Are you reffering to the headder gasket or the head gasket(the gasket sandwitched between the engine head and block). A head gasket replacement is what it sounds like, take a look my link for my cardomain page I have some pics of when I replaced the head gasket for the 7afe. I blew the gasket on my old 7AFE when I was dragging at SAC. raceway last year. I was running 16s ! before if blew. Replacing the head gasket is not that difficult its just quite time consumming. Get yourself a chilton repair manual and it has all the procedures. |

Thanks for the input, I will make sure to take the strut back apart and put the mount on correctly so the piston won't spin so then I can tighten it. Thanks for the tips. |

QUOTE(forkee @ Jul 15, 2007 - 7:41 PM) hmm i think i know what your talking about...heres what i did place crowbar or similar shaped metal rod between any 2 of the 3 smaller surrounding bolts to anchor it and prevent it from rotating (i pushed mine into the grass for more support. then use a large socket wrench (i used a torque wrench) to tighten I might try that, there has to be a better way. The top of the shaft has a hex like hole, I tried all the metric and standard hex wrenches but none of them fit correctly Here is a pic of what i'm talking about: |

I think I found the problem!!! The nut on top of the strut is not thightened all the way. I removed the wheel while holding the buttom of the rotor I presed up and down simulating movement of the suspension and it makes noise, looks like the shaft is moving up and down and the nut because its not tightened all the way allows for movement so the nut is bouncing hitting the mount on the bottom making noise. How do i tighten the nut on the top of the strut shaft withought the shaft moving?(KYB STRUTS) |

Most likekly problem causing noise? Missing lower insulator on stut? SWAY BAR END LINKS? SWAY BAR BuSHINGS? Wheel Bearing? |

QUOTE(soven @ Jul 15, 2007 - 1:58 AM) Both sides? what kind of sound? squeak or clunk. Made sure you tightened everything properly. Check that the springs are captive. by captive you mean there they are secure right, they are H&R springs so they did not have to be compresed to install the strut mount, I only presed the mount onto the springs compresing them a little and then thightened the nut on the center of the strut mount. |

The noise is more like a thud and its comming from both wheels on both sides at about the same intensity over bumps. I forgot to mention like "LewFX said" I did not use the lower rubber insulator at the bottom of the springs( look at the pic) I don't know if this makes a difference, anyone know? |

I RECENTLY JUST INTALLED SOME NEW KYB STRUTS, STRUT MOUNTS, AND BOOT ON THE FRONT OF MY COROLLA, yEAH i KNOW THIS IS NOT A COROLLA FORUM. ANYWAYS THE CAR IS LOWERED ON 17S AND I'M USING H&R SPRINGS ALL AROUND. WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS THERE IS A SIGNIFICAT AMOUNT OF NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END SUSPENSION! I DON'T KNOW WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS NOISE? ANY INPUT WOULD BE HELPFUL, THANKS. |

I currently have H&R springs on Monroe shocks and they ride good(on my lowered corolla on 17's). I've been reaserching for a while and have found very good reviews on the GR-2 shocks. Anyways...... I just ordered some KYB GR-2 struts from tirerack.com they are going for $56 each for the celica st. I recently sold my celica gt but I still have my Corolla! AND THE KYB strut mounts and boots are also for cheap... I'm going to install my new setup on the weekend. I'll post picks if I get a chance. |

QUOTE(stephen_lee @ Jun 15, 2007 - 3:40 PM) Since i bought the celi over 8 months ago, aytime i would idle w/ the lights on and revv, they would get brighter, the a/c fans would get noticably louder and faster. at idle w/ no acc. on the voltage it 12.9 warm and 13.3 cold at about 3K cold its 14.. i think its on the way out. anyone know of a high amperage alt you can get for the 7A? yeah sounds like the alternator. make sure you check the voltage at the alternator itself, and also the connector from the wiring harness of the car to the alternator for any damage. I having problems with my alternator and part of the problem was a bad/loose connection between the connectors. when you replace the alternator also inspect the power steering and alt. belts. |

I need some help on how to corretly install the green wire for the tach, I have a 7AFE engine. This should be fairly straight foward I just want to make sure I do it correctly. I know the green wire is supposed to be connected to the negative ignition wire by using an electrical connector. If anyone has pics on how to do this let me know. Thanks. |

I have a 7afe engine they fans recently stopped working, I replaced the coolant teperature sensor, thermostat this did not fix the problem. I came to find out it was a bad relay later. My smart ass decided to wire both fans diretly to the fuse box ignition connection in the engine bay, thinking this would give me better cooling. Well recently my battery has been draining out after I run the car for a few minutes the battery voltage falls below 12. Is a direct connefction to the fans from the ignition a good idea or does it drein way too much power ????? |
