QUOTE(InfamousChappy @ Oct 24, 2006 - 4:48 PM) So I'm on the way to the next county to pay a speeding ticket i got last month. I'm on 1-75 cruisin about 80 when all of sudden...CLUNK CLACK CLACK CLUNK CLUNK..horrid noises from beneath the hood. No smoke..No overheating...Just violent noise and vibration. Long story short..I get up there pay the ticket and get my car towed back to the house.. Sounds like I've thrown a rod on the 7A-FE. Here's my dilemma...I was researching an engine swap for maybe..in a year when i had the funds..but now here i sit with a ****ed up engine. Financially..I could take out a loan for the swap...or pay some body to rebuild the motor. But why rebuild an engine that's fairly weak in the first place? Especially since it's got a fair amount of miles on it. I'm all for the swap..Just gotta convince the parents..But I'm 19,payed for the car and in my name..So I could really give a fluck what they think. Anyways just wanted you're alls input on the matter. And if this isn't enough I have a paper on Medieval Sexuality due tommorow if anybody has any thought on that. Time for some sticky green medicine...What a day what a day. time for a swap! i too just recently threw a rod in my 7AFE on my way to school. i ended up having my mechanic just swap another 7A in its place (against my will) but mos def time for a swap. its already out why not replace it with bigger n better??? and it indeed is time for some sticky green medication.... |

QUOTE(6gcSTVT @ Oct 18, 2006 - 10:31 AM) Whats the benefit of having a cold air intake over my short ram? I used to have one but it was placed where road crap would hit it so i was constantly cleaning it. So thats why I've gone with my short ram. if there is an actual benefit I'll look into positioning it again in a different spot. the benefit of having a cold air intake is that it actually does something good for your car. if you think about it... your short ram is sucking as much air as your cold air but the difference is that ur ram air is just sucking in all the hot air that is collected in ur engine bay so your not really getting anything but a cool sound. but cold air goes down into the bumper away from all the engine heat to suck in actual COLD AIR. hence the name.... so even though cold air may be more expensive its definately worth it. you will actually get horsepower gains rather than just a sound. which is wut ur going for i presume with your header-back instead of cat-back exhaust set up. |

(just lame old 7AFE) but its ok. at least i get to go back to drivin my celica again instead of the jeep with the bad powersteering pump n sagging headliner!!!. the thing that sucked is that i just got her painted and new 17s on it and i blew the motor!!!! only 130K!!! and i wasnt racing or anything. how lame is that. at least i shoulda been able to say i was beating a stock civic while it blew up! ha! but its goin in next week! woot!!!! |

QUOTE(FlamingCelica @ Jul 28, 2006 - 4:32 PM) Thats yer VTEC button yo. ![]() ~FlamingCelica dont diss on VTEC bro. all it is is variated cam timing. save as the vvt or vvt.i on celis. it just has a catchy name. sure every honda kid with a sohc vtec d-series motor with an intake thinks hes badass but there are alot of kids in my town (i used to be one of them) with really fast hondas. and actually vtec is hella fun. you ride in a 90 civic hatch with a 98' B16A3 in it when it hits vtec it throws you back in your seat and forces you to smile like its nobodys business. theres no exchanging the sound/feel of vtec. my hatch used to get into vtec at 4400 rpms and it redlined at almost 9k. thats a lot of time in the higher powerband. so.. not cool i guarantee my hatch would have smoked half the st and gt celicas here (without 3sgte swaps) by many car lengths. |

QUOTE(H8DC3lica94 @ Mar 23, 2006 - 8:17 PM) Hello fellow 6gener's! So its been months since i last posted anything. And its been a year since my car has been running. My apologies cuz i've been lazy and i havent really put any thoughts on her. But today i decided to to see if i the wiring that Dr.Tweak made for me works. Yesterday i plugged in all the wires i could and then to the battery. Nothing happened. I didnt have much light as the sun came down so i stopped for the day. Today i got back under the hood. Grounded the proper wires and placed in the battery. the "Brake" light goes on! YaY! first sign of life! After some testing i ran into some prolems. 1) the windshield wiper works only when i hold down the high beam. i got back under the hood and found that some grounds were not secured down properly. fixed that then got back in the car. almost all electricals work. Although the fans automatically turn on when i place the key in. but i was told that that isnt much of a problem. So yes! im back on to finishing this damned swap. if you dont already know. we are talking about a 4agze from a aw11(mr2 89) and puting it into a 94 celica st. Its one of the most dificult swaps ever. Dont do it unless you have a lot of patience and have an experienced mecanic that can undo the mistakes. But theres a corolla tech thats going to be helping me, and he says it may be easier than people make it to be. so will see what happens in the next few months. hey do you know how difficult it is to put the 4AGZE/4AGE head on a 7AFE? problems, costs, etc. |
