Valves stuck open on cylinder one was the cause! Pistons are still good! |

Ok so now i figured stuff out cylinder 1 has no compression and cylinder 2 3&4 read 150psi i see the piston moving up and down but no compression im guessing bad rings or bent valves on cylinder one! Anyone got diagrams for timing im taken the engine apart! Btw my compression gauge was messed up bought a new one lol |

Welcome to the boards! A real GT-Four in Chicago, eh? We have a couple of meets a year at Starved Rock. You'll have to come to a few of them. We may be having a small get together soon in the city as well. If you have spark and fuel, you should have ignition. Did you happen to check the timing when you checked the belt? It's possible that the belt skipped a tooth. Is your check engine light on when you turn the key on? You said it was running fine until you gave it gas, so it was running and then died? Smoking grounds are never good. Was it a stock ground? Corroded or pretty clean? Going based off of the ground, I'd start checking fuses to make sure everything is good. Post pictures of your new car. I call dibs on a ride in this beast! Thanks! Starved rock ay! I got pics posted in my profile! Ill post more pics soon! Already checked fuses Welcome. Subscribed. Thank you Pictures under the hood would be helpful. What were the results of your compression test, and what did you use to check it? You need to ensure that ALL ground straps are connected. Lack of a ground strap could easily burn an over stressed ground strap. Either way, it sounds like your problem is electrical. Ill get some pics of it |

No, it doesn't make sense which means you probably did something wrong doing the compression test the first time. Sounded like no compression or read near zero on a compression tester? I used a compression tester i also took the spark plugs out and crancked it didnt hear or feal air till the secound time! |

So i finally found the region where im leaking coolant, but it doesnt make sense because there arent any hoses around there. after driving 5 miles down the free way at 70 i stopped and saw that there was alot of water being sprayed under the battery around onto the driverside wheel well. the only thing that i see involved with the cooling system around there is the radiator reservoir.. i dont see any cracks though and it holds water. does any pressure go into it? what could be leaking in that area? 1996 2.2 L if its leaking by the coolant res! It means that there is air in your coolant system and its gushing out of the res tank! So bleed your coolant system if it happens again your head or head gasket is sucking air pockets into the coolant system! |

So i imported a gt4 to illinois! It was running fine on saturday until it died out when i gave it gas I go to it today monday it wont start sounds like the timing belt is off checked the timing it was a brand new belt. Nice and tight how ever the car had no compression! I disconnected the intercooler and put it back on now its got compression and cranks healthy! There is spark and plenty of fuel pressure but i saw the ground cable smoking so i replaced it it dosent smoke now. Any ideas? im anxious to drive this thing thanks! |
