ok I added changes to the original post for optional. What about the power steering? Anything different in the breaks. Is the interior trim really that much better? Anything else? |

i ment current mods at the moment. Why not keep the dual dual exhausts? I think that dual exhausts look awesome as they seem to balance the rear out. |

you my sir are a legend. I wish you could do a bit better write up into an artical for the bodykit. Specificly working with the fiberglass (cutting the vents and stuff) Also looking at the picture of the rear of the car at the top of the page. I think the celica is gorgeous without the wing. Is there any rear bodykit or anything changed about the car in that shot? Lights, Lowered etc. It just looks so good. |

QUOTE(CoSo @ Apr 20, 2005 - 11:41 PM) Yes, a GT-FOUR kit will basically fit. Note that a 96+ has a 3 post spoiler, while the GT-FOUR has a lifted standard two post. So if you go for the GT-FOUR spoiler, you'll need to patch up the holes in the middle. As for the front bumper, I believe that you'll neet to cut the rebar in half for it to fit. rebar in half? Whats a rebar. Sorry for my ignorance |

Im looking at getting a ZR 6th gen celica but Im not sure what to get. I can pick up a 94/95 model for around A$14500 but a 96+ is looking at around A$17000+ So what exactly changed between the 94/95 and the 96+ So far all i have gotten is : new front and back kit : passenger airbag [Option] : abs [Option] : interior trim colour : speed sensitive power steering (unconfirmed) anyone wish to help out on this list. Also as one last thing, when i get my celica, im gonna want a gt4 kit. Will it fit to both year brackets and where would i best get from? A wreckers or a bodykit shop? Cheers ZOiks |

QUOTE(popstar @ Apr 14, 2005 - 8:13 PM) i had a 4th gen befor my 6th gen and yes, you sit lower in the sixth gen so your'll fit in ok........ mate if your driving hard and fast or alot of moter way traveling then the GS GE is what you want...... as for coupe or liftback...... the celica is a liftback in my opinuion and look best the coupe and vert's where only really made for the US market to boost sales... Get yourself a GT-4, it;s the only real choice, and you can get one over there un-like our poor friends across the pond ![]() Yeah i have already decided liftback if at all possible. As for buying a gt4 straight out. 1. Its too dear 2. Insurance would kill me with turbo 3. Fuel would make my corpse reignite with loss of money. If the 6th gen will have as much poke as my 4th gen (which someon said it would) And im hoping its suspension will be heaps better.. then i will be happy with the 5sfe. But im just curous on how the 3sge goes for fuel economy if i wanted to put one of them in. |

QUOTE(CoSo @ Apr 14, 2005 - 7:38 PM) Also, keep in mind that turbos carry heavier insurance premiums, especially for young drivers. Swapping in a 3SGE would cost a couple of grand, and considering that Celicas are already overpriced, it *probably* isn't worth it. You could probably find a decent Commonwhore or better yet an Imprezza WRX (like an MY99) for around $20k which would give more bang for your buck. To me, the perfect 6th Gen Celica is the SS-III with the BEAMS 3S-GE engine. This comes in at about 200 HP, with regular 3S-GEs at 170 HP I believe. However, no SS version Celicas were imported into Australia, as far as I know. So you'll need to swap a 3SGE in from another car if you want a performance boost. Even though the 5S-FE is horribly underpowered for a sports (or sporty?) coupe, at least it's reliable as hell. And it does city/urban stop-go driving at 10L/100km (or 6L/100km on highway). To compare, my ride is a '96 ZR with 83000 km for $18 grand, from dealer. thanks for the reply. I have pretty much dropped the idea of a commonwhorebecause they are too common lol. I want something a bit individual. I know the 5sfe is awesome on fuel but i was wondering how the 3sge went against it in fuel economy. Im looking at eather a ZR (hopefully) or a SX-R if i can add abs on as a mod for cheapish. Cheers Zoiks |

