i found no posts wat-so-ever about an ecu programming. well im wondering wat method is best; should i send in the chip somewhere and have it modified there or buy a program to modify myself. i believe AEM makes such a program. also does anyone know where to get a performance chip, the best i have is from JET Chips. leave anything you have on the subject (pros and cons about sending or altering ur own chip) so ya i have little knowledge in this area of the car, so any help would be greatly appreciate, especially for those looking for information on this topic as well.

Man, if you want to do all of that stuff to a car and have a street car why did you buy a Celica? Not to hurt anyone's pride here, but our car's...well. Whatever. Good luck. By the way, before anyone gets all pissy, you're not drifting. Also, if you're gonna get a turbocharger, I hope you're well prepared for the cost, additional parts, and lots of labor. I wouldn't boost an engine with that low of miles though. Seems like a waste, especially if you mess something up.

well its either i buy somthing good thats cheap or go another few years without a car, besides it was gift by the rents and i had barely anything to pay for and ya. and thanks for the vote of confidence on installing the parts on my own.

fwd drive is a good drivetrain for someone new to rally racing. if you want a sleek looking street car and a safe strong rally car, you should get coilovers (ride height adjustable) so you can lower your car for street and raise it to stock level to give you plenty of suspension travel. that should be good enough to start.

for the engine, it all depends on how much power you want. if you want a decent setup turbo your current engine, if you want hella power swap your current engine with a 3s-gte to give you a stronger platform to start from. both of these options cost a lot of money (2-6k).

researching what i just told you should keep you busy for a while.

thx, i was lookin into the coil overs and wasnt sure weither to get the ones that are adjustable or not, as for the engine, i dont plan on swapin the engine, atleast not for a good while since this is my first project and all, thx for that tip tho, so now the only thing left on suspension that i need are teh sway/tower bars, then its on to differentials

Umm. The 96 RAC rally was won by a Celica GT4. Although they have most of the same look as our cars, they've got different components inside. The most important of which is a turbocharged engine and all wheel drive.

I'm really impressed you found a 96 with such low miles! Good luck with her!

ya the gt4 is the best of the celicas, but i had no luck with any of those since the miles were way to high and the cars were abused, so i took this and decided to go for it, ya please gimme feedback on parts u would recomend for a project like this and such

I'm sorry to say that our cars have limited after market support. I'm not gonna say which products are ideal for street/rally mainly because im not fully knowledgable in those areas...but now that you posted what you want out of your car, maybe others can help. I guess the only other thing they might want to know is, What are you willing to spend to acheive that street/rally goal? Good luck and enjoy the site.

price isnt an option but i dont need some super expensive part, as long as it does wat its supposed to and is very durable

The Parts Data Base is the best for getting info on performance upgrades. Seems like your just naming parts without knowing if they are what you want. Maybe if you elaborate on what you want the car built for:

Acceleration, Handling, Top Speed, Making your engine bay pretty.

Im breeding my car for acceleration and handling, hopefully to turn it to a street/rally car. street so i can get around but still have that off road fun in rally since the 96 RAC rally was won by a celica. but i just want input of wat others would suggest or prefer for this kind of project

I suggest you do some research and read up on what parts are available for your celica, or cars in general for that matter. judging from the drift comment you seem to be rather misinformed. good luck

well then hmm mind bottling, well i know for a fact taht i fish tail alot but i dunno if that would qualify for drifting but i do turn hard alot and am usin the e-brake, but o well my mistake if thats completely different, but again i can only do it on wet roads cause ya i know i cant drift with a front wheel drive on normal roads so i experiment
