Like the topic says.. i'm looking for the factory toyota amp off a 98 celica... I know a bunch of you have them laying around in your garage! Hook me up!

the part youre talking about is the clutch master cylinder. it separate and smaller than the brake master cylinder. if youre going to give that a try, remember to also check the slave cylinder.

agh, i need a new clutch too but it's soooooooo much work! too lazy!

i have the same exact problem as you! on some days the tranny will shift super smooth. on other days it feel like @ss! sometimes sitting there w/ the clutch in, the shifter will shift smoothly. when the light turns green. 1st to 2nd is kindda sticky and hard to get in. i think it's the clutch. on some days when i drive it hard, when i first shift the rpms will move up super fast after i drop the clutch and then catch on and go down to a lower rpm. definitely a clutch slip. too lazy and poor to change the clutch though so i'll just deal with it for now and try to shift slow and rev match through all the gears.

exactly what i was looking for! and now it all makes sense why it doesn't beep and why when it got broken into the alarm didn't go off! freakin valet mode!

the remote looks EXACTLY as the picture that i posted. i should just call the dealership

is it a factory alarm? which remote do you have?

hmmm.... that would definitely work. still perfer to just have it setup to work if that's an option. does anyone know where the brian for the alarm is located?

hmm... i guess it is stock then. the remote is obviously different and the way u said the alarm works is different too. so must be a whole completely different alarm system. anyone have more info on.... the west coast system?

whoa, that's totally different. i dont' think that's a factory alarm. looks sorta aftermarket to me...

mines is nothing likes yours. it doesn't honk at all when you arm or disarm. And if a door is left opened when you try to arm it, all it does is make this really loud annoying high tone noise that doesn't stop until you secure that door.

the remote looks something like... an egg shape? two bottoms, one on top of the other. the top one is the main one that arms and disarms. the bottom one i honestly have no idea what it does. there's the toyota logo on the bottom of the remote. and on the back in little prints on the bottom it has the fcc code thing and says made in japan (JDM remote! )

My celica still has the original factory keyless entry. When you lock the door, the lights flashes once. when you unlock the door, the lights flashes twice. is there a way to set it up so it makes noises when you lock and unlock the door? on most toyota's i've noticed that it has a quick beep to lock and a double beep to unlock.

Does anyone know of another brand? there's no part numbers for autopower or kirk racing...

I think the oil leak was the gasket. whoever had the car before me litterally hand tightened the four nuts that hold down the valve cover. since I already had the cover off, I charged the gasket anyways. I'll wait a week and see what happens.

Does anyone know the torque spec on the four nuts that hold down the cover?

Painted the cover black yesterday. it looks pretty nice. i'll post pictures tomorrow.

Planning on painting my valve cover black. Has anyone done it? I want to see what it would look like before i do it. Also any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!

wouldn't a bad valve seal and/or piston ring show up on a compression test though? When i ran the test it was pretty much the same through all four cylinder.

When i first bought the car 2 years ago and changed the plugs. I noticed that there was some oil on the tip of 2 of the spark plugs. It didn't bother me too much then. A year later i changed the plugs again and there was oil on 2 of the plugs. On the thread and on the ground tips. Just recently I changed the spark plugs again, but this time, the same two plugs were dripping oil. the threads and the ground tip was covered in oil.

can anyone point me into a possible direction as to why this is happening? I originally thought it was the valve cover gasket (spark plug gromets) but wouldn't it leak oil on top of the spark plugs if that was the case? There's oil on the tip of the plugs which suggests to me that oil is leaking into the combustion chambers. I did a compression test awhile ago and the numbers aren't totally off. unfortunitely i dont' have those numbers anymore (lost them). if it helps you find my problem i can do another compression test.
