Is that stock pistons size? Like I said the pistons I have are 40 over. If there bigger then the stock 5s pistons then they should be able to bore the cylinder to make them fit, correct?

I know the walls will be a bit narrower but after this build I don't plan on rebuilding again. If these pistons will work then it will save me some money and get my build a little closer to finish. I'm not going to be turboing or anything crazy. Just looking to make it a reliable car for my wife to drive. I'm picking up a motor that runs with 165k miles and it's knocking in the bottom end for 100 bucks. So I figured I would drop her off at the shop to get the cylinders bored and honed put in some new rods and mains and ur normal timing belt water pump oil pump and valve stem seals. If these pistons will work then I would say it's a go.

Congrats on the baby. Hold on tight cause it's a hell of a ride and they grow up fast. Mine is nine months already. Congrats again and good luck with the sale.

The camera is for my wife so when I finish the car she won't back into anything. I'm still on the fence about the wing. I'm just not sure yet.

Lol yeah it's off a civic. I had it laying around from of my dads gf car. It has civic stamped on the bottom and a small Honda raised lettering in the stop light. If I put it on i'm going to fill the civic and sand off the Honda on the lense.

what do you guys think of this wing. i had it just laying around the shop. i like the spoiler for the hatches better but when i mocked it up with the one and the shop it didnt fit all that good, go figure. so this wing is the second choice. its fits perfect on all that curves and there are no gabs. just looking for some opinions. its not bolted down its just sitting on the trunk.

The temp prob could just be ur temp sending unit and if not that the the guage itself. As far as the heat goes it could be the blend door or maybe your heater core is clogged. When you turn your dail on the temp selectior does the little arm under the hood on the driver side fire wall move. Maybe the cable is no good. The knocking could be a few things. Could be piston slap, maybe a worn rod bearing or crank bearing. I don't thunk u should get rid of the car over these probs depending on what the knocking is though. If it's the injectors u here ticking then that's coming my supra does it and my last 4 celicas did it and the one I just rebuild does it. Common on Toyotas. I think celicas are great cars and I'm always on the hunt for them. Fix her and drive. Good luck.

I'm not sure how it will effect the mpg. I removed it off the supra and didn't really notice any loss in mpg but then again I already only get 16-18 mpg in the city. The egr is just exhaust gas return. It takes some of the gases coming out of your exhaust and "recycles" it back in tge combustion chamber to burn off and excess fuel that didn't get used the first time around. I quess it could affect you mpg but I really can't see it being a whole lot. Just my two cents.

The dist runs off the intake cam. And as far as the dots I used one of the single dots. It's kinda hard to explain. But u want to first get ur car in tdc and line the hole up on the cam gear with the mark on the cover. Then look at your exhaust cam. There will be a double dot then a single dot then another single dot. I'm pretty sure I used the last single dot. When u get the cam in there the other single dot should be facing up towards the valve cover. Like I said it's a little hard to explain but if u need help just send me a pic of the cams and I can see if I can help u that way.

Yeah I did a compression check and it read 160 psi or so. So if they where out of time then there should have been no compression but there was. And the car was in time as far as ingnition and tdc on the crank and on the cam gear. But there are three dots on the the gears under the valve cover and the books I have weren't really helpful. I was only off on the exhaust came by 4-6 teeth. So yeah I thought timing was on since everything seemed good, but I was wrong. I admitted it. No big deal. It's running now and I just thought I would share my success with everyone here.

Well good news. IT'S ALIVE. I got tge damn thing running today. I took the exhaust cam out and rechecked the marks. There are a total of three different marks on the gear and we picked the wrong one. We adjusted the dots to the right spot and turned her over and I'll be damned it fired right off. Now I just need to get the driver fender and a body kit and then the fun can begin.
