I know this thread is very old but Has anyone ever made longer studs on a 3rd gen 3SGTE? How much material is there under the holes where the studs actually go how do we know that there are no oil passages running through there I can seem to find any evidence that supports this but this seems like a good idea to do so the block is way thicker at the bottom and this along with the modified cooling system sounds like it could work for high boost applications.

Any links available as I cant find anyone who has done it and posted it ...

Yeah I tried all these site Know one seems to know What is best to do it suck and is very disappointing I dont know what to do with my block if I should just scrap it or just buy the 5s block and new forged pistons which is a shame cause I already have je 86.5mm pistons but I cant use them with the 5s block.

So this site isnt good anymore for race builds just the normal swaps I guess :S

I mean it sucks I have to go on an mr2 forum while I have a celica 6th gen what happened to this forum ?

Hey guys I am currently building a 3rd gen 3s engine and my only concern is the block cracking problem my Block is a 3s 1996 block it is the thicker reinforced block.
I am aiming for big HP (850WHP), but this block roumors are getting abit to old everyone says different thing about it use sleeves dont use sleeves use Hardblok dont use it, leave the bore standard... alot of mislead info

Can anyone out there share with me what I should be doing with my block should I sleeve it or not the bore I am going for is 86.5mm I have had someone tell me its not safe to go above 650 with this bore this person uses sleeves and has no probs but I have other freinds stating that the sleeve will still crack so basically I dont know who to belive .

I have spent thousands on parts I dont want it all to go to ****s after all this money spent only weak spot i found is this block issue so please anyone out there running big hp on a 3S share with me what I need to do.

Also I would like to use the 3s block I dont wanna use the 5s!!!

building a 600whp 3sgte is really not a big deal, or somthing thats overly hard to do, and can be done with off the shelf parts.

may i ask why your wanting a twin turbo setup, on a motor thats designed and works best with a single?

a properly built motor, 2000cc id injectors, 264 or 272 cams and adjustable gears, intake and exhaust manifolds, a precision 6262 turbo, and a properly tuned ems will get you to 600whp pretty easily without much hassle.
check out some of the build threads over on mr2oc, there are quite a few guys who've built 600+whp setups that are very easily replicatable.

Agree ! I am currently doing a setup exactly like the one you mentioned but have 1000cc injectors, all you need is the cash and it can be done real easily.

Cant wait to finish it I am aiming for 700whp and the only thing that might hold me back is thhe turbo .

its already in FWD config, you just need to move the linkage to the back side, just a few parts

how is it already in FWD config, if he needs to move the linkage, which is what is required for FWD use? lol

your also gonna need the shifter cable bracket from a v6 camry or solara, ST205 mounts and brackets, and shifter cables.

do u have pics of the parts i need?
