Spin the crank around again and recheck that they are still at 0. Lining them up once is not enough. There can be slack in the belt that will cause them to look ok when first installed but be totally off after a few revolutions. I had to redo the belt on my 3sgte at least 4 times before I got everything lined up correctly. Your 5s will be easier but you should still check it again. thanks lagos... will check again is it ok to run like it is right now tho? i'll have time tomorrow to recheck it again! |

Oh and definately think about changing the crankshaft seal, waterpump, motor mount and serpentine belts while you have the timing belt off. If you change the belt yourself or get a buddy to do it then you probably dont need to worry about anything other than just purchasing a new timing belt. If however you are paying someone to do the labor on this repair you need to invest in a waterpump and crankshaft seal for sure. They are cheap and easy to install once the timing belt has been removed and you may save yourself having to pay someone later on to remove the timing belt AGAIN just to change a leaky water pump. everything else pretty much has been changed... the oldest was the timing belt which was just a little under two years... motor mounts less than 2 months ago and the waterpump less than 6 months ago... thans for the heads up!! Sounds like one of the cams might be off by a tooth. how i made sure the crank was tdc and the cams were 0 degrees!!!??? |

driving home from work, im 4 blocks from house when i get to a stop sign. when i go again my motor stops and when i try to start it up only the starter is heard which brings me to conclusion that when i open the hood the timing belt snapped. i read that the 5a-fe are non- interference motors and after the belt snaps it kills the motor to prevent damage to the internals. is this true and of course i will check the inside... im just looking for relevance and good hopes!! |

so i notice a screeching and knocking sound from either my front left wheel or the front right wheel again it happens only when i start to turn to the right. but disappears when i drive straight. i notice this before and there for changed both left and right front axel, but now the sound is back. the left front hub, spindle and wheel bearings were replaced about a year and a half ago due to worn wheel bearings. also i know its about that time to replace the front motor and the rear tranny mount, i will be doing so in a little bit but when i do i wanna fix the screeching/knocking sound at the same time! any ideas? any thing helps. |

bypass the factory amplifier located underneath ac climate controls. unbolt the amplifier with a 10 mm and then unplug the 2 harnesses in the read of amplifier. if you purchased a wiring harness (17-1761) it should plug directly into the harnesses you unplugged from the amplifier. but consider the fact that any aftermarket radio has typically 18-22 rms watts and the type r speakers u purchased requires about 110 watts rms max. consider buying an 4ch amp. |

it will fit but the rear of the factory head unit of the 7th gen celica is a single plug. depending it your celica has a factory amp or not it will or will not work. if you do have an factory amp then your good, if not then the 7th gen celica headunit wont have enough power to push the speakers in your car |

I dunno whats going on with my clutch pedal and it just started doing it a month ago. here are some instances of what happens. at a dead stop like me waiting at a light i tend to press and hold the clutch pedal down and wait while im in gear for the light to turn green. when the light turns green i release the clutch but it will not come up and i would have to use the tip of my foot to pull the pedal back up. second instance is sometimes when driving under normal conditions i'll shift normally and the same problem happens between shift usually around 2, 3 and lease 4 gear! what could be the problem? i did check for fluid and i did bleed the clutch and it seem to work for a day or two then it came back? any feedback would be much appreciated. |

well right now, i have my current head unit underneath the pocket. and i'm planning to get the kenwood nav-512 dvd/nav receiver. i dont want to got double din because i dont want to lose the pocket and i dont want to be to noticeable of having a screen right there. i just want to see how it would look. i looked at the specs for different headunits just to see what my options are and just because i was bored at work so i looked also at what discounts i get too. |

i check the oil once in a while becuase i know our engines are prone to oil leaking. but it got to a point where i am starting to worry. everyday there would be probably a good eigth cup of oil on the floor. i started looking around the oil pan to see if i scraped the crap out of it but no problem and all the screws are tight on it. the oil plug is tight and there is a new washer seal. then i notice the back of my engine closes to the firewall is shoaked in oil and it looks like it starts all the way up from the intake manifold!! imma pull the intake manifold off hopefully today and hope that it is nothing bad. but anybody got any ideas on what it is.? |
