Crankshaft position sensor is not used on pre 96 or 97 5sfe, can't remember the year it switched. Your 94 is obd1 so you don't have one |

Heres the hole I blew in the block http://s1172.photobucket.com/user/littlelen1/library/ somehow the wrist pin disconnected and left the piston at tdc and the rod was free to do whatever. Ended up smashing off my ac pump lol. Ill have more pics later if anyone wants to see. |

Distributor. You use the 98 block with everything else from the 95 including manifolds, distributor, wiring, and sensors. There will be one extra sensor on the 98 block that's not used, the crank sensor. Just leave it unconnected or take it off. Make sure the shop does a timing belt and water pump before installing the engine since it's a cake walk when the engine is out of the car. It would also be wise to reseal the valve cover with new gaskets and probably to just do the oil pan gasket while it's out of the car as well, common leaks on the 5S engines. Taking a peek inside will tell if the engine is clean or sludged up and prone to spit another rod. My mechanic recommended all of that except the oil pan gasket. He went to pull the engine off the dolly and the pan leaked all the oil out that he just put in the night prior lol. All said and done $300 for engine and tranny $20 for headers $60 for exhaust $70 for water pump and timing belt kit $20 for front tranny mount $35 for rear tranny mount $20 for valve cover gasket $10 for oil pan gasket and $800 to pull the old engine swap all the 95 stuff to the 98 block including clutch and flywheel and put it all back together and drop it in. |

Won't be a problem. Use your harness, and you need to change the dizzy and a few other things, nothing major. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18338 pics are gone but the info is there ^^ Awesome. Thanks for the reply but what's a dizzy lol? |

I threw a rod straight through my 2.2 block. was going to scrap the car but found a 2.2 with 5 speed for $300. I have it at my mechanics place, he pulled the engine and noticed the distributors are different. Did I just make a big nono or do I have options? I'm assuming this is because its obd2 going in an obd1 car. I thought I was going to get lucky and just connect my harness to it ![]() |

There were some links somewhere in here that I checked and seemed dead. Some other jdm import sites i googled all had terrible reviews with customer service. I figured I'd have to do a rebuild. Its not something I can't handle. Ebay would be the best bet? How can I tell I'm looking at a real 3sgte? |

I've been doing some looking and most of the sites for a 3sgte seem shady. Any personal experiences dealing with this stuff? Can anybody recommend a site that isn't dedicated to screwin people over? Thanks! |

Can the 225s fit with spacers? I want to corner like a beast. Do you think the 205s will hold up well? Possibly go 205s with lower profile? |

I have an extra set of 16" 7gc rims that came with my car with no rubber. I did some calculations and 225/45r16 is very close in diameter to 205/55r15 as to not mess with my speedo readings. Is it possible for these tires to fit without hitting suspension/fenders/wheelwell? Anyone know how wide I can go? Anything helps. Thanks! |

Thanks guys new radiator and cap work great. I was just afriad there was an underlying problem that caused it. My friend did mention it needs a headgasket but it just burns oil. So far its about a quart every 500 miles. No blue smoke from exhaust just always smells like burnt oil and minor smoke from under the hood after extended driving. |

Hey guys! I'm new to the forum and new to the celica. I was lucky enough to have a good friend of mine give me his 95 ST204 5S-FE. I replaced the battery and clutch master cylinder today and decided to start it up. I was sitting inside messing with the radio for maybe 20 minutes or so and I heard a pop. The whole top part of the radiator exploded off!!!!! Heat gauge was reading normal and the water pump was replaced before it was garaged for three years. Any idea what may have caused this? Any advice would help. I'm a diy kinda guy. Thank you! |
