dear juBz,
i'm currenty doing research on dropping the black top 3S into my ST. it will take sometime to compile all the info and check it on the clip shop. but why it is selling expensive in your country?! and why you have to do it yourself instead of getting help from a workshop?

3S-GTE that found in the latest caldina has NO VVT-i! you can check it out on http://toyota.jp. rated power output is 191kW(260PS)/6,200r.p.m and torque 324Nm (33kgm)/4,400r.p.m.

you can find the VVT-i on 3S series on the latest toyota Altezza, which with 3S-GE BEAM Dual VVT-i, rated power is 154kW(210PS)/7,600r.p.m. and torqueis 216Nm(22kgm)/6,400r.p.m;
and the jap spec celica, which with 3S-GE intake VVT-i (red top). i don't have it output reading.

why u wanna put the a VVT-i / VVTL-i engine head to your 7A? you can get the front clip of 2000 celica which come with 2ZZ-GE engine and 6 speeds manual gear box. just swap over it all. but your need to customize the engine mountings (the rubbers).

1.8L VVT-i is from the latest toyota corolla / celica, engine model is 1ZZ-FE. variable valve timing engine on intake valve.
1.8L VVTL-i is from corolla / celica as well, engine model is 2ZZ-GE. variable valve timing and lifting technology (intake valve only...).

3S-GE BEAM Dual VVT-i is 2.0L engine only on toyota Altezza. RWD! this is what i'm cracking head for the possibility to get it swap into my celica which is same spec with yours.

thanks kwanz... sorry 4 the bad english as well...

i'm not doing the swap but the workshop. they have done an excellent job of swapping my merc 8 valves engine to a multi-valves and manual gearbox to auto. i think it should be ok on the wiring.

i have asked about the toyota altezza front clip without gearbox, it costs around US$2k. thus i would like to know any other parts that i need to get before doing the swap. for the intake manifold, shall i turn it 180° or get it from the FWD 3S engine?

i haf a ST wif A series of engine (c2piG toy put a FE in it!)... i'm not goin 2 do a buy n sell thing kind of stuff coz involved hell lot of $$$ & ¢¢¢...

my intention is 2 get away of the c2piG FE engine 1st & replace it with 3S-GE... preferrable wif vvt-i...

it is really clear tat red top is intake vvt-i n black is dual... if i wanna swap my c2Pig engine with 3S-GE beam dual vvt-i, will the gear box coupling fit?! how about the engine mounting coz it is a RWD engine??? otherz standard 3S engine (regardless it is a FE or GE or GTE...) partz like intake manifold, timing belt bearing n etc fit in? what other necessary need 2 b taking care of especially the engine is from RWD transplant over 2 a FWD? will my original gearbox able 2 stand the extra torque / power?!

4 the conversion of ST -> GT4... haf 2 wait till the tranny done 1st...

hi~ i'm a newbie here... and i'm having a ST model... im apologized 1st if my c2PiGz Q annoying anyone here...

i would like to swap my stock engine with 3S, but i'm kind of confuse regarding the 3S-GE vvt-i thing... i got the bottom info from a japan website:

"DUAL VVT-i which also the control of the exhaust valve is done tempering 4 cylinder sport twin cams which were lifted, in addition to the BEAMS (Breakthrough Engine with A Mechanism System) 3S-GE DUAL VVT-i former inhalation valve, (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) it loads. According to engine rpm and accelerator opening, because the computer optimizes the opening and closing timing of the inhalation and exhalation of air valve continually, inhalation and exhalation of air efficiency improves furthermore over entire area, raises output torque. "

it is the red top 3S-GE vvt-i a DUAL vvt-i?

furthermore i would like to convert my ST to GT4... is GT4 a FULL TIME 4WD or manually selectable or auto engage during wheels slide?
