seat at the highest thigh/sitting position. tilt around 90-100 degrees. seat close enough to the front so that i can cross my wrists at the top of the steering wheel, so maybe like 3 clicks back(my legs brush against the plastic trim pieces under the steering wheel). hands at 9 and 3, but doing the thumbs up position. i try to have both hands on the wheel all the time, so i never rest it on the shifter. i hear thats actually bad for your tranny too, though im not sure if its true, or if it only applies to rwd cars. i always turn with both hands to, and never solo/palm the wheel.
in my other car when i autox, I pretty much drive exactly the same, but my right leg is actually pushing against the tranny tunnel trim, and my left foot pushing hard against the dead pedal. i guess its a way to properly brace myself firmly, or atleast my legs. I try to use my ankle muscles to adjust the throttle in normal driving and autox, and not my whole leg like many highschool punks do when they sit in the far back seating position and who basically can't even hold the wheel with both hands and still be in the proper non-slouched forward position since they pretty much have to reach out with the ball of their foot just to reach the pedal.

ya i use it has a card holder, which im sure is waht those slots are for. fits perfectly. though i use the card as an interior window scraper. my old cupholder is actually a seaweed container. its a square with a screwoff top, and i descovered that a cup fits perfectly into it, and that the container also fits into the arm rest storage area pretty well too. its also out of the way when i shift.

hey all. my car has some raybrig foglights installed, the dual kind, r1000 or something. anyways, theres middle lights don't seem to work. the first setting, which is supposed to turn on the middle ones, doesn't seem to work, though on the controller, the light goes on. when i use the second setting, only my outside 2 work, and i think the second setting is supposed to turn on all 4. does anyone have any experience with the raybrig dual foglights, or have an idea why it doesn't work? i want to see if its fixable without chasing the wires under my dash, though im pretty sure im going to have to.

perhaps if you can push the cd deck in abit further, and take out the storage pocket, you can make a little docking station for the psp. pretty much just have that 'dock it' thing screwed in, or taped into the recess so you can put and pull your ps2 onto and from it. you can probably easily build a frame too so that the panel is flush with the psp abit more. just goto your local hobby store and buy some sheets of polystyrene. its pretty much just sheets of model plastic that you can cut easily, and if you want to shape it, you can even put a hair dryer to it for around 30 seconds and it'll become soft and moldable/bendable. just paint it black after.
you can probably even goto the hardware store and get a hinge so you can make it swivle or swing up and down so you can gain access to the compartment or cd deck.

just curious, but what were your times, or was this done not at a race strip? itd be good to get a database of times of swaps and mods, to see what mods and swaps make big differences.

nice shots and nice times. so what car was the fastest out there, and how did the hondas place? im guessing many of them had trouble off the line because of their drivetrain. drivetrain layout i mean, and not weak drivetrains.

i might have worded it strangely, but i dont mean they will lock up since thats the whole point of abs. and when i say ease up on the brakes, I mean a tiny bit just so the abs wont be going off since the guy above said he doesn't want it happening, tiny bit as in just enough to make the abs not fire, or stop activating i guess. a way to have abs, but not use it.

from what i know, abs actually does stand for anti braking system, but they call it anti lock brakes so not to confuse people into thinking they wont be able to stop.

hmm.. maybe you shouldn't be driving if abs becomes a constant problem.
wheel lockup(wheel as in tires, not steering wheel) happens when the force of your brakes, along with your cars speed, exceeds the max gripping point of your tires, and so your tires stop rotating(im pretty sure we've all done this when we were young with our pedal bikes), but your car is still moving. this is really really bad because when this happens, your stopping distance is increased bigtime. not only do you stop further, but you lose almost all control of your car, that is, if you're locking the front brakes, which happens very easily, especially in wet/icy conditions. when your tires stop moving, your your tires lose the ability to steer because they can't point your car where to go anymore. they might point in a direction, but thats pretty useless without having the tires actually spinning. its pretty much like sliding a rectangle block of wood around, even if you slide it at 45% angle, it'll still slide in the direction you pushed it, and not the direction its pointing to. ever go down a snowy hill on a crazy carpet, only not being able to actually steer the thing very well, and often even spinning while going down? same effect. but then some might say "then why the hell can skiis, snowboards, and GTs have control?" its because they are digging/carving into the snow. thats why in icy areas in a hill/mountain, where you cant carve into it, you can easily slip and fall, or go straight when trying to turn.
now what abs(stands for Anti Braking System) does, is unlock your brakes so that you can gain control, and apply the brakes again at whatever force youre putting on them. what most people do though, its push the brakes even harder, which will only make them lock up worse.
now an easy way(easy with experience) to overcome the oh so awsome abs is to not let it even activate. if it turns on, that means youre locking up your brakes, and youre pushing too hard on the peddle. it may seem scary not pushing the brakes as hard as possible, but trust me, its even more scary coming up on something and barely having your car slow down at all and not being able to turn/swirve to avoid it. if youre too scared to do this, and your abs(if you have it) does happen to activate, you should hear, and feel, it pulse. instinct tells you to push even harder on the brakes because brakes=stopping, but you have to go against it and slightly let off of them so that they stop locking up. same with a car without abs. if you feel yourself sliding, let off the brakes and then apply them again, but at a lesser force. a good thing to do also, is to not brake suddenly, but push it almost as if it was your gas pedal, in a manual car and youre starting from a stop. gradually going up to the max gripping point of your tires you'll have a better chance not totally going past it.

goto walmart and get some woodgrain pattern sticker sheets. you'll look classy. or a gunmetal grey would look pretty sweet.

do you have any pictures of your beam pattern with HIDs installed? i heard that without specific lenses, HID beam patterns in non HID housings look odd and aren't proper. also, does anyone know how many kalvins companies like bmw and lexus use for their bulbs?

when i was learning(which was like 3 weeks ago) i too had some problems. one thing i found really made it easier was to change your traffic driving just a tad. instead of stopping suddenly, and gasing fast, i try to slow down my car early so that i come to a complete stop as little as possible. i also didn't go fast and try to catch up to the guy infront of me, only to have to brake again, i would slowly start so that if i did catch up to the guy infront of me, he was about to go again, so i wouldn't have to stop. so pretty much coast as much as possible.
