Anyone heard from him lately? I sent a email to inquire about getting a kit and never got a response.

I sent him the inquiry for a partial buy (not complete kit, just few bits here and there) a few weeks ago and still didn't get reply...

Huh, if your cable snapped that could be quite a challenge... Some time ago I was replacing the hood latch and I forgot to attach the cable to the hood release, real pain in the ass.

My best guess is that you try to get to the trunk latch through the back seats. You'll need to get that rear plastic panel off, hopefully it is possible with the trunk closed. Behind that you can see the trunk release mechanism with a lever and cable attached to it, if you pull that you get your trunk to open.

Next step is finding out what's a matter and repairing/replacing the parts. I suggest you find out if there are any celicas at the local junkyards, cheapest way to replace such parts.

I'll give it a quick google.
Look at this meanwhile:

Here are a few pictures from Maxi Tuning built Celica, Spanish, if I'm not mistaken.
Not sure what headlighs were used, but if you decide to do such modification to your car, be prepared to pay more than your car is currently worth.

I think the rear seats are easily replaced with the ones from 7gen... Use the search phrase "site:www.6gc.net 7gen rear seats" in Google and check the topics, you'll find everything you need to know about it, looks like a perfect fit.

I doubt any other rear seats would fit, not even sure if I ever heard about AEM rear seats.

I also have a rattle, but as it turns out, it's not the door cards but the speakers. Original speakers that are so worn out the membrane is rattling.

You can remove the door cards without removing the power windows module. And when the cards are removed, it's easy to push it out.

Advice for removal: pay attention to the bolts. The two bolts that are covered with plastic have a bit different head than the other ones at the bottom of the panel. Same bolts, but slightly different heads.

I'll have to take the door apart and get a closer look at it
Ty

No need to, just take a flat head screwdriver and pop that ellipse shaped part at the bottom (be gentle so you don't crack the plastic)... From there on out you just unplug the wiring and take the thing apart. But beware, most of these switches have springs inside them that will pop out of there as soon as you open the switch. Spent quite some time searching for these springs all over the room myself...

But then as The_enD mentioned, you should have two switch positions for rolling down the driver's window - the first is manual (just a gentle push), the second is auto (full push). Never found a problem with this, even more - I'd like to have the same function on my passenger's side.

I've been thinking about upgrading my cheap AEM alarm my own way (make my own alarm unit), with siren inside the cabin and car horn for outside noise. I don't think anyone here would steal a '97 Celica, but when I get a proper sound system, it might happen.

Good places for a killswitch I can think of:
- under the front ashtray (maybe there's room for a small switch)
- inside the rear ashtray (behind the arm rest)
- inside glovebox (a bit more obvious, but can be hidden quite good)
- under the dash (the most obvious, can be hidden, but probably the first place he'd look)

Spotted a yellow 6gc with a bodykit that I don't know what it's called. Nice to see the Celica still making it in the new movies still. Lol. It was spotted at 32:20 in this movie. Movie is called "Racing Love".

http://youtu.be/5AN_CerQFr0?t=32m19s

I've seen that celica before - in some widebody topic here (malpaso posted it). Its a custom job. There seem to be alot of widebody celicas in Thailand.

Yes, I intend to sand/polish it, but did not have the time at the moment. Probably when I get some decent knob, thinking about MOMO knobs.

Did something different instead of shifter boot and I like the way it feels. Now I need to get some ball-shaped shifter knob, thinking about a shortshifter as well.

Thanks, this will definitely come in handy some day... When I was swapping the steering wheel I spent about an hour messing around these plugs and ended up soldering wires together smile.gif

I went for the black/white color scheme, I understand why not everyone likes this and most of people would say it's too much, but I like it. Here's a feeler:

This could be a hijacking webpage... Check Chrome extensions for any suspicious extensions that do not belong there + go to Remove/Add Programs in win7 and check there as well. These things can be annoying and a bitch to remove.

Had some time to waste, so I tried myself in the signature making, here's the results:

If you decide to use it, download it and reupload it, as I'll probably delete the photo from my photobucket

Btw, great picture/celica, imagine that was a targatop, it would look awesome

I repainted my summer wheels in some black-green color combination + put them on brand new set of Toyo Proxes T1-R tires. I think it turned out better than I expected, I'm not quite good with paint gun, but I'm getting there.

The downside now is that I am disappointed with my ride height everytime I see the car. Hopefully I'll be able to spare some cash for the coilovers in the near future.

In the sun:

In the shade:

Bonus - nobody can ever say that my car is not roomy enough (eight tires inside the car):

Well, if you never wreck you'll never need it anyway. tongue.gif I wouldn't remove mine, but I'm not afraid of driving a car that doesn't have one either. In some instances the airbag causes injuries that'd otherwise not had happened, it just depends on the scenario.

Still better if the airbag explosive burns your hands, than if your head becomes one with your steering wheel smile.gif

I bought mine in the summer of 2012 after I did this with my VW Golf mkIV

I have always liked the 6gen Celica and I gave it a go. Unfortunately I needed the car desperately, I waited almost 6 months if a GT were to show up on our market, so I was forced to buy an ST. But I regret nothing.

You can get engine cleaners (foam spray) where you just spray everything, leave it for a few minutes and wash everything down with a hose. But you must put a bag over the alternator and battery (maybe even better to remove the battery), the rest of the instructions are usually detailed on the can. Tried it once, but it didn't really do much...

Next time I'll try with some regular degreaser for the kitchen.

Is that factory white leather? Or is rewrapped?

I highly doubt that's a factory option... Somebody just rewrapped the top and bottom parts white, while the rest of it looks stock. I have similar plans with my 7gen wheel, but just the opposite color theme smile.gif

Relocation of the battery to the passenger foot well?

Isn't having battery inside the cabin dangerous? I remember reading somewhere about some fumes. Also - if the car crashes, the battery can squirt acid all over your passenger.

If it is a safety hazard, I'd even avoid the trunk. Maybe try and squeeze it somewhere in the engine bay.

So I'm not the only one!

I don't know what the problem is... because the "diagrams removed" news is from 2009, so maybe it's some other diagrams that were available.

So this is your own product and not a DCW gauge cluster?

I created an account, but I still can't see the diagrams, so... not sure what the trouble is.

Sorry for the false alarm guys, let me know if anyone else can't see the diagrams.
