It sounds like you have a problem with the timing. Is the CEL on? That would probably lead you right to the problem. But it for sure sounds like an issue with the firing being off or not happening at all.

Totalled my last celica, thought id go for something with a bit more power. Went with a Firebird Firehawk and been drowning in repair bills for the last 3 months. Fed up with this crap and getting ready to sell it and eat a huge loss, will probably go back to something more reliable and familiar. If anyone is getting ready to sell a 6gen in the SoCal area let me know and we might be able to make a deal. Trying to stick around the 5k marker in pricetag.

I'm still selling the false floorboards that I had in my 97 ST coupe before the accident. These are just sitting around in my room and need a new home. These will fit any model 6gc coupe and replace the cheap carpet in the trunk with a much more secure foundation for audio setups or future projects. Made of 1/2'' MDF and covered in ash carpet to match the interior. Gives you a better place to mount sub boxes, amps, etc without drilling into the metal or frame. Asking for $80 total OBO, although anything much cheaper than that won't cover shipping charges (its expensive to ship something this size, even ground fair frown.gif ). For anyone picking it up locally (Santa Cruz, San Jose area) ill cut the price in half.

Im selling my entire sound system for a 97 Celica 6gen ST. I totalled my 6gen and pulled it all out, headunit to subs, wires and all. I put a lot of time into this system, but theres still room for improvement and customization.
The kit includes
-2 XS-L121P5 12inch Sony Xplod Subwoofers.
-1 sealed sub box, 3/4'' MDF, carpetted in Ash Black - just over 3cubic feet in total (a little over 1.5' per speaker). The speakers run best at 1.63', but this is larger than any commercial box you can buy that will actually fit in the trunk of the car, and is designed to work with...
-2 1/2'' MDF carpetted replacement floorboards. Simply pull up the stock mat and these fit right in. The box fits on top and screws into it from the inside, concealing the mounts, and providing a more secure foundation. Ash Black Carpet.
-1 Alpine CDM9821 Headunit
-1 XM-2200GTX Sony Xplod Amp.
- ALL wiring necesarry included: RCA cables, harness for headunit, 4g power and ground cables w/5'' lead fuse from battery, 8g speaker wire, 12g remote line,

The floorboards fit as a replacement for the stock mat, on top of the spare (though removal of the spare is recommended, as the screws could pierce the donut). Everything is plug and play, all you'll need to install this is a screwdriver and some screws.

Putting this all together, cutting planning buying etc, has been a huge investment for me. Im putting this up on craigslist but putting priority on anyone interested to people on 6gc. I want to sell this as one piece, everything included, but if it doesnt start selling i'll probably part it out. Im asking $550 total, this is a steal. Just having a local shop custom fit a box and floor would cost upwards of $300. Local pickup preferred, non-local pays shipping. This is heavy, over 100lbs, and quite large, keep that in mind. The subs point up, dynomat is highly recommended. If properly installed, has a very professional look and sound.

If there are any questions, feel free to PM or email smlogg@aol.com

Slick, what kind of wood are you using? I thought about doing this so i'd have a more molded look for my subs, but im afraid of adding too much weight to the car.

That sucks. I've had my plate off for over 2 years now and don't even keep it in the window, no one cares around here.
But your case sounds pretty sound.

I purchased them down south, and don't have access to a garage up here. I didn't really check them when I got them, just gave them a quick look over to make sure everything was in the box, and realized I got screwed when I had everything taken apart.

I purchased these pads a few month's back, ended up getting screwed over since the sales person couldnt tell the difference between pads meant for an ST and a GT, and I didn't find out until I actually had access to a jack and stands that I had the wrong pads. Anyways, the pads are free to anyone who wants to pick them up. I live in Santa Cruz, so just PM me and Ill give details.

Anything is possible with money. The celica isnt really a "light" body car. Its lightish, but its nothing special. I can forsee a lot of problems with this idea if you plan to run it over a long period of mileage. Its a lot of custom fabbed parts that won't be optimized or specialized for a purpose: fabbed parts for this kinda thing are usually just made to "make it work" not for durability and longevity.

Of course, more importantly would it even fit in the celica without causing cramping? You might run into heat problems, not to mention having to custom make a downpipe as well.

In fact the more I think of it the more problems keep coming to mind that would just cause excessive wear to other components in the car. You'd also be stranded and on your own completely if something broke down, no mechanic anywhere would touch that without huge sums of money for custom work. The whole thing would be a pain in the ass.

And as has already been said, 3sgte is more power for less and an easier swap. Its superior on all levels. If you want to use the honda engine though, why not use a honda car?

Oh and of course, it would be highly illegal and probably eventually impounded and crushed if you used it for anything other than sanctioned racing courses and auto shows for any period of time. Then byebye tons of money invested in a car that wouldnt retain the value anyways.

No need to translate. Its pretty straightforward what he did from the pics. Remove the door panel, and he put a piece of egg carton type material there. If you want something thinner, get dynomat.

This would also probably cause the car to retain more heat. Could be a good or bad thing, depending on your location

My subs have just recently started cutting out, and I dont know why. I have 2 sony 1200 watt subs sharing a single 1200 watt dual channel sony amp. I don't use a capacitor, but the issue isnt a less hard bump, its more like a switch turning the subs on and off mid ride. What I mean is, they are shutting on and off at random while I drive. I've checked all my wires, everythings set fine. The grounding hasnt come loose since I installed it. In fact, only a housing screw for my box was loose and ive since re-set it. I use four guage cables from my battery to my amp through a 60 fuse, and 8,er maybe 12 I cant remember guage wire connecting everything else. At this point all I can think of is that my subs are going to hell, though it makes no sense for both to cut out simultaneously? And while I write this, I seem to remember something about a safety mechanism on sony amp's that causes a similar problem? Comments anyone? This is driving me nuts.

Edit: And I realize its a pos amp / subs

Id recommend going straight under the battery and then curving the pipe so that it fits under the driver side fender. Thats where mine is sitting at the moment.

Im sorta confused, what do you mean 2 scoops on the hood? Celica doesnt come with scoops usually. I've got mine feeding under the battery then making a turn so it fits basically where the stock instake would come from. If you go under the fuse box ull end up in the same spot. If you try to go straight down under the battery and end it there you will run out of room for a filter.

Now, if your hood has scoops that would work, then use that.
