Got AUS$13,000 which is probably far less than what I could have sold it for, but was in a tight place and needed the bigger car in a hurry. It was more than I owed on it so its all good. Nearly sold it to this 40 something woman for $16,500 a few months earlier but she got rejected on her salary sacrifice with the car due to the mileage. (I was very unhappy) Just about to post some pics of the new ride if I can figure out how! Thanks for the good wishes guys, maybe one day, when money is no object I'll find a half beaten up GT4 and make it happy again... |

Well, I'm sad (& somewhat happy) to say that I have sold the celica and made a new purchase... With Emily, my little one, it was just getting too much, I needed 4 dorrs and a bit more room. The wife has the last series of the previous model corrolla which shares a fgew things in common with the celi so I'll still be dropping in occasionally to see what's doing. For those of you from Oz (only a handfull last time I checked) I bought a new SS Commodore, white and spent a few bucks and intake and exhaust, purchased the HSV drop kit which puts it on Clubsport Specs (only $300 when you do it at time of purchase). For those of you who wouldn't be familiar with the car, its an Australian 4 door sedan which is what the New 2 dr Pontiac GTO is based on, it has a much more angular and better looking IMHO front and rear end and the interior is somewhat more sophisticated. Power wise it has a 245kw (about 180rwkw I think) 5.7L Chev V8 LS1 GENIII, same as what's been used in the Corvette's for the last little while, with less than $1000 spent it is comfortably putting out 270kw, just by pulling back intake and exhaust restrictions. I'll post some pics later, anyway have to go rest my kidney's cos they are a bit sore from being constantly kicked by 550nm of torque... The point is, I now can take the princess anywhere with ease, I can still drive around like a lunatic when she's with Mum, and I still love driving this beast as much (dare I say it maybe even more than) the Celica. Good driving to you all, and many thanks for all the help over the past couple of years. Finally Coomer, well done, you have really set the standard for others out there on what this kind of site should offer its users, I'm struggling to find a site fro my new beast that offers as much useful info as yours... Regards, YEL094 A.K.A. Paul |

Hi, Yeah, I've got a 1994 ST204 ZR... It has a stock 5SFE engine and came with a dealer installed AUS ZR sports option pack. That is basically pedders sports ryder shocks and dropped a smidge. It also came with slotted rotors on the front only. This was a dealer option available through some of the big toyota dealers and only available on the yellow from what I was told. Could be a load of BS for all I know but it definately has all those bits and came with a certificate from the dealer stating that they were dealer fitted and warranted. No ABS, NO sunroof, everything else. I'be had yokohamas on it from zip, never tried another tyre and it hangs on like nothing else I've ever driven in FWD. Sorry I couldn't help you with the part numbers or product brands for the intake stuff but Autobarn are pretty good from my experience, my local store is fantastic with the help and doing home work for you in sourcing stuff. See ya. |

I think you may be thinkin if the "SC430" it is also badged by toyota as a SOARER Its got either a small block V8 (and is badged accordingly "V8" on the side), i think it is a 4.0 litre not a 4,3 as the name would suggets, and they also come with a 2JZ-GE with twin exhausts. Infact I think the V8 is badged as a SC430 LIMITED but cant be sure. Thats propbably what your 'Shrink' has with a 2JZ-GE and twin pipes. Nice car and a dime a dozen over in Aus - freakin everywhere..... |

Hi again, Just for all of the guys in this site's mother country (USA) The ZR that gets mentioned is just a GT in right hand drive. Seems a bit stupid as we drive on the same side of the road and all, as the Japanese folk and all of Europe who of course all get JDM spec cars. Anyway we have only 5SFE engines and no 3SGE We also didn't get the 7AFE So if you by a Celica in Aus, whether its a baseline SX an SX-R or a ZR they all have 5SFE's the ony difference is options and a sticker on your ass |

Hey Guys, I don't know if you have Autobarn in Adelaide but they have can get you pre-formed stainless piping in 3 & 2.5 inch. I started with a one peice 3 inch elbow pipe which is pretty much the same angle as the factory plastic one except longer. That gets your filter to almost but up with the air vent for the original air box. You could use some of that ducting to send cold air straight into the mouth of your pod. Thats what I'm doing just now. All you need is the pipe a silicone coupling converter 2.5-3 inch and two good adjustable hose clamps, don't use that stock one that is on the trottle body, its great for the moudled original but didn't create a good seal on the coupling. Of course you need you filter aswell. I actually went with a Simota racing 3 inch Cone filter $49.95 and really no difference from the K&N for this use. All up it cost me $100. An yes noticed a big difference... Much smoother accel and of course it sounds like a freaking monster all of a sudden... Once it gets to like 2500 revs it starts screaming but at idle its as quiet as a mouse. Anyway guys Good Luck... If you like I will post some picks. And if you like I will be happy to source the bits for you if you guys have trouble locating the stuff you need in Adelaide. Stay safe |

