yeah actually the crate came in today with no problems at all,, ups freight. Well actually they forgot to include the driveshaft but they guy I talked to, Moe, said they will check the storage tomorrow and get back to me,, but other than that yeah no problems at all. So what this means is that hopefully in the next few months I can start a thread about my project,, a turbo awd swap,, will be one rare celi indeed.

I dont see a reason why they'll need any of that info just to get that stuff shipped to you.

Quick update, so I found out that if i can provide a business address and a 9 digit business ID number then I don't have to provide a social and I don't have to pay additional shipping fees. Works out great because I have a friend has his own business so i can have it sent there. Apparently when importing large items (things that typically can't fit in a mail box) the shipper needs to get verification from the buyer that shows they are who they say they are -- to clear US Customs. If the item is worth $2400 or more you need to provide a social, but even if it doesn't equal $2400 many companies importing to the US will still ask for a Social Security Number. (which is quite risky) So, the best thing to do is if you have a friend with a business who has a business ID number,, then theres no need to provide a social. Hopefully this helps.

I wouldn't jump at that right away. You may want to do some research before buying something from a company that asks for photo id and ssn.
https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/197/search/1
Take a look at the link i provided and i think you'll find some answers and other options to giving out information like that. Like applying for an EIN/Business tax number or filing a CBP Form 5106. May take extra time but i think it would be worth the wait knowing your SSN isn't in someone else's hands.

Thats an option also. Im gonna do more research because yeah its too much of a risk. Its better to be safe and cautious.

mmmh, never had that before, the fact they want your social, i would be very careful.

sign up for lifelock, its 500 a year, and 100000 guarantee. then you can give them your SS..

i would look at other companies. They probably will screw you with custom charges and brokerage fees...

i would look somewhere else....

Yeah i heard of that company before. What il probably do is sign up with them and then proceed with the transaction. Thanks for the reply.

Hello everyone. I needed some opinions and was hoping perhaps other members might have experience with this. I am interested in buying this from ebay (link below). The company is in Canada and going by the feedback they seem pretty legit. My concern is that they require me to provide my social security number along with picture ID. Ive read online that US Customs sometimes requires it depending on what the item is. Has anyone had this type of experience, I'm I just worriying too much? Any feedback appreciated thanks.

Thanks for detailing your progress, i'm also planning on a turbo/awd swap. Quick question, being that the gt4 control arms cause the front wheels to be half an inch forward is there a way to correct this? Thanks
