http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=95351 Should be very similar and you can't get much more detailed. Thanks! a gen 2 would be better but there isn't much difference. |

Blueprinting & Balancing. Cost? Is it necessary? Benefits? Buying aftermarket rods everything else will be oe. What are some things to look for during the disassembly process of the engine? Detailed rebuild threads? (Gen 2 JDM 3SGTE) -Thanks in advance |

I have a 3sgte in my Celica rev 2 JDM version from an MR2 Turbo. Could the AFM be causing my engine to buck hard when I go WOT? When I'm 1/2 throttle it runs as if I had it WOT all the way to redline its beautiful. I reset the ECU & it drives great then it will adjust after 10 mins then back to buck city. -Cap/Rotor/Plugs replaced. Wires OTW -New Walbro 255 -Tried race gas -New Knk Snr -O2 snr is completely black & I will be replacing asap (BTW is there only supposed to be 1 wire going to the o2?) -AFR reads 13.20-13.80 on cold start then 14.50-15.00 after it warms up @ idle. 14.60-14.80 on cruise. 10.00 under WOT while bucking -Vac sits at 20-22 at idle -Boost is very responsive to throttle input. Spins 1st & 2nd on 1/2 throttle! It creeps to 10psi then peals off to 8psi towards redline. (3in EMS DP with 3in exhaust into 2.5 muffler) -Only running 8PSI anymore makes it stutter really bad. Any suggestions would be great.... |

Hello I just purchased a 3sgte distributor & wires and its has the 5mm clip setup. Is there anyway I can get this to work on my Gen 2 JDM 7mm setup? What do I need to make it work or should I just return it? Thanks in advance. |

this may sound dumb, but have you tried to try a different ECU. sometimes those are the main source of problems. As Daniel.. aka Richee. I think you have done the correct thing by checking the wires.... No one near me has a JDM ECU for me to try out. I don't have the money right now either to buy another just to try out.... |

I wanted to see if I could maybe meet up with someone in the southeast area of Michigan that knows the 3sgte well. Ive gotta 2nd gen 3s jdm swapped 6th gen Celica I'm building on. I'm having intermittent knock sensor circuit problems which is causing the car to run great one day then horrible the next. If someone could Pm me or reply to this thread if your close or have an opinion on my situation please let me know. Im open to all suggestions right now.....Ill add more below. I replaced the knock sensor wire with a new shielded wire. (I snipped the knk wire at the ecu (approx. 2in of original wire was left for tying into (unshielded) ) and tied my new wire into it, ran it to the knk snr itself tied into the original pigtail. It reduced the check engine frequency alot but if I beat on it, it will still come on for code 52 and pull timing. Reset ecu no light I go on my marry way. What really gets me is that some days it will run decent but i can still feel it pulling timing and it will hesitate heavy around 3700rpm till 5k then pull like a train after that. Then on other days I cant rev pass 3k in the driveway before the light comes on for knk snr circuit and its instant limp mode as if i disconnected the knk snr itself! I know the computer checks for it at 3k or so. My thing is why is this issue on & off......Could the ECU be the issue or my wiring because the knk snr works.... Here a pic of my ECU IF SOMEONE WANTS OR NEEDS MORE PICS LET ME KNOW! ![]() |

Is wiring in an Honda ecu the fastest cheapest best way to start tuning a 3sgte? Post your opinions and what you think is best option for EM for the 3sgte budget conscious. |

its much easier to get the 5 speed from a 2000+ solara. it will be cheaper than buying a trans and the parts to convert it. This. Or you can get another S54 and swap it in, but the E153 is more or less a FWD variant of the E154F and generally better geared for higher power 3S swaps, not to mention it's stronger than the S54. So the e154f is outta the question as far fwd I don't get how it wouldn't work it being mechanical an all doesn't it just go through the gears like normal even if the shaft is connected or not? Also s54 is basically a NA trans and the E153 is a turbo Trans? Where can i get a E153 Trans cheap or can i? |

I just recently bought a running and driving 6G ST with a 3s-gte in it for a trade. I gave up my 92 NA MR2 stock clean with 140k miles on the clock perfectly running. I bought the car with some small issues that needed to be worked out like the code 52 and transmission needed to be rebuilt. Code 52 has been fixed and cleared but the trans still remains. I was wondering since this is a JDM 2nd Gen Engine in a Celica. Couldn't I just grab a ST205 GT4 trans (e154f)? Here the link to one I'm looking at (I call dibs!!!) http://www.ebay.com/itm/171196968722?ssPag...984.m1423.l2648 Couldn't I just get this drop it in and leave it running in FWD until I feel like doing the full swap? I leave some pics down below of the car before I got it and mods list. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