Yeah, what they said... It does actually work and gives small increases of a bout 5-10 kilowatts so thats like 7-14hp I think (sorry not real good with the conversions) this is of course on a set up with good airflow already. The deal is with these is they have an exponential (geez that hurt my head) effect. The gains are more reliant on the rest of you performance setup. If you have a good ram air setup you will notice a big difference. If you have a turbo you will also, it is suggested that you put one before and after the turbine. It is also suggested that you put two in on NA setups aswell to keep the aiflow spiraling throughout the full distance of you intake, so one close to you filter and the other near the throttle opening. If you aint getting any air in to start with they won;t do jack but if you are, bingo... We have a version of these in Oz and they are called Hiclone, goto www.hiclone.com.au this site gives a good explanation of how it works... |

Guys, I know the law is different everywhere you go and all (and that's the main point of this), but here in Australia police have the right to look under your hood, its not considered personal space (what else would you have in there but a properly working engine LOL). You can pull anyone over here for RBT/random breath testing and you dont have to give the driver a reason, hence the word random... Once you're pulled over police can 'inspect the vehicle' for defects. A loud exhaust for example... The exhaust goes all the way to your engine right?!!! If the cop wants to see it, he can see it. Your trunk? Yeah sure, he wants to see your spare is roadworthy! What you don't have one cos of that big arse sub in the back and the custom enclosure? Oh my thats a defect! Don't get fooled into thinking cops can't do certain things cos there aint that much they can't do if they think real hard (which granted they don't always do). Think about noise in regards to your intake, if they suspect that your intake is too loud (remeber this may be covered by Environment Protection Laws aswell, these laws aren't just related to exhaust emissions) they can have a look or just find a ticket for your trouble, 'change lanes without indicating sound nice? Where! Back there a bit, took me a while to catch up to you Sir...' Anyway I just suggest you all find out what is and what aint legal for your appropriate state, I would find out your home state deal and stick to that if you car is registered in that state and compliant in that state and you get pinched elsewhere then you'd be able to get away with it unless its a serious safety issue. All I can say is after market intakes are legal down here as long as they aint over 95db at about 200rpm below redline. And cops can look under ya hood if they want. I'd check it out before you push that one on a secluded highway Good Luck... |

Yeah, I agree with NEVERSTOP. Don't know about over there, but in 94 the Australian add campaign was 'The new celica... It's Savage!' or something very similar and there was a shark swimming around the celica. It definately has that sand shark - bottom dweller look. |

Yeah, thanks for clarifying that bit. I always have trouble explaning that little part. You explained it spot on... Just wish you were as observant with whom you are referring to. LOL It was YEL094 (not Coomer) I'm sure Dayzed is a little less now... |

Yeah, sounds like fun but I'm pretty freakin lazy myself. Just painted my brake calipers today and when I finished I felt like I had just done a five minute mile. I might just get a car-bra instead as it has already cost me $800 (AUS) to replace one of my headlights a couple of times. Keep getting big ass stones committing suicide on my left hadn low beam... That will stop the rest of my stone related problems also I guess. Anyway, if anyone does know the answer to my original post I would be keen to know. Thanks |

Hey DoGGy I think your designs look really great... But just one suggestion. If you are only going to produce one final design you will have to think about putting borders around the text. Like if you are using red and black as your two main colours then think about what it will look like on a red or black ride. Cos you might end up with just 6G. I think No.1 looks great. But you would have to border the 6 with white and the C with black/white and white around the .net so you can stick it on any ride. Make sense?? The concept is great. I would throw No.1 on my ride as is, wouldn't give me any probs with my paint colour Great work guys. |

Guys & Gals, Anyone know where I can get the headlight covers shown on the 'Forgman GT4 bodykit' in the parts database section??? I'm not getting any help from my local Toyota Dealer, they said they can only get me the ones that sit flush on the lens... Also, does the 96 - 99 front bumpers fit a 94 without any mods? BTW: Congrats to COOMER for doing such a great job on this site... Word has definately got around. Every time I log on theres a heap of new members. Thanks All |

Hi Dayzd, Its not really a very simple question, as it's pretty much up to your personal taste. I think 17's are the way to go if your car looks reasonably tame... With the tyre size's and number this is how it goes: (anyone correct me if I stuff up) EG: 205/45/15 (This is what came standard on my Oz ZR/GT) *205= The width of the tyre - the part of the tyre that touches the ground *45 = The profile of the tyre - the part that is between the rim and the tread, commonly called side wall *15 = The inner tyre circumference - this is what size rim the tyre will fit ie 15, 16, 17, 18 There is also a letter at the end and this denotes the top speed the tyres are designed for but I wouldn't worry about that too much as unless your going to be trying break land speed records. If you by off the performance rack you'll be fine. Brands: With rims just get what you like the look of and have a good look at them take them off the stand and check for burrs and cracks in the finish, also feel for weight = it all depends on what you're prepared to pay. As with tyres, I can't go past Yokohama AS539's they are a very good tyre in both wet and dry and stick very very well. Look I suggest you just have a look at some of the pics and see who's ride has the rims that catch your eye. If they aren't listed in their mods ask and go from there, get a list of tyres that will fit those rims from a dealer, they know what tyres fit what. Then maybe post the list with prices asking for help if you can't decide. I'm sure everybody will be happy to steer you away from the crap. Good luck, and when you do it make sure you throw up some pics... Seer... |
