http://nscra.com/classes/ Not sure how many semi-big turbo guys we have around here, but it sure would be cool to see a Celica mixing it up with all those Hondas. New "True Street" class this year has smaller turbo size limit to make it easier for first timers. For FWD it's 67.9mm turbo, 2400lb min weight, 24.5x9.5 slicks allowed. And you get a 150lb weight break if you run a 63mm or smaller turbo. If you happen to be in the DC/MD/VA area and are interested in getting a crew together, drop me a PM. |

Depends on how modified your car is. If you aren't modified under the hood, then go ahead and run with no front plate. But if you have illegal mods, do NOT run with no front plate. The cop can use it as an excuse to pull you over and pop your hood. So you could end up with a ref ticket for your trouble. J. |

^ You are more than welcome. I don't know much either, which is part of the reason I started this. I don't know where you are located, but I wouldn't drive a really long way unless you have something specific you want to work on. This is just starting and attendance is sparse right now. But if you are pretty close to the area, come on down. J. |

Here's your Friday reminder: Meet at my house 11am Sunday! Come for the fun, come for the comeraderie, COME FOR THE BEER! Don't worry I'll regulate on that to keep the drinkers away from the power tools! Few things you could bring if you come out: 1. Portable radio 2. A pressure tester/ bike pump/ air compressor: I need to check my wastegate function and boost gauge function. 3. Timing light 4. As always, tools and parts for what you want fixed. Also, try to get there right at 11:00 if you come. This isn't like a a parking lot meet where 11:00 means 12:30. We all probably have other stuff we'd like to do with our weekend, so try to get there on time so we can get started, get it done, and go on with our day. If you simply can't make it until later, that's no problem. But if you can be there at 11:00, do. Okay, hope to see you out there! J. |

Just thought I'd post up a quick after-action report on Sunday's fix-it meet. I actually had forgotten that last Sunday was father's day, so I was suprised that anybody at all made it out. It ended up just being me and krazyracer (from mr2oc) and his buddy, but I still consider the first meet a big success! It started before he even showed up. I had to go to my local Kragen around the corner and while I was there a dude pulls up in a 6th gen celica. Turns out he works at the Kragen and he started telling me about how he had just got the car and how he really wanted to start a celica club in the valley. I grinned and told him he was a week late. Anyway, I referred him to this thread, so hopefully he sees it (whassup man!). I got some interest from another 6gc member, so that makes 2 more likely celicas. Plus, this guy may be able to give us a local hookup for maintenance parts. A little later krazyracer shows up with his buddy in his cool-as-hell supercharged AW-11. He and his bud installed his new stereo while I asked dumb questions. But it inspired me to go online and get a new antenna for my ST185. KR's friend has some pretty solid electrical skills. And me and KR both seem to be leaning toward getting some paint and body work done this summer. He says he has sprayed single stage paint before on a MKIII supra and gotten a good result, and wants to do his AW11 as well. (Now we just have to convince him not to get rid of that awesome Orange pearl mica for flat black ) Anyway, this is where we could use some extra labor people! Paint and body is alot of work and can use plenty of extra hands (unlike installing a stereo ) Since I may like to respray at least some parts of my car also, we may be able to share the costs of equipment and materials. Starting to see the benefits of working together now?! Also, myself and KR are both pretty close to having our cars ready for some autocross fun, so we may also get a "track crew" out of this. So all-in-all, even though it was just a few guys, I think things are already looking good for this. With just four guys, we are already building some resources: 1. Hookup at Toyota for OEM parts (me) 2. possible hookup at the local Kragen 3. Wiring/electrical guy (with tools!) 4. Paint/body guy (who will trade for engine work!) It's still early days, but you will get out of this what you put in, so bring some water, some tools, and some work ethic and we'll make it happen! J. |

Im trying to start up a little valley club to meet up once a week during the summer and wrench on our cars. Small, easy jobs at first, then bigger stuff as we get more established. The club was originally based around mr2's and celica alltracs (so mostly cars sharing the 3sgte engine) but I decided to open it up to any cool toyotas that want to show up and contribute to the group. If you don't know much about cars, it's an opportunity to learn and get some free help with your car. If you are already a car wizard, it's an opportunity to share your knowledge and get other people to do the work while you "supervise." Did I mention the free beer? j/k Right now we are looking for a more central place to meet than Chatsworth, where I live. I think somewhere in the east valley around burbank or glendale would be optimal. It's close enough for valley people, feasable for as far out as ontario, and a pretty straight shot for hollywood and LA people. But if we can't find anything around there, the intial meets will be at my place. But for right now: fix-it meets every Sunday at my place, Lets say around 11:00? Location: 22332 Lassen St. Chatsworth, CA 91311 818-274-7673 Park on the street and call me and I'll let you into the driveway. This is real short notice, so I don't expect anyone to really make it this weekend, but if you want to come out and see the work area (not optimal, but it will do) and chat about what you need done and what resources we have to do it, then you are welcome. Bring tools and parts if you have something that needs fixing. Basically, we will play this by ear for now. I will be working on my car on Sundays regardless if anyone else makes it out. If we just have one or two people show up, then organization will stay informal. If a bunch of people show up, then we will get a list going and pre-plan what jobs we will be doing. Oh yeah, if you are pretty sure you will make it, it's a good idea to PM me or call so I know to expect you. If I don't hear that you are coming, then don't be surprised if Im not there. But if I do know you are coming I will rearrange my schedule to be there. BTW, i've invited alltrac.net (thats what I drive), mr2oc, supraforums, and you guys. Anyone else with cool toyotas is welcome as well. Comments, questions, concerns? LMK J. |

