Ok well I'm doing some research on things before I go buy a 5th gen or 6th gen which I prefer. I'm planning for a project car and it seems to me to get a better in expenses is just get a 5th gen All-Trac. But in the other hand the 6th gen is much better in looks and will be better in performance, just the thing is the expenses. But to cut to the point anyone here know or has done a 3sgte conversion head to a 5s,7a motor etc... |

QUOTE(shid @ Jan 31, 2005 - 10:03 AM) Dude, you can't pass smog in California with a 3s. You have to bribe them. Thats why it's going to be expensive. You can pass it for emission maybe but its just likely for visual it wont because they know that the car doesnt come with that motor. Hey I could be wrong but yea bribe is the only way but thats hard to come by, atleast for where I live. |

I'm just as new as you and look for a 6g but hey welcome. I was at first looking into a 90-93 Celica All-Trac Turbo but I figure it much be better performance to get a 6g and swap it with a 3sgte All-Trac motor. Good choice on picking celica. I my self was looking into Hondas but I hate it when in your local area you see too many of them around. I want a car that's not so common to see. |

QUOTE(97sccelica @ Jan 31, 2005 - 12:33 AM) QUOTE(apexi_gt4 @ Jan 30, 2005 - 9:21 PM) Bleh I know that But what are the chances for a ref. to be bribe and make him pass it. Alot of them wont even take chances. if you have to go to a referee, you are screwed, plain and simple for a normal smog check, $150, smog test center only smog check, $250 $100-$250 that's quite alot for a smog test ? Over here lowest I seen is $15-$40. But as for the ref. I mistaken to say those who do the smog test not the ref. personally ... |

I'm from California and smog here is highly strict. But I just want to know with those who done a 3sgte turbo swap if yours passed smog within your state? |
