ok here's a good question:

so I got a 5sfe from a 94 camry with auto trans, and i'm putting a manual trans from the 98 GT.

I'm gonna switch the distributor, and the harness and of course mounts.

I got a new flywheel, cuz the one from the 98 gt had too small of a bolt pattern, but the clutch fits fine, so i'm keeping it. HOWEVER, I have called 4 parts stores, and looked online for a pilot bearing- but they all have an outer diameter of 1.9 inches- which is WAAAAYYYY too huge, not to mention they cost $70 just for the bearing! I would gladly pay it, but the problem is that the port at the back of the crank is only 1.5 inches maximum...... so what the hell??? anyone run into this problem before???

well, sorry, it won't let me paste images or links for some reason- it says photobucket isn't allowed by admin, so here are the links to some pics- if you click on one, it should bring you to the whole gallery.

shoots!

aloha, I am new to the board, but really like what I see so far. I own a small body/paint shop in Hawai'i, and I usually work on trucks, and this is my first celica.

I will upload pics tomorrow when I get back to the shop, but I have a question. I have done a ton of research, and I still have conflicting information about it-so I decided to ask the pros:

I picked up a 1998 celica 5s-fe gt 5-speed manual trans. it had no motor, but all the parts were there- including intake and harness, etc.

I recently picked up a 5s-fe with an auto trans from a 1994 camry with harness, etc.

from what I can tell, the 1998 had a distributorless ignition, though the engine I got has a distributor. can I still drop this motor in and make it work, do I need to change the harness or anything?

also, I pulled the trans and was about to put on the manual trans when I noticed the flywheel was too small at the "pilot hole" and wouldnt slide on to the crankshaft- so I'm gonna go get a new one tomorrow and hope I dont need a new clutch. I havent any real questions about this part, but I was wondering if anyone else ran into this problem before.

thanks, any info would be great, and I will throw some pics up tomorrow!
