yer there has been a topic about my SS-III in the past... I have the SS-III before the Beams model came out. And when that version came out, the engine, front lip, rear spoiler, front grill and headlights some other little touches were added. personally i like my front lip, but im pissed i dont have the other SS-III changes - i love the newer spoiler and headlights... I'll play around with the underglow a bit more, and remove the graphic (everone agrees it should go ) but my next challenge is a 3d model of my Celica, rather than just an image. thats gonna take a bit more time though |

Wow, just wandered in to this topic to find a lot of people ripping me to pieces... record straight, i have a 95 SS-III Celica. (yes, SS-III). The SS-II and SS-III are largely similar, but the SS-III has the Super Strut Suspension (which mine has) - this is not available on the SS-II. The reason my SS-III doesnt have all of those SS-III markings on the grill, the sides and the rear spoiler, is something i have been looking in to myself recently, and i assume they were added to the 96/97 version SS-III, when the 3S-GE engine was upgraded with VVT-i. Also - my Celica is a Japanese model, i believe there are some differences again between the Japanese models and the American/EU model Celicas. In short, my Celica is in fact a Japanese '95 SS-III without the Beams engine upgrade. ps. Celica_fan, if you're saving money, get a GT-FOUR |

dont apologise, thats some great info. so i assume you added this spoiler to your celica which previously had a 2 post spoiler? im wondering how bad the center is going to look on mine with the holes there (even when filled...) i wonder if theres a cool little "item" i could stick on the center there to hide the holes. any ideas? |

hey man, cheers for the fast reply. Its a possibility my car is a 96, since the Japanese years are wierd to figure out, almost as hard as the documentation... (my cars a Japanese model) info all sounds good - its a shame about the holes in the middle, that could look quite ugly... is there anything that can be done about it to make it a nicer finish? |

I have a 95 SS-III with the stock spoiler, which has 3 connecting parts to the car (two at the sides and one in the center), like pictured in my car here: I want to change this to a different spoiler, which only has two connecting parts (one on each side), as pictured on maikl's car here: So, my questions: 1. how much? 2. where from? 3. is it easy? 4. and will it leave nasty holes or something visible where my previous spoiler used to connect in the center? |

I see your point. I guess ill start using hi-octane (theres only three types of fuel in most gas stations around here, diesel, regular and hi-octane) since its only an extra 10cents a litre. As for whether the hi-oc is 94 or 96, i have no idea, and i would hope that all gas stations around my area use the same type, since i guess mixing them wouldnt be too good? Its all pretty confusing since i am pretty much a newbie driving a celica cos i "loved the design". Dare i embarrass myself even more and ask what the hell 'knock' is?! i'll go read up on the forums thanks for all your help though, you're a patient lot even with newbies like myself |

QUOTE(WannabeGT4 @ Oct 4, 2005 - 7:26 AM) He is in Japan... LOW - US 87(RON + MON /2) equals Japan's 92(RON) MID - US 89(RON + MON /2) equals Japan's 94(RON) HIGH - US 91(RON + MON /2) equals Japan's 96(RON) when you say "equals, do you mean that its the same... meaning that Japans 92 is the same fuel as the low octane US fuel? if so, that makes japanese fuel pretty bad... All these points are true, however i am driving a Japanese Celica, which was designed in Japan for Japanese fuel, and so regardless of how US fuels compare, im wondering if im doing serious damage to my car by only using regular Japanese fuel instead of hi-octane. And if, after 1 and a half years driving with regular, the damage already done is unrepariable, and so i might aswell just continue with regular fuel... or on the other hand, would changing to hi-octane remedy any problems and improve the engine working back to its best state... not the clearest of posts, but i hope someone understands |

im looking for some SS-III badges / decals. Basically, with the SS-I, II and III looking so similar, i want some blatently obvious signs that say what my car is. Ive seen different kinds, some front grill badges and some stickers on the side of the spoiler which each say SS-III. (However the latter is usually on the non-stock spoiler that looks a bit like a Supra spoiler.) others are just simple decals on the car body. Anyone know of a place i can get these items, keeping in mind i live in Japan |

ok - that makes me feel a bit better. so would you recommend me paying the extra 30cents a litre for the hi-octane? (and if so - do i have to completely empty my current fuel to do so?) |

well... ive been driving my SS-III (which i assume has the 3S-GE engine) for over a year and a half now, and only recently did i realise that the petrol cap says "ONLY HI-OCTANE FUEL"... and ive been using regular the entire time... is that like... really bad? is it worth changing to hi-oc from now on? (ps. when i first got the car my japanese wasnt so good, so it took me a while to actually be able to read that warning so im only half a retard...) |
