Sorry to bring up and old post, but need clarification. Bringing this thread up, I'm confused, did anyone put the crush tube oem in or use the thicker ones TCB UK make or the one BRD makes sold on BRD or GT4-Play? Can I install without using the crush tube into the metal sleeves of the polyurethane mounts? |

You got to take pics of the oil spills, radiator fluid on the ground not to mention brake fluid, steering fluid, the swap how to was easy to read but when you actually do it..lots of cursing and parts not fitting in well...gremlins to come after you thought all is well. Good job...it takes time when you do it yourself...not having the right tools is the worst part of the project. |

It's nice to see that members are still going back and forth (new and old) on this forum, I haven't been contributing much as most information is a quick search away. I'm finally able to start my the 3s swap and car is in the shop now getting a repaint. I'm not going to talk about how to swap or how to take out the old engine as it has been covered a lot. What I like to know from the community if any body is interested in me posting my install of ARP head bolts and cam bolts install - specifically what to look out for and what needed to be done prior to installing the bolts and torquing it down. I know you can search for the info and look at the bgb, but it is all scattered. People post up how to do install, but everyone just post up prior without the bolts install and then a final picture of it already on, skipping the step by step guide to properly installing the bolts in. I thought it be nice to add to the "How to" for ARP bolts/cam bolts installs for the 3sgte head since Im doing it, and of course I will post up the correct sequence and ft/lb torque for the bolts. any thoughts? if not, it's not a big deal but rookie mistakes I learn while doing this led me to wonder if it would be beneficial to others who will walk the same path - meaning 3sgte swaps and what to look for when reinstalling. |

Gave up on the mr2 lsd e153 tranny, scored a free 2000 v6 solara e153, bought a quaife lsd for mr2 turbo, dont have time, shop working to install the unit. Made the hybrid axles but when I compared it to the original length on the car, hybrid axles come short in comparison to the hybrid. Is that how it should be? Hybrid = V6 camry outers + mr2 inners |

You'd have better luck posting it on mr2 or even Camry/Solara forums. There are very few people on here who would need it, as it would pretty much require someone swapping a 3STGE. Mating this to a 5SFE is a PITA due to needing to make a carrier bracket. Bolts straight into a V6 Camry/Solara, and turbo mr2 (with case swap). Also, going price for these is about $400, but can be bought for as little as half that if need be. If one is lucky enough to find one in pick-n-pull, then it's $80 (very rare, but that's how I got my S51 box) Yours being "rebuilt" does not say much without details of the rebuild. Did it have a broken gear that got replaced with the rest of the box left as is, or did somebody put new quality synchros and bearings in and got all the clearances in spec? Makes a big difference. With prices of scrap where they're at now, you'll be lucky to get $5 for it at the yard. Hang onto it for some time if you can - car parts can take months to sell until the right buyer comes along. Just trying to help you out. I would be interested if I didn't already have a 3SGTE with an LSD E153 in my 6gc. no worries man thanks for the heads up. as far as info wise i dont have much, all i kno is its rebuilt/non lsd/ v6 solara. i would love to hold onto it but with 4 cars that cant even use this trans i have no choice but to jus junk it. yeh i know its goin to waste but i need the space to work on my other cars esp since winter is coming. I was going to put it on a 3sgte swapped but sold that car. well if you're gonna junk it at least donate it to my project, ill pay for shipping. save my life project as im having a hard time converting the e154f i have with my clip. |
