This thread is already doomed, but what the heck..

The 3S-GTE engine can make around 1000 hp at the flywheel if done right. But you are looking at a cost for the engine alone that is way more than actually buying and tuning a Supra MK IV.

We have an original Top Secret Supra here in Norway with the 3S-GTE engine pushing atleast 800+ hp. But then again, with the 2JZ-GTE engine you can probably get 1500+ hp.

This thread is probably BS anyway though.. ^^

Not sure if this will be of any help. But just an estimate. USA to Norway (as in your location) for 25lbs (not sure what the exhaust weighs).

also, keep in mind Customs. Not sure how yours works.

Global Express Guaranteed® Non-Document Service

Global Express Mail™ (EMS) 3 - 5 Days $107.50
Airmail Parcel Post 4 - 10 Days $91.95
Economy (Surface) Parcel Post 4 - 6 Weeks $39.80

Thanks, but it's rather size than weight who make it expensive I think.. The box that the exhaust comes in is rather huge. Anyway, it should not be 1000$ smile.gif I can live with around 150$, so Economy freight even though the exhaust is bigger and heavier than 25 lbs should still not be above 100$, considering the numbers above.

Romas might find the exhaust somewhere in Europe though, so I'm waiting to see if he gets lucky. Or I might get something from Japan alongside someone elses stuff.

But thanks alot for your help smile.gif It's appreciated!

If its a big box - and shipping with AIRMail - yes it will cost a lot but NOT 1000$ lol
My guess would be it would cost 400$ AT most with the airmail.

But if you go ground mail - it might be only about 150$. Companys ussualy charge alot cuz of the hastle and they are not intended to ship it with USPS Airmail or ground mail - they ussualy go with UPS or DHL or etc..

Thanks!
What I was thinking too.. Ground mail wouldn't trouble me at all.. Since I can't use my car for another 3-4 months anyway, because of the winter.

But doGGy, could you take 15 minutes some day and check around if you find the exhaust for sale anywhere? My guess is you know a few places around in Europe who might have or be able to get something like that.

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone could get a shipping quote on a standard cat-back exhaust from USA -> Europe? I'm having a hard time finding someone who can sell me the A'PEXi GT exhaust and ship it, without _insane_ shipping costs.

Found a "company" on Ebay but they wanted about 1000$ US for shipping alone. When the actual product is only 400$ the total just isn't worth it imo.

Another solution is if someone in Europe (maybe even UK) know of any shops who can get a hold of the A'PEXi GT exhaust for an FD.

Never above 2000 on a cold engine.

Usually around 3000-4000 daily driving.

5000-7000 spirited driving

And about 9000 rpm when racing.

The car runs great above 1000 rpm though, so in 2nd gear just crawling around in town I can drive between 800 and 1200 rpms. idle on a warn engine is 500 rpms. You just have to love the rotary wink.gif

PS: Not a Celica!

wait a few years, the US will eventually catch up. or at least Europe will and they have LHD in some places

Europe have LHD in _some places_? As far as I know most of Europe have LHD, and only 1-2 places have RHD wink.gif

But ok, the statement is still valid smile.gif

In my opinion the exhaust shouldn't be angled to the side, but rather a bit down. Or, not the exhaust itself, but the end of the pipe, should angle down just a tiny bit.

A few typical JDM exhausts have that little angle at the very end, and it looks great.

Gram's for example.. They produce very, very light weight full turbo-back exhausts for most japanese cars, and they are all angled down a little at the tip. Lets see if I can find a picture.

Nissan SR20DET uses a timing chain, not a belt.. So that shouldn't be your first concern. The SR is also aluminum, and not cast iron, like the CA is..

The SR also uses a single lobe to push 2 valves, instead of 1 lobe for each valve, like the CA (the CA can rev higher because of this). Considering this the CA is in many cases a better engine to work with when tuning.

The SR is pretty bullet proof though, I'm not saying it's a bad engine, but the CA is pretty darn good too. And by many considered a more durable engine.

So, i just ordered an sr20 engine, and i was wondering what things i should do to it, before i put it in me car......on my list i already have

water pump
all gaskets/seals
obviously, all fluids, lol
spark plugs.....

Anything i missed, or anything anyone think i should add??.....and yeah, i know this is a celica forum, but the ppl on the 240sx forums, act like @ssholes, when it comes to asking simple questions......

I have to ask. What SR20 engine? You know, the regular Nissan Primera 2.0 LX comes with a SR20DE engine wink.gif I'm guessing that you are talking about a SR20DET (turboed version of the SR20 engine).. What year is the engine? Milage?

What car are you driving? Or rather, what car are you going to put it into? A Nissan S12/13/14/15, or a Celica?

Nice car, but dream car? No thanks, I cant spend rebuild time as much as most rx7 owners, its a nice weekend car if it never rains / snows. Get a car suitable for snowy winters man, go for it. gt4 it up.

Rofl dream car, most people say that have never owned an rx7 in their life.

Looks good nonetheless, very clean.

