Found out that the 5th/reverse shaft is shot and the transmission will either need a rebuild or replacement.

That would be the car I'm looking at. I just figured that it would be pretty cheap and easy to fix the trans issue and have a nice running daily so I can park my fun car. I used to own a '94 and miss having a Celica. Great cars to drive and last forever. I may see if I can talk him down since the car may need a new transmission or rebuild.

QUOTE (Box @ Aug 21, 2014 - 2:33 AM) *
5th and reverse are together on the same shaft. There are a series of balls, springs, detents, and levers responsible for everything working. I'd imagine it's something like this responsible since it's both 5th and reverse. I wouldn't buy a car like this unless I was prepared to repair or replace the transmission. Yes it could be something simple like a cable or linkage, but I really wouldn't hold my breath on that. Odds are it's something like a ball and spring that sit on the detent, these are accessed from the outside of the transmission and someone trying to drain the transmission without knowing what they're looking for may accidentally remove one of these instead of the drain and fill plug. Which they're drastically different in size, but you'd be surprised.

Thanks for the info Box. Sounds like either the transmission would most likely need to be rebuilt or replaced. Of course the person selling the car I'm looking at had the clutch replaced recently, which leads me to believe that the shop that did it possibly screwed something up. Would it be better to have the trans rebuilt or just replace it?

I'm looking to buy a '99 GT with the same issue. Anybody find out what the issue might be? May determine if it's worth the trouble.

Hey Shawn. My name is Chris and I am a Circuit City Roadshop Installation Specialist. If I were you and wanting to do an amp install like what you're wanting Circuit City has a wiring kit that comes with everything and I mean EVERYTHING that you would need for a multiple amp install. I have the kit in my 94 Celica ST.

Here's the web address for the description of the kit:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Tsunami-Mul...roductDetail.do

This kit is perfect for what you need. Its also cheaper to get all of this in the kit than it is seperately.

I'm glad I was able to help an up and coming installer. If you have any questions just send me a PM and i will gladly answer any questions i can that you might have.

I have the blitz kit on my car. Take a look at my profile there are pictures of it. Word of advice...cut the fenders or mold...difficult to make the front look factory.

I have 172k on my celi and I haven't had any problems other than a little blue smoke out of the tail pipe on occasion. Transmission, engine, and suspension all running perfectly smooth. I love this car to death.

If you had the same problem that I had with a loud clunking noise in the back end then it may be the rear strut stabilizer bushings. After I replaced those I had no more noise in the back. I would check those to see if they are worn out. Its a $20 and half hour job.

Hey all I have both front and rear bumpers for sale. They are painted factory Toyota red and have almost all hardware. They came off of a 94 ST when I put the bodykit on. They are in excellent condition and I'm selling them for $150 a piece or $275 together + shipping charges.

I had the exact same problem as you and am getting desperate to know what could be done to sealing those gaps in the headlights.

I will have to agree with Pali Playa on this one. As an installer for Circuit City I would advise waiting for DEI systems to come back. I've had the same Viper system from DEI for 2 years and in 2 different cars. Not once have I had a problem with it and I installed it myself at work. My advice, listen to pali playa and wait for DEI systems.

I'm just gonna be blunt about this. Get a new amp and have a professional install it!

My story may not be that great but here goes anyway. At first I had my beautiful 1987 Toyota Supra (which I still own). Believe me this thing is incredible. Well one night I was challenged to a race and I was dumb enough to accept. I ended up doing 145 mph down a highway and spun a rod bearing so my car was down for about 3 months. I was then stuck driving a pontiac and did I hate it (Imports All The Way!!!!). Anyway I was always looking for another import to take over temporarily but then I saw it. It was the most beautiful machine I ever saw. It was a red 94 celica ST. I saw so much potential it was unreal. So I went to my folks for a loan and snatched it up before the other ten people that were looking at it got it. Its been 7 months since I bought it and i have a full stereo system with a 7" LCD screen in my dash. I have a Blitz body kit and shogun spoiler waiting to be applied and painted with the rest of the car this spring.

I did get the supra fixed after I had a jap-spec engine with 35-40,000 miles on it swapped in it and still own it but am trying to sell it. If anybody would be interested in buying it send me a message.

I found a really nice MkIV Supra spoiler and I didn't want to buy it w/o asking. Is the hatch on the Supra any different from the hatch on a Celica? If there is please let me know. Thanks.

Hey all,
I just bought a steering wheel for my Supra. However, now that I am selling it, I was wanting to know if the steering wheel that I bought for the Mk3 Supra would work for a 94 Celica ST. I was also wanting to know how difficult it would be to disable the airbag and install the new wheel if possible.

Thanks much.
