2005 Toyota Corolla CE. Yes, a true family car. I have a 17 year-old daughter with a learner's permit and we need a year-round 2nd vehicle.

The ol' CeliPig was sold last week. I am totally bummed out about it. I sure will miss the car. I will miss your counsel, comments and criticisms even more. I can say you were all very cordial, mature and helpful over the last 4 years. The changes i made to my car were minor but with your help it really became MY CAR. I know you have all laughed at my suggestions and rolled your eyes at my whinning on occasion. Thanks again, one and all, for being there when i needed you. My interaction with the members on the board went beyond gears and gaskets. I solicited counsel and gave my opinion on many a subject that influence our daily lives. I cherish every word exchanged amongst you, my virtual friends. My one regret is that i may never meet one of you and recall "the good ol' days" over a cold glass of ale.

All my best to all of you.

AMOUR, PAIX ET SOLEIL - is my everyday wish to everyone

I will miss you all

What an amazing contrast of sentiments in these shots !!!!
#1 has finality: a single, long dead trunk amongst proud, majestic, towering pines.
#2 has hope: a sapling reaching into the sunlight, defying the stand of trees behind it and taking it's place in nature...inspiring.

you made my day.

rather put some 00:00:00 and $.$$ into keeping mine alive. it's rusting bad around the bottom door seams (typical maritime climate problem). other than that it runs well and handles like new thanks to the suspension upgrades i did last spring.

well it played out exactly as i expected. a VIN was provided and it checked out as the VIN for a 2005 350z with 8 reports on it. CARFAX wants 50$ for the reports. maybe i should pay the 10$ and run it through my provincial registry of motor vehicles just for ****z and gigglz to see who it's really registered to...nah! not worth it. the car is actually in Vancouver BC crated and waiting for shipping...bullshirt!! i would have 5 days to inspect it...again bullshirt! (moneybookers guarantees 15 days) and the transaction must be done through Moneygram and not a Canadian bank...super stinky bullshirt!!!

anyway, if i had the time i would send the RCMP, FBI, INTERPOL and moneybookers.com after this sorry sack of human waste but i have better things to do.

peace... and keep your stick on the ice

i know it sounds too good to be true, that's why i'm asking around for your "gut feeling" about it. don't worry, i wasn't born yesterday and i know how to protect myself in these matters. i surely would never even consider the deal unless i have the VIN in hand and was able to search the rightful registered owner. the escrow company checks out 99.9999% safe. i did some searching and there are reports of various scams using moneybookers as a tool. the real proof will be when they ask me for personal details or to send money using their bank or even worse a money wire transfer service to a moneybookers account. i now am just curious as an agent of the media to see this to its inevitable outcome. if nothing else it will make a good report for a BUYER BEWARE column on CBC RADIO.

what happens to the ones that sound too good to be true but really are?

I have a chance to buy a vehicle for a VERY VERY low price (almost too good to be true). Problem (or paranoia) is that the seller has left the country and is running the deal though an online brokering agent-- moneybookers.com . Does anyone have any experience in these matter? Is it safe? What should I look out for? What demands can I ask of the seller other than the VIN and to actually see the car?

I really want this car and the price is right. I need your input.

Hi,
I know that you have many choices on AutoTrader and I appreciate that you contacted me.
The car is in a perfect condition, 100% original and the engine works great. Like you already have seen in
the pictures, no scratches, no rust, no damages, no hidden defects. I sell it so cheap because I just moved from Canada. The car is still registered there. Those are the reasons why I'm selling it for $8,200.00
including the shipping and insurance charges. All documents and the notarized bill of sale will be provided
along with the car.The transaction will be made under an escrow company called Moneybookers.
I'm a serious seller and a fair trader and I prefer to deal only with a serious buyer. If you consider
yourself one please e-mail me back so we can start our deal.
Thank you!

is it just me or does this young man seem freakishly small? (seriously, no offence meant to you here) is this lens compression, the angle at which the photo was taken or parallax error? help me here, i'm just an old confused observer.

^^ thought porn was a no-no on this site!!!!!!!!! can't wait to see it in action.

@PR3M4TUR3D3T0N4T10N... GREAT PICS!!!!! the b&w are most effective. did you use a slave flash or a reflector to fill in? the scene is very good, the softail harley in the backgorund and the old 7Up coolers are cool touches. if you get into the fine details, the sunglasses on the "lazy bum" are anacrhonistic, JAFO ;0). keep posting. and please do a shoot with the Celis and Death someday.

guess you weren't good enough for them, eh? you were concise, polite and direct. you also had a valid reason for asking for interim help while the call was out to the tech. personally i think it's an XY thing happening here...99.9% of copier techs are 30+ y.o. males living with their moms and still fantasize about being on a desert island with Angelina Jolie.

courage ma chère, help will come...

great photos. you only need a "good" camera to improve on what you already know. you have an artistic "eye" and have a great sense of what makes an interesting photo. keep snapping and posting.

was out with my Nancy on Friday night, pouring rain...local FM station had a "show us your ride" event. so much crap on the lot i just cruised past. Nancy said everything stopped on the lot and they were all looking at the CeliPig. i figure if my POS can still steal the show, i wonder what i would have won. i will wait the 2 months for the DVD top come out at the local Blockbuster.

I'd go with "why is my car shuddering on acceleration". I doubt it's your motor mounts though (and if it is, that's an easy repair. A few labor hours though, so not cheap, but not terribly difficult).

Does it shudder on heavy acceleration, like when you're accelerating from a stop, or does it do it every time you accelerate?

When's the last time you changed your spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor?

Hey GG, long time....
changed all that when i bought the car in '05 with NGKs and generic (UAP) wires and cap...should i go OEM or high-end?. it's mostly on heavy acceleration, from a stop, kicking it down for a pass or an on-ramp.

will post results later. in the mean-time wish me luck on my MVI...i hope they don't look too closely at the rusty doors kindasad.gif .

my car shudders on acceleration. it's quite noticeable through the steering wheel but passengers hardly feel it. my car is going to the shop tomorrow and i think i'll get them to check for bad mounts.

questions:

what should i ask them to check? i.e "can you check the motor mounts?" or "why is my shuddering on acceleration?"
what can i expect as a diagnosis? i.e. "the mounts are bad you're fokked!" or "don't worry, they all do that!"
how much can this cost? in other words have any of you had this job done?

any insight or comments on a possible motor/tranny mount replacement job would be real helpful here.

thanks

ray
