How do you change the ignition coil for a 1.8? Getting ready to buy the part after work today. I had the cap and rotor off and they didnt look bad (changed them 2 years ago).

I am trying to change the fuel filter on my 95 ST. I got the top nut off. I was then able to get the bottom nut loose (or so I thought). It jams up whether I turn it clockwise or counter clockwise. It will get maybe a turn and a half and freeze up each way. I am pretty sure I need to turn it clockwise (looking down on it) that is how I got it loose in the first place. I can't get it to budge. The fuel filter turns freely on the fuel line. Any help would be appreciated. As of right now I have no way to get to work in the morning. I really need to get this done asap.

This does not happen every time but when accelerating (manual) I get a slight to moderate bucking as the RPM's go up. It almost feels like tapping the break while accelerating. Any ideas? Plugs and wires are not real old. Maybe the iginition coil? It does not feel like the clutch or transmission is slipping. Car idles pretty good and starts right up. Once I have it in 5th gear on the freeway with the cruise control on it seems fine. Only noticeable under acceleration.

Maybe it is the flex pipe then. I remember checking it out when I changed the O2 sensor. It looked pretty knarled up. It was so frayed up that it kept poking my hand.

What is the part # and do I need to order it from Toyota? How do you remove and install?

What about the fact that the noise stops after I drive it for a while. Once I get off the freeway on the way to work (about 35 miles), when I take off from a stop it is almost unnoticeable. Let the car sit for a couple of hours then it sounds like crap again.

Actually it has a new cap rotor, plugs, wires, and I put a new O2 sensor in about 2 months ago (had a cell light). It was the 2nd sensor that is at the bottom by the firewall. What I PITA that was! Had to cut the old one off to get at the stripped bolts. Right by the O2 sensor on the exhaust pipe there is this little mesh tubepiece. It kept poking me. What is that? It sure looked beat to hell. The car is a 95. I thought it only had one O2 sensor? Does that mean it is a California emissions car?



It does not seem to effect the performance of the car. It idles pretty good. Just sounds really bad.

I will check all the linkage when I do the swap. Should I replace bushings while I have it apart? Can I get them at say Pep Boys or AutoZone? I would really like to use the existing strut mounts. It wouldn't be such a big deal if I could get the mounts locally. Everyone seems to just sell the fronts!

When I first start the car and give it some gas the car sounds like a gurgling terd. Once it warms up it is much less noticeable. Sounds almost like a little marble bouncing around by the exhaust manifold with a bit of a sputtering sound. It only does it when it is in gear not when you rev the motor.

Anyone have any idea what needs to be replaced? CAT or manifold?

Getting ready to put used stock struts and springs on the rear end this weekend (thanks hurley97). Right now the car makes a loud knocking sound over every bump I hit. What are the chances that the rear strut mounts are still good? I really don't want to put alot of money into her as she is quite the beater. What has everyones experience been when changing out the rear end? I don't think I can get rear strut mounts locally. If I do need them where is the cheapest place to get them? I just want OEM quality. Not looking for pillow balls.

Also can someone point me in the right direction for a how-to link?

Looking for a red hood and front bumper for my 95 ST. A guy at work backed into me with his trcuk (trailor hitch). I am in the Metro-Detroit area. Would be willing to pick up the hood if it is in the area.

Do we have two O2 sensors on the 1995 ST 1.8? If their is one after the CAT any suggestions on how to change it? Should I check anything else before buying a sensor? I am at work right now, looking for a quick response.

Maybe someone else can help me out with this one. I am pretty sure they are strut replacement cartridges in the front or strut insert. Complete replacement in the back. That is how they all come. This has been discussed on the forum before.

Sorry guys. Yes they are the S-Tech springs. Struts are KYB Gr-2 front and rear. Not the coilovers. I have pm'ed everyone who has replied so far.

Both items are brand new in the box. The strut packaging has never been opened. The springs have been opened but never installed (still in original box). I would like to sell them together as a pair if possible.

I would like to offer them here in the forum before listing them on Ebay. I have never sold here but you can look up my seller ID on eBay and see that I am legit. (gran-turismo)

The car is a real sad looking POS. I will take some before and after pictures. It is hideous right now. I got the car for free. It is red with a terrible silver ribbon stripe job down the sides. It had painted red steel wheels and chrome hub caps! The hubs are gone and the wheels are black now. But it still looks hooptie.

Getting ready to put Tein springs and KYB struts on soon. I need new rear strut mounts before I can get started. Are these the right part #'s from KYB? I do not want to order the wrong parts.

"sapphire blue mica" Is from the 1999 10th Anniversary Miata. I use to have one. I loved that color/car.
