QUOTE(KB-2 @ Nov 30, 2006 - 10:28 PM) well....i think it should fit....but now i just need to find a good box anybody know of any good sites for enclosures? and i cant find the exact dimensions i need for the woofer....its a type R 15'.... thsi si all i cna find ported: 1.5-3.0 sealed: 1.3-2.5 im not following exectalyl what hese numbers are standing for...deff not inches but does anybody actully KNOW FOR SURE if it will fit? I would recommend building your own box. If you're not confident in your woodworking skills, find a friend or somebody that is willing to help. Pre-made store bought boxes are universal and are not made for a specific sub (unless otherwise stated). Building your own box will allow you to put the subwoofer in an optimal enclosure given by the specs from the manufacturer. The numbers you put down are in ft^3 (cubic feet), this is the volume of the box. To find volume you need to multiply length x width x height. The measurements for length, width, and height can be anything just as long as the volume comes out right (unless it affects the mounting of the subwoofer i.e. not enough room for excursion or insufficient mounting depth). Bass is non-directional so you can have the sub firing in any direction (up, to the back, to the front, etc.) |

If you followed the tutorial correctly and set your gain right, then you shouldn't have any problem with clipping up to 3/4 volume (~47). 58 is pushing it a bit, if your wanting you get more thump out of your system I would recommend getting a ported box for the subwoofers (assuming you have a sealed). Ported boxes will generally be louder since the rear waves are coming out of the box giving you better lower extension and power handling. Leave the bass adjustment at 0dB, the only things you want to adjust are your gain and the low-pass frequency which you should set at 75-80Hz. |

Ohms is the measure of resistance in a circuit. Lower ohms = less resistance = more power is able to pass through the circuit. How did you wire up the subs? Wiring the voice coils in parallel or series will yield different ohm variations. For this amp and sub combo you're going to want to wire them in parallel, giving you a final resistance of 1 ohm (see picture below). (2) Dual 4 Ohm subwoofers wired parallel to 1Ohm ![]() It is VERY IMPORTANT to set your gains properly, especially since your wired down to 1Ohm and pumping out 1000W. Your subwoofers combined are recommended at 600W RMS for safe, daily use. Not setting your gains right will likely make your subwoofer "clip" and blow it if you're not careful with the volume knob. To properly set your gains, grab a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) and follow this tutorial. For the test wave, I used a 20Hz Sine Wave recorded at -5dB. This can be found on Bass Mekanik - Audio Toolbox CD, which I got from iTunes, but I'm sure can be found other places. You're also going to want to set your Low Pass Frequency cross over point to ~80Hz. This will filter out all of the unwanted higher frequencies and only play 0-80Hz. EDIT: Your amp shut-off because it's a built in feature in most amps that cause a failsafe whenever too much clipping occurs and it overheats. This is caused when the gain is set too high and an excessive amount of the volume knob is turned up. The subwoofers shouldn't have sustained any major damage if you stopped it after that. P.S. What kind of box are you using with these subs? |

15" is a better choice over the 12. You WILL NOT lose any clarity when switching from a 12 to 15 (of the same series) in many cases you will actually gain some. Why do you gain clarity? 15's have larger cones which are able to produce the notes needed with lesser movement of the cone. As far as overall sound quality goes, a subwoofer relies as much on it's installation (box and placement) as it does on itself so make sure you spend careful attention to that. Great choice going with the Magnum D2. It is the #1 Sound Quality subwoofer (next to the Aura Sound MR, but that's 1000+ dollars) out right now and is also capable of being an SPL beast. |

QUOTE edit: just saw the link you posted for your HSF, i wouldn't bother with it. you need a HSF with more metal, as it stands right now, yours is just a glorified GPU cooler. it's a great design, but it doesn't have enough surface area for the heat dissipation. WHAT?! Zalman CNPS9500's are pretty big. It may not be as big as a Big Typhoon, but it does have surface area. To the poster, you probably put too much thermal paste on your heatsink. Thermal paste is not meant to conduct massive amounts of heat, it simply fills in the microscopic dips and scratches in your heatsink that air would otherwise occupy. What I would recommend is: 1) Take the heatsink off, wipe off your old thermal paste. 2) Apply a small dab of thermal paste to the center of your heatsink. 3) Get a plastic bag and wrap it around your finger. Spread the paste evenly around the heatsink with your finger. After the paste is spread, wipe all visible thermal paste off of the heatsink with a towel. 4) Place a SMALL dot, the size of a grain of rice, in the middle of your CPU (not heatsink). 5) Position the heatsink over your CPU and tighten it down. Thermal paste has sort of a break in period where it needs time to settle and spread. If you do not see immediate results, you'll probably get temperature drops later on. |

There's about 3 7th gens at my schools and guess what, their owners are women (I'm the only one with a 6th gen, male BTW). What I would recommend is getting an Elemental Design NiNe.1, it's pretty much a perfect match since it gives out 1200W RMS. If the price is too steep, just find an amp that will put out AT LEAST 1200W RMS, not peak. Oh, and if you want maximum thump, build a ported box that is 4 ft^3 and tuned to 34Hz. If you need help with a box design, just ask. |

QUOTE(KB-2 @ Oct 16, 2006 - 6:19 PM) that stero integrity dosent seem as thou it would be to powerfull......tis only putting out 600 watts max power....no i dont know a whole lot aobut woofers...but it seems to me that eh alpine type x would be a better bang for the buck.....im not syaing they are stupid....its jsut ot me it seems that the X is better. has anyone used the stero integrity's before/? 600 watts is RMS power, that's continuous power not max, the BM's can probably handle well over 1000W if setup correctly. The Type X's are recommended for only 500W RMS. Trust me, stereo integrity makes some of the best sub woofers on the market. The BM's big brother, the Magnum D2, is probably the best sounding subwoofer out right now. The BM is geared more towards SPL, but still has quality sound. |

Well, since it looks like you have a decent budget, what I would recommend is a Stereo Integrity 12" BM. They're made to pound hard with less power. And if you want tons of thump, put them in a 4 ft^3 box tuned to 34Hz. |

I would say the main spots to put it are on the door panel, inside the door panel (mainly behind the midbass speaker), the trunk, and the back of your license plate. What I found most helpful is cutting it into small pieces, then place it on the spot you want and using a heat gun/hair dryer to sort of "activate" the adhesive on the back and then press it down. I'm not sure which type of dynamat you got, but if it's thin make sure you use a couple layers. |

IMO, bronze doesn't go well on a white car. If you're thinking about going that route, I would at least go with a gold color. |
