As some of you may have seen, I’m going back to the Supra. Which means... it’s time to sell the celica.

NO, I WILL NOT PART IT OUT! I am posting this here first until Sunday when the ad will go on Craigslist... so if you know anyone looking, feel free to share the ad.

FS - 1999 Celica GT auto w/ approximately 185k Miles. $2500 w/o additional parts. $3000 w/ additional parts. Clean Texas Title

JDM tail lights already installed

Additional parts include...
TRD 3 point Strut Tower Brace (used)
Megan Coilovers (used)
Authentic SS-III Spoiler w/ riser blocks (used)
OEM 2-post spoiler gaskets (new)
Fiberglass replica rear window spoiler (used)

Current State: The only issue currently is the registration is out and I need to charge the battery. It’s probably still under warranty, but I don’t have the receipt. The only reason it’s dead is because I don’t drive it that often. Used to be my daily driver, but after I got the truck I wanted to do the engine swap and I’ve been so busy I never got around to it. She runs strong, gets great gas mileage and has cold ac. She probably needs some power steering fluid too. She could use a good paint job as well. Let’s see... she has a small dent in the passenger fender that can most likely be pushed out. (I was going to replace them with gt4 fenders). She has some rust on the top part of the hatch, and the tint on the hatch glass is jacked. Those are all the issues that I know of. Tires are all basically new, and I live in Katy Tx.

Remember, she’s a ‘99.... she’s not perfect, but she could be!

Except for now there's no money to buy Celica parts. tongue.gif For buying a new vehicle I think you got a good deal, your truck must've been his sale needed to meet quota and/or get a huge bonus.

Well, I paid cash for the truck... so since I dont have a truck note... Ill be able to save for the celica parts. tongue.gif I think a big portion of the "deal" I got was because I went outside of Harris county to purchase the vehicle. The sales tax in Walker county is 2% lower than it is here in Harris county. Other than that... I think you might be right.

Today I am going to get an alarm installed on my new truck. I know, I know... I could have rebuilt the Celica 3 times over for what I paid for the Truck, but honestly... I was getting tired of hauling the kayaks with the Scion. lol!

I got it a week ago. IMO, I feel like I got a hell of a deal. I did my research, called around and got the lowest price OTD (out the door) from several dealerships. My original plan was to get a SR5 model with the bare necessities, but it didn't work out the way I planned. Mainly because I had to order it like that from the factory and it was taking too long. And thank god that it did.

While I was at Fort Bend Toyota mere minutes from going into finance to sign on a 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD Off-Road 4x4 for 44,500 OTD... I got a call from Gene Shannon at Atkinson Toyota in Madisonville. He told me that he could beat that deal, so I told him to talk fast. He spoke with his manager and came back with an offer. 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD Off-Road 4x4 w/ pocketed fender flares, and leather for 41,000 OTD. The salesmen at Fort Bend Toyota thought it was bull**** until I showed them a picture of a written offer. I left, and immediately went to Atkinson Toyota, where I added the 7yr-100k mile warranty and walked out paying 42,391. IMO, I got a great deal. It was the end of November, the Wednesday after Black Friday, and a 2016... not 2017 with 104 miles after being transported overnight.

Now... I have something to haul Celica parts in. WHOOT!

I would be down for a Texas meetup, but since DEATH left the scene... it has been really hard to get the Texas members to commit to anything.

Nice trd strut brace!
Thoughts on the strut brace? have you noticed fairly noticeable increase in handling at high speeds?

want to know your personal opinion and hopefully not just placebo reaction haha. thanks

I was weary of spending a lot on a strut brace, but knew that if I were to get one... this was the one I wanted. IMO this is a true 3-Point strut brace. The ST205 "typical" strut brace is a 2.5-point strut brace. I have noticed increased rigidity and handling at higher speeds, mostly while taking turns. Here in Houston, there is a swooping right hand turn when going from I-10 Eastbound to 610 South (headed towards the galleria). Before the strut brace taking the corner at 60 was somewhat sketchy. However, I recently took the corner at about 70-75, and it was much easier to hold my line.

with that being said, I still have a lot to do with my suspension. I have a vibration in the steering from an unknown source. It happens very slightly all the time, but is mostly noticeable when I exceed 70mph. My plan is to replace the motor mounts, springs, struts, and also take a look at the axles. However, I will be replacing the axles with my swap... so if I find the source of the vibrations being the axles, I will simply wait until then do fix the problem.

Updated engine bay with the new TRD strut brace

Also, the proper bolts to be used on the center connection of the strut brace and fire wall are M10X2.5cm or M10X1.25in and uses a 13mm socket head.

Just so everyone is aware... the bolting for the middle connection point on the TRD 3-point strut tower brace (front) is M10 x 2.5cm or M10 X 1.25in (Home Depot for $1.65 for a 2pk). This will use a 13mm socket head.

I purchased ImportRacer's TRD strut tower brace. I am trying to install it now, but have no idea what bolt size to use on the middle two holes that attach the brace to the firewall. Anyone know?

Hey All,

I have never seen this done on here before and I am sure it will be frowned upon, but at this point... I guess you could say IDGAF. So, I have been toying around with the idea to modify my celica since before I even bought it. I'm not an idiot and can read through the threads and watch the videos, but I'm not confident enough in my mechanic skills to take on such a drastic task solo... especially on my DD.

With that being said, Would there be anyone in the Houston area that has done a GT4 exterior swap (Front Bumper, Hood, Front Fenders, Headlights) that would be willing to help me complete mine? I am willing to pay for your experience and expertise (within reason).

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks,

Brock

Unfortunately I am going to have to bow out of the Group Buy. I was laid off today, and I am not sure I will even get a severance. I have the money in savings, but with the way the job market is... it looks like I will be using my savings to survive while I find another job. I am very sorry for being forced to back out. I am greatly disappointed because I know there wont be another Group Buy for a long time if ever. I actually wish I could delete this message, but I am forcing myself to send it reluctantly.

If there is anyone in the Houston/Dallas/Austin/San Antonio area looking to get in on this... We can split shipping to my house and I can meet up with you to deliver parts.

Found this ad on CL yesterday. Told the seller about 6gc.net. He messaged me today to see if I knew anyone who might be interested. I figured I would post the ad here for him.

PS... He will take $3800... He is moving.

If you get an order going, you can count me in for...

1.) TRD Wing Fiberglass (no cf center available yet) - $229.70
2.) TRD style side skirts - $143.60 USD
3.) Erebuni style front lip (depending on price)

price added to the list, check it and let me know and I will add you to the list

Again, if we get 6 or 7 people on this, shipping cost for each person (depending on how many items they get) could be as low as $15
(I have yet to figure out how to incorporate the smaller items being bought and their shipping cost cuts, any suggestions welcome)

Lets do it! Add me in for all three.
