what color of paint is that, that is sick!!!

The paint code is 183-Toyota it is Dk blue-gray. I used PPG's envirobase high performance water based paint.

Everything looks nice! Except for the 1125r of course! wink.gif

The 1125r is an amazing piece of machinery. I love it --I hope the Celica does not get jealous tongue.gif .

QUOTE (playr158 @ Dec 4, 2008 - 7:30 AM) *
nice color pick and progress. are you going to paint the jams and such as well?

Yes! Going all out. No short cuts

QUOTE (presure2 @ Dec 4, 2008 - 11:17 AM) *
lookin good man!

why so many coats of color? did it not cover well?

PPG claims this water base paint lays out better than the solvent based...it did not for me. Maybe I was doing something wrong....I dunno.

I am still putting everything back together. I should have some pics posted shortly. Thanks everyone for your responses. Special thank you's to those that were pioneers in performing the GT-4 lookalike swap...you made things easier for me.

Yo, what the **** is with that case?!? Where do I get one?!?

The case is called the Antec Skeleton. I have always had a believed in an open case design. It has less dust. But I am not married and there are no kid around my house so I can have cool toys like this!

Well, I have been more of a viewer than contributer since I joined; and it has been very hard the past year and 5 months since I wrecked my car by hitting a deer on a midnight run up to Yoesmite National Park. I have been working hard since the accident to get "STOLEN" back on the road. Here are some pics: on the progress so far.

I needed transportation so I bought a new bike:

So I decided this was the best time to make the Celica look the way I wanted it to -->

Replacing door skin and marking dings for repair:

Prep and sand...etc.

">

">

">

">

Repairing damage done to right apron by the deer. Mmm....venison is good meat. "You keep what you kill".

">

">

Painting parts. I put on 4-5 coats of paint and 2.5 coats clear.

">

">

">

">

">

">

Well thats my progress so far. I will have updates in the coming days as I put the car back together.

Hey Manny awesome job! Did you use a solvent-base or a water-base paint? If you have the used the water-based paint how was the quality of the finish compared to solvent-based paint. I know water-based paints have been around for a long time and some OEMs use them but I am not sure if the ability to match colors is better with than with solvents. Thanks.

If you are looking for drilled and slotted rotors I recommend checking out racingbrake.com they have been in the business for over 20 years and produce a high quality product. I am currently using their rotors. I would purchase ceramic pads to lessen brake squeal. Good Luck! Photos are on my member profile

A nice feature to add to these forums would be a mass mailing of all the members from a particular area. It would only work for those who provided an email address. Anyway I am interested in a meet however with the holiday seen approaching fast few may be able to commit.

Oh well I in !

3S-GTE!!! No contest. . Both engines swaps are going to cost you some time. Time = money. You will have to invest money to purchase engine money = money. Hence, this motor has the best potential for power per dollar.
