Hey 6gc, my trunk won't open. I think it's missing a spring type part that resets the lever. If I manually pull the lever back, I can get it to open. If you have the opportunity could you attach a photo of the trunk latch, cables, and all release mechanisms on the trunk? It's a 94 gt.

Let's say we live in a perfect world where money isn't an issue. (I wish)

What engine could I throw in, what parts would I need - besides tranny and axles obviously.
How much would it cost to transfer the engine to the rear end? There's too much space back there to go to waste.

I already know of a 3S-GTE engine swap so that's out of the question.

What's a good engine for rallying?

yikes! if you step on the brake and hear grinding/crunching that generally means you have a brake pad so badly worn that the metal has begun digging into your rotor.
You would need to replace the brake pads and get the rotors resurfaced at the auto parts store, or buy new rotors.
If you continue to drive with them dragging you will probably ruin the caliper too and have to replace it as well.
if you need to pump the brake pedal to get it to stop you may have air in the brake lines that needs to be bled out. which would be a part of the operation if you replaced the caliper anyway.
If you take the brake pads off and you can get the caliper to compress back in then it should be ok and you can get away with just doing the pads and rotors.

I would check this first, I think the sensors are just for the ABS system, the brakes will still work even if the ABS doesn't.
even if you're not a pro mechanic just changing the pads and rotors is easy, idk if we have any threads on this forum but I bet you can find a bunch of how-to on youtube.

and if you check out your pads/rotors and the pads look good and there are not big scrapes in the metal or something then you may have a problem that needs a factory tech trained to work on the ABS

well, the grinding only happens sometimes. The brakes work great otherwise. It happens most often on ice when I need to stop. It's SO WEIRD!!! lol

what could this be and how should i fix it

i might have to try this, my trunk latch doesn't work anymore, so if i want to get into my trunk i have to go back there and manually push the latch over. xD

Convert to quad projectors, with the type that is both high/low beam in one projector, that switches by changing the cut off.

do you have a link for where i could get these at?

QUOTE (richee3 @ Dec 26, 2013 - 12:56 PM) *
That won't happen without serious modification. The high beams use a 9005 bulb which is a single filament bulb, meaning it is only intended to put light out where the headlight housing aims it unlike a dual filament bulb which has a headlight housing designed to aim the light to different places depending on which filament is illuminated. The Celica's headlights were designed to only direct the light from each housing to one place, and changing bulbs won't change that fact.

You can imitate a DRL setup which will keep the high beams on at half power, but regardless you will still be aiming your high beams up into oncoming traffic which is downright dangerous and illegal, half power or not. Daytime running lights are safe during the day, but still blinding at night to other drivers.

The only way to actually do this safely would be to replace all four bulbs and headlight housings for a dual filament setup.

Is there some type of modification to lower them and raise them at will? Or is there any car that does this

you could switch you hi beams to h4 bulbs then make a couple of harness modifications to double the plugs on your low beam harness, and convert your hi beam harness to fit the alternate pin pin the h4 bulb.

that way your light switch wont need any modifications, and it'll function like normal only with 4 low beams and 2 hi

Exactly, I'm doing a halo light conversion with ballasts but i want all four on as low beams, then be able to switch to high beams at any time. do you have a wiring diagram?

Is there any way to wire all four headlights to come on, so you can flick between high and low, but all 4 are on at all times?
Tried searching the forum but nothing is written on it.

thanks (:

the door panels on my celiac are black and beige, polyurethane covered.
are you able to paint over that to make it all black? if so what paint to use? or just swap out the door panels?

Also are you able to dye the carpet? it's also a beige color, and don't want to spend 600+ on a new one xD

sometimes my car won't start, after a few turns it does, but at a low idle. Have to keep above 2.5 rpm for a minute to keep from dying. It happens at least once a week, Daily Driver.

Thanks in advance

So I read somewhere on this forum that you should use a honda cold air intake in place of the stock air filter.
Why not use the part made for the Celica? Does the Honda part get better performance?

These are just examples.

ya when I first got mine I noticed there was a spot where it had broken and they just slipped the one piece inside the other and put a hose clamp around it.
wasn't real air-tight, probably why the intake was so dirty! I sealed it with some superbadass white much-better-than-ducktape stuff my brother gets from work
and now its great. at least that's all I'm gonna spend on it till I get a couple bucks to build a CIA intake with the kit as described in the forums.
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=21648

but I have to spend some money on a water pump and suspension stuff right this minute.

thanks man!

Do you think it would be possible to replace the gray part with something a little cleaner looking, and that goes all the way behind the light?
I guess the real question is, do they get hot enough to melt plastic.

Great job btw, looks awesome biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Nice Beams you got there what kind of air filter are you using?

Hi, 1soljaslim5, i use BMC CDA carbon specific for Celica 3SGE.

It's very good as airbox and it's cleanable, but it's a little expansive (255 euro + 20 euro cleaner kit ,bought 2 years ago)

And of course, i changed Beams air hose (that 90° Beams stock elbow with resonator) with a blue silicon elbow high quality hose (50 euro)

It works very very well wink.gif

Where did you get this air hose? Mine broke and there are none in the scrap yards ):

this is a good sticky. much more detailed than the other one. how much would you charge for this project?

I'd do it for $30 plus return shipping for anyone on here that wants it done. Mainly because it's time consuming. Just ship them to me, I'll do them, and then I'll get payment set up when they're done and ready to be returned.

Was that $30 a light?

You can buy 2 fiberglass and bond them together. And mold to desire. You cut the middle step. Its been done.

wouldn't that cost more though?
