thx for the positive comments guys!

@ Andason => i bought screw covers, but when i press them, on they get pushed back off by the leather... i 'm still looking for a solution for the prob... i don't wanna glue them or anything like that, it should remain possible to take the screw out...

hi last summer i finished my trunk...
i was a bit lazy but i finally have a few pictures
they are in my profile
tell me what you think of it

oh yeah it's no super fancy fiberglass or megaexpensive finish or so...
i did everything on my own and i'm just a poor student wink.gif
but i like the result... it's not overdone smile.gif it fits with the rest of my car...

during daylight the leather really matches the black plastic in the trunk
and at night the blue ccfl & the blue coolerleds give the trunk a very nice look smile.gif

i'm currently working on my trunk
i have 2 amps ( PG tantrum 600.4 & a smaller caliber)
They will be placed in the floor under plexi glass
this will be an "airtight" space so it'll get pretty warm in there
i decided to place cooling fans
2 small ones for the caliber and 4 big ones for the tantrum (+ they look good smile.gif)

these fans should start blowing air as soon as i turn on my radio
therefor i was looking for power on the same fuse as the radio(right??)

on this fuse there's :
the radio, the ignition & the sigarette lighter

i don't smoke so i threw out the sigarette lighter some time ago and used the spot in the dash to place my remote bass control button

and i used the power of the cigarette lighter to power the cooling fans

yesterday i hooked up the 2 small fans
they worked perfectly (i already tested all of em and the all seem to work alright...)

but when i start the car there's a warning light on my dashboard
it's the "problem with the engine's electrical system" light...
i didn't trust this at all so i disconnected the fans and the warning light went out

can anyone tell me if those little fans can be a problem if i hook em up like this or is this warning light simply telling me there's something "not normal" hooked up... cuz there are no noticalble problems... everything seems to work alright... but the warning light is on...

should i get my power elsewhere in the car? if so what spot do you suggest??

thx in advance!

i have a similiar problem
my amp went nuts
it's a phoenix gold tantrum 600.4 and thats expensive equipement for a student!!!!
now it's at the shop to be repaired... they couldn't say what it will cost yet...
they will fix it for maximum half of its price...
i hope they stay way under that!

depending on those costs and my holiday job i have new plans for this summer:
using this amp for my composet
getting an adire brahma smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif
and a new amp to power it...
maybe something soundstream or another tantrum (if it works with the brahma...) idunno yet

almost the same story, only mine didn't end up that good:

one night, about 1.5years ago i was taking my gf(at the time) home it was raining so the road was wet, i was doing +- 70km/h on a regular road(normal allowed speed) all of a sudden this beemer comes out of the drive way of a house & drives onto the road right in front of me and stops on my lane... there was only one lane... & traffic coming from the other direction...
i hit the breaks but the road was wet so i slipped straight into the beemer... big crash... i hit the steering wheel with my head(wasn't wearing my safety belt) and my gf was screeming stop stop cuz the beemer made a 180° spin and was out of our way & we were still slowly rolling along...
so i stopped the car & checked on my gf luckily she had just put on her safety belt!
in the other car was an old turkish lady driving, & old man on crutches sitting next to her, & younger lady & her 2years old kid in the back
the old people were alright, the lady in the back had her face cut up from the glass of the window & the little kid spend 2 days on intensive care... but it survived!

when the cops showed up the turkish people(who didn't even spoke dutch, the native language over here) claimed that the old man was driving but he wasn't, the poor man had crutches!!!!
I SAW THE WOMAN TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE DRIVER SEAT!!!
she was 65 & she didn't have a drivers licence...

they still say the man drove but they agreed that it was all their fault...
still my 5th gen celica was totally trashed frown.gif
i was really pissed off the day after!!!!

but if it didn't happen i would probably still be driving that stock 5th gen instead of my current 6th genwith kit... so i guess there's a good part to every story...