QUOTE(slipgun @ Apr 11, 2005 - 9:29 AM) Dont they have the 3sge over there? it would be quite quick. If i were to buy a 6th gen what would you guys reccomend to replace the engine with if i wanted. I know the 3sgte is quite heavy on the fuel, but is the non turbo version that bad? How does it go for power. Im a student so i cant afford heaps of fuel and im just wondering whether a 3sge would suit me better then a 5sfe |

yeah, i have looked at supra's and i love them to bits, but seriously they are not practical for me at the moment. The model i want is too expensive for me, the insurance is way to expensive and im thinking the economy wont be too good. Also there is more supra's then celicas where I live. At the moment economy is more important ten power. But as long as it has more poke then my current '89 celica ill be happy. Oh im 17 btw and thanks for the replys. |

QUOTE(Insanity-74 @ Apr 13, 2005 - 10:21 PM) :Honda Civic - You`ll get instantly labelled a "ricer" wether its deserved or not, common as muck. Tunable, lots of aftermarket stuff. :Mazda MX6 - Girls car :Honda Prelude - see Honda Civic. bigger engine with less potential IMO :Nissan Pulsar - Reliability issues, but alot of car for the money if you get the GTi-R :Mitsu Lancer - If you can get an EVO go for it, others are slowwwwww. :BMW 318i - Slow n common. so what does the celica have over these? Rarity, style(just look at some of the cars on this site), GT4 will leave you grinning like an idiot. Limited tuning goodies but they are out there when you know where to look. Rally car Heritage. Nothing else quite looks like them. bullet proof Toyota reliability. Thanks for the response. And i love the gt4 to peices but im yet to find on in g6 form for under $20k So instead, i was thinking about getting an sxr ad abs brakes (if thats possible) and get a gt4 kit. Sure it would be a far cry from the real deal but its as close as i could getfor a while. On a side note, how are the gt4 motors in terms of effiecency? I get 7l/100k in my 89celica 2L |

I know im going to get a hugely biased opionion from this place, but im looking at getting a used car and the Mk 6 celica is the highest on my list. But when i can get a 2000 model Lancer a the same price as a 1997 celica it puts my mind into a questionable state. Some other cars im looking at: :Honda Civic :Mazda MX6 :Honda Prelude :Nissan Pulsar :Mitsu Lancer :BMW 318i so what does the celica have over these? cheers Zoiks |

im currently looking at this celica MAKE/MODEL: Toyota Celica ZR YEAR: 1997 ODOMETER: 109,000kms PRICE: $16,900.00 One thing that the owner said was that this model is a coupe version not a liftback. I have done a little research and from what i can find the coupe has a bit more room and a stronger structure. What other differences are there? Is the boot size the same? Will body kits and wings from a liftback fit onto the coupe? What about the GT4 kit that im looking at? cheers |

QUOTE(Drocay @ Apr 11, 2005 - 2:10 AM) well for your first thing, i'm 6'2 and i have no probs at all in the celi not sure how tall u are. second, as long as u get a gt equivelent( not sure AUS model) you will beat your current car and handling will be better as well. im 180cm... so im guessing the 4th gen is just a small car. And im glad that it will beath the current one. Just another quick question, i know the 5s-fe is a dog to mod, but would a stock or modded (exhaust, intake, grounding kit) be able to take a lancer on? |

I currently own a 1989 Celica SX (GT) "white lightning" but im looking for something a bit newer. The one car i have my heart set on is the 6gc ![]() First is room. In my current car, i find the roof is a tad too low, causing my hair to rub the roof and head to occasionally hit it when going over a bump. Second is performance. Would a 6gc >= then my current car in performance, both power and handling. third is models. Finding a celica coupe here in AUS is next to impossible and most people have SX model celicas. Im looking at the ZR model but could anyone outline what exactly the difference are. All i know at the moment is passenger airbag, abs, sideskirts and cruise control cheers zoiks |
