Sometimes my gas pedal can be kinda hard to press. It usually only happens when I'm taking off from a complete stop. I try to press lightly for a smooth take-off but nothing happens so I have to press harder and then the gas pedal finally gives and my engine revs making me look like an idiot that doesnt know how to drive stick. The pedal itself seems to be fine so I'm thinking it might be the throttle cable. What do you guys think?

I have the same problem and found that the TB linkage sticks to some sort of magnetic switch next to it. I haven't had time to play with it but I'll figure something out.
The wierd part is that it only does it in certain areas. When I'm in austin, it's hard to reproduce the problem but when I'm in mexico, it happens everytime in first gear. kindasad.gif

Here is a good option. It allows you to use the CD changer input as an AUX input.

Hello everyone!

I just got a nice 1999 Celica GT Convertable.  It has the 8 speaker stereo with the double DIN sized deck with CD/ Tape/ Radio.

Couple questions:

1. What are the specs on the deck and speakers?  Is this the same Deck that I think was in other 1995-1999 Toyotas that ran about 120 watts?

2. Does this deck have CD Changer controls?

3. Anyone been able to find a way to add an AUX input to the back of this deck in order to run an IPOD/ MP3?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

1. Your car comes with 2 amps but both are weak. Bypass them with a 4 channel amp if you wish to keep the stock head unit.

2. It does if you have the tape and CD double din.

Thanks for the replys! So it looks like earlier GTs got them.

The engine noise doesn't bother me, it's the paint I'm worried about.
I just bought the car about a month ago and after washing it a couple of times, the paint is very dull on the hood only. I waxed a corner of the hood and it was all better so hopefully that will restore the gloss.

Hello eveyone. Just wondering if the celicas came equipped with a hood liner/insulater. I noticed when it rained today smoke/steam forming on the hood with the water drops.

Thanks!

no, one is not missing, on my GT brakes, there's a bolt on the bottom of the caliper, but on top, it's a rubber grommet of some sort.

Just remove that one bolt and lift the caliper. You still need to remove 2 other bolts in order to remove the rotor and the pads behind the rotor.
