It's not complicated and only slightly finicky. The cables are held in at the transmission and shifter housing with C-clips, which sometimes can be a bear to pry out. The cables route through a rubber grommet in the firewall, which is held on by a few screws. It is easiest to remove the radio and HVAC controls to access this space. Ok i'll give it ago, i had a look at some guides for other Toyota's, should be quite similar. "remove the radio and HVAC controls" done that a few hundred times before ![]() I've found someone wrecking a celica nearby so i'll give it ago over the weekend, hopefully this fixes the issue, thanks for the help. |

Have you taken apart the center console to make sure the clips holding the shift cables in place are still doing their job? Bushings would make it sloppy on every gear change, not just the downward changes. Thanks for the info, Everything looks like its in place (I compared it with some pics I found online). So im leaning towards the guess it might be a bad cable. How would i go about replacing the cable is it easy/hard? I should be able to find the part at a local wrecker, just fitting it that might be the issue, any tips? Going to give it ago this weekend if i can find the shiftier cable somewhere, Thanks |

Hi Guys mini intro, This is my first post here i have been lurking for quite awhile and I really appreciate all the information you guys have put up here it has help me out countless times. There is also some amazing rides that have inspired a lot of the mods I've done to my own car, so thanks guys. I have finally come to an issue that i haven't seen very much information about (I may not be looking hard enough sorry if there is already a post, please link me to it). My ride is currently having issues shifting. When ever if attempt to shift to 2nd, 4th and revers (the bottom gears) the shiftier is very spongy and doesn't slot in like it did before. It almost feels like its bending. Admittedly I do like to slam through gears sometimes I think i may have damaged the shiftier bushing. I'm thinking that the ball at the bottom end of the shifting stick comes out of the bushing sometimes if to much pressure is put on it. So thinking that, i'm looking to replace the bushing, if anyone thinks it might be something else please let me know. So just wondering if anyone knows where I might get a replacement and if there is a guide to replacing it? Thanks guys TLDR: Think I need to replace Gear Stick bushing looking for any useful info, part#/guides Thanks ![]() |

Hi guys! Recently joined and this is my first post so sorry if i mess this up. So i've decided to buy some new rims for my girl but i'm not sure with my choice. A friend is selling a set of 4 gold Rota Grids 18x9.5, +38 offset and 5x100 PCD rims with Nexen N7000 265/35/R18 tires for $400 (one of the rims is slightly damaged hence the cheap price) Could anyone please tell me if these would fit my celica, i have stock height/suspension 94 SX, and how much would it impact on performance thanks guys |