Well, if Jen, or some other people think that the RX-7 is their dream car, then that means that they are or have been dreaming of getting one. Not that the car is the best car ever or something smile.gif

And most people will probably never drive an RX-7. So again, for those people it might forever be just a dream. So what if you have to rebuild the engine more often than a "regular" car.. It might still be a dream to own one smile.gif My car have 54 000 original kilometers on the clock. Not miles, but kilometers. So I still have a loong way before I have to rebuild anything. Up and around 100 000 miles, a rebuild is probably coming up. But the cost of one is like half the cost of a 4 banger rebuild, atleast here in Norway. So it's really no problem.

That being said; I'm like a kid these days.. Can't wait for my RX-7 to sell, so that I can get a GT-Four. Because of the 4wd being alot more practical with the short summers up north. If we had 10 months a year with good weather and no snow, I would be all over the RX-7. I have been driving first hand a 2003 Subaru WRX STI (JDM) with basic mods, a stock 91 Nissan 300ZX Z32 and my RX-7 Type-R. Even though I have about 50 hp less than the two other cars, my car still feels way faster. The Z32 is even a twinturbo, but still it doesn't pull like the rotary. Give the RX-7 some nice durability mods and it will last almost forever. Or go all out and get a built engine, pushing 600rwhp with a large single turbo. It's your choice smile.gif

wink.gif

It's nice, but with the long cold winters up here in north it would be killer to have a car with 4wd. I can't use that car until maybe april next year.. But yes, it's just crazy ass driving when the weather allows it. So much power all the way from 2000rpm and up until redline at 9000rpm.

Hopefully I'm gonna get the chance to buy that GT-Four, and if not, I have to keep the RX-7 smile.gif The community is so much better here.. RX-7 club is just whining and bit*hing all the time.. Flaming everyone and so on.

Just had a talk with the owner. Rims on the pictures are not available because of an accident. The car will be delivered without rims (well, stock 16" rims is delivered, but no aftermarket rims). The price would reflect this. Also, the original tail lights and sidemarkers are available, and the dp with catalytic converter and full original exhaust will also follow this car.

I agreed with the owner that I'm buying the car ASAP if my own car sells. So in about a week from now I might be the new owner smile.gif Car will be shipped to my place for a few dollars extra, so no traveling around to get it either.

Getting all pumped up, so of course, with my luck my current car won't sell after all tongue.gif *crossing fingers*

Wow.. $34,000 for a celica? U can prolly buy a G35 with that money...

Not in Norway, is that so hard to understand? Cars cost twice as much in Norway, compared to Sweden, or Germany.. We pay a large tax on engine size (1998 cc), weight of the car (I'm guessing 1350 kg or so?) and horsepower rating (242~ish). + we pay 25% tax on the actual car value.

So a 10 000$ car would cost 12 500$ + the above mentioned tax calculated on engine size, weight and horsepower. Would end up around 21 000$ or more.

A G35 in Norway would cost like.. More than 100 000$ US.. The Evo 8/9, or Impreza STi costs around 100 000$ in Norway. Prices are crazy. Why do you think I get so much for my RX-7? smile.gif And next year they are increasing the taxes on cars.. Calculating tax based on the Co2 per kilometer (polution) instead of engine size. And also increasing the horsepower and weight tax even more.

I'm telling you, it's pure evil. 34 000$ US for a GT-Four is actually kinda cheap here. There are a few others for sale around 40 000$.

With that much money to invest in the GT-FOUR, you can smoke that RX7 anyday.

GT-Four in Norway costs more than that, but still smile.gif I've found a 100% mint condition 1995 GT-Four LHD now that I might buy. Complete engine overhaul and only 81 000 miles on the clock. New exhaust, dp, jdm rear lights, leather seats, sunroof, original green tinted windows all around, AC, electric mirrors with heath, electric windows and toyota sound system (cd changer in boot and 10 speakers).

It's for sale now for 34 000$ US.. Prices in Norway are insane though. Price could be discussed.. Trying to get him down to 30 500$ US, so I can pay it with the money for my car.

Litteraly just waiting for the guy that's buying my car to give me the money so I can buy this wink.gif

Hello all!

Long time no seen. I just got a phone call the other night from a person that said he wanted to buy my car (1994 Mazda RX-7 Type R - JDM). If he actually buys it (32 000$) I would have to get a new car.

Ever since I wrecked my old 99' ST I've kinda wanted to get another one, but this time I want 4wd, so it's going to be a GT-Four. A couple for sale atm for around the same as my old car might sell for. So the financial part is already OK. Big question is of course the condition of the car.. Most GT-Fours are raped, literaly. Body kits, huuge aluminum wings, ripped out AC, huge stereo taking up all the trunk space+++..

It's like a year since I was in here last time, but I can still remember alot of names, and it's really great to read up on a couple of projects that are finished since last time smile.gif

If I can't find a decent mint condition car in Norway I will have to import one. JDM vs Euro spec is going to be a hard one, and I know people that can get me bought..

I guess I'm kinda hoping to be able to come back.. The 6gc community is just great smile.gif