ok i hate myself...
yesterday i was working on the battery
i was placing a new fuse thingy for my audio install
i put that on the screws that hold the battery in its place
so i had to unscrew those
i put them back wrongly
they were sticking out too much
i didn't see it...
slammed the hood...
dented the hood...
the paint even bursted a bit frown.gif frown.gif frown.gif frown.gif

so now i'll have to fix that...
i was thinking maybe this is a good time to do something cool to the hood... or replace it with something nice
that c-one hood looks pretty cool!!
but in the parts directory it says that it won't fit my front end?
howcome?
i have a '96 st...

what does a new hood cost (if possible european prices plz)

about 2 years ago i still had my previous celica (4th gen)
i went to a party with some friends and afterwards we were walking back to the car, we enter the street it was parked in & all cars had their mirrors punched off!
so walked in panic for another minute then saw my car... with the mirror... punched off!!
maybe not as costly as getting your entire car spray painted but it really pissed me off!!!

another storry:
rather funny smile.gif
a friend of mine has an old beemer & last winter we were going to a local pub & saw his car standing outside, some other friends of me (& him) wanted to tease him a bit:
the car was al frosty so they drew stupid faces on his hood... a giant cock on his roof & some more on his trunck
it was just foolin around it was drawn with fingers in the frosty layer...
but the next day he came by showing me his car... the drawings somehow got "printed" in the old paint & they wouldn't come off
so for a few days he drove around with this huge cock on his roof hehe

then we all had a go on his car with symonis (is this the exact word in english? it's some kind of superpolish thing to remove small scratches & stuff like that...)

so let this be a lesson! don't draw cocks on your friends frosty cars
LOL!!

mmm my head unit is a sony cdx m700r
those sweet blackpanel thingys smile.gif

my antenna goes up with the radio but not with a cd...
so that ain't an option...

i just hooked everything up on the cig lighter power...
at once i removed the cig lighter and put my remote bass control in that spot
looks really nice smile.gif

tomorrow i'll start making the second mdf floor for my trunk
this is the one i'll attach the coolers too
so in a few days (maybe a week) they should be working

i'm currently working on my custom trunk

i have little experience too
but a friend of mine has a car audio shop as an "job on the side" (he's still a student too)
he knows a lot about the actual carAUDIO & wiring but the trunk customizing is rather new to him too...
but the advantage is that he's always busy on woring on people's cars so i get to see a lot of examples
and all those exaples made me decide to stick to mdf & neons smile.gif
fiberglass is for another time smile.gif
i'm still deciding on using simili leather or shiny paint...
i think the leather will fit in the car better but the shiny paint looks nice too!
so idunno yet

when my setup is done i'll post some pics!

@ vphmc : i just kicked the spare wheel out...
i hope i won't get into any tire trouble though smile.gif

FINALLY i have a holiday! (3 weeks)
so now i have the time to take care of the setup of my trunk i've been planning for a while now

still have a question:

my amps come under plexiglass
that will look sweet but that way they're also in a little box witch will get filled with hot air once the music starts smile.gif
that air should get out so i got some nice pc casemod cooling fans

now i m wiring these

they should start spinning when the radio starts to play but i can't put em on my remote cable
so i m now looking for a cable in the car that has power when i start the car
en goes back to nothing when i shut down the car...
that way the fans will start spinning when i start the car & stop when i shut it down...
that should give the amps a nicely cooled "box" smile.gif

now my question : where can i find that wire?
doesnt really matter to me wich one
but it should have power when the car starts en return to nothing on shut down...

i thought about the cig lighter cable (cuz i'm removing the cig lighter and replacing it with my remote bass control button) would this be a good idea?

BIG TIP:
if u have the front door panels removed place ur speakers & then use some sound deadening stuff!!!!!
the "plastic"(probably not real plasitc but i don't know what material it is...) door rattles on the metal it's placed on... i placed a little mousse (actually it was the protective cover wich was wrapped around my tv when i got it) on the metal edge and then placed the plastic back on
after doing one door i played some tunes & i could really hear the difference