QUOTE(goferris @ May 13, 2007 - 5:39 PM) some one needs to let us know how much it would cost and what all needs to happen to do this legally. cuz i really want a gt4. i know it has been done a few times but there aren't any posts on how to do it. i haven't got the first clue on where i would need to go otherwise i would look something up. and then once it has been done it needs to be stickyed You can't find that info because its never been done legally. The one or two GT-4s that are in the states were imported "by other means." I think the best bet if people really want GT-4s is to get a list of people WITH DEPOSIT MONEY, then go to a registered importer and try to convince them to go through the process to legally import them, or at least to explore the feasblility. The deposits can be used toward the costs of legalization (i.e. crash tests etc) OTOH, my guess is that there really aren't that many people willing to pay top dollar for a GT-4. There would be a SIGNIFICANT markup to defray the expense of the legalization process. Look at how much Skylines cost on Japanese sites, then look how much Motorex legalized ones go for. I don't think GT4s would bring enough profit margin to make it worthwhile for the importer. But I could be wrong. J. |

Ive heard of some people attempting it, but never seen one running, mostly because of wiring/electronics issues. Tweak, how much to get one of these running for me? Just to do a plug and play wiring harness? $350 plus $30 for shipping, if you have both uncut harnesses. -Doc I meant the whole swap. From what I've read, it's a hard swap because of fitment issues trying to get a RWD engine to work on a FWD setup. Then comes the wiring headaches. One or two people have got it to almost work by sourcing redtop BEAMS manifolds. But i'd rather get someone to make the original stuff work as I imagine finding redtop parts would be a huge headache. Finding a blacktop BEAMS itself would be hard, but I only have to do that once. j. |

I'd like to figure out once and for all what exactly the "Sport Package" consists of. I was wondering if someone who KNOWS they have the sport package on their celi could post or PM me their VIN number. I work at Toyota and can get a vehicle inquiry report that tells me what options the car had when it was sold. If that doesn't give enough info, I can look up part numbers and it will give an option if there is a difference between the standard and sport package part. Also, if you are not sure if you have the sport package or not and would like to know, I can check for you. Just in case you were worried, there is absolutely nothing nefarious one can do with a VIN number. They are visible from outside the car on virtually every car on the road. If they were sensitive in any way, they wouldn't make them visible like that. Thanks, J. |

^I may take you up on that. I'd wanted the dimensions because I was thinking of trying to mount a Koyo rad in my '93 alltrac. Besides the normal fitment issues, I also wonder if there will be any major problems with the Koyo being for a 5sfe engine as opposed to the 3sgte thats in my 'trac. Probably a long shot that I will ever be able to do it, but it would be nice, since the Koyos are ~$375 right now, whereas a regular replacement rad is $400-500 from toyota. |

show some more front end pictures. I haven't seen too many with that lip on the facelift bumper. AFAIK the lip was designed for the pre-facelift and GT-4 bumpers. J. |

I was wondering if one of you could hook me up with the approximate dimensions of the stock GT radiator. I need height and width overall, as well as the distance from one edge to the middle of the bottom mounting plug, and the distance between the two mounting plugs. If you happen to have the dimensions for the Koyo version, that would be great too. Thanks, J. |

any idea what kind of power you are making? I'd love to see what a 3sge can do with your mods plus some agressive cams and and ECU. |

QUOTE(Celicaguy13 @ Sep 28, 2006 - 9:25 PM) True, but the hard part of this swap, AND REF'S ARE AWARE OF THIS, is that zz engines are reversed, which means the header is on the Back side. zz equiped cars have big indents in the firewalls to make a "tunnel" so to speak for the header. So doing a zz swap, you, Most likely, have to cut the fire wall or need to move or modify the steering rack so the stock header clears. The reason this is a problem is because you cannot have a custom header made and it be legal, unless you pay thousands to submit the design to BAR and have them test it to legalize it. This is a similar problem the Honda guys have trying to legalize the k20 in older civics. It is possible though. Really? Dr Tweak was talking about this swap a while back and didn't mention anything about cutting into the firewall. Just said that it would involve some serious wiring. I believe he swapped one into a corolla with no problem? |

I'd get it just for the super rare color (some may not like it, but I like being different). Then take the engine out, sell what I could off of it, then redo the swap with a different engine, probably a 3sge in my case. |
