I was wondering if there are any axles from a camry that I could pull at the junkyard. There are a ton of camrys and not very many celicas, and I wasn't sure if they'd fit. For ref: my car is a 94 celica gt w/auto trans. |

QUOTE(Valo666 @ Feb 21, 2006 - 9:44 PM) if ur wheels vibrating, ur in allaignment, ur ballanced n every thing..replace ur PS belt. My car used 2 vibrate like mad at about 100KM/H..or 62MPH. Like if i was driving for more than an hour at that speed my arm would fall asleep from the vibration..lol. But yea after i got my cylinderhead fixed, my mechanic noticed my PS belt was cracked and about 2 break, he changed it..every thing is fine now. alright, i'm the lucky guy who get to get coated in grease everytime she needs something done. i replaced the driver's side axle as both CV boots were pretty much gone and grease had shot everywhere in the wheel well, along the transmission, etc. the CV joints were shot and i was able to find a refurbed one for $50. the vibration is a little less than what it was originally, but it is still there. we just took a trip last ngiht to Charlotte, NC and about 8 hours into the trip, the vibrations was back, but no where near as bad as it was. this time it feels like it is coming from the passenger side. the vibration seems to be load dependent. starting at 60, if you floor it, you can feel the vibration get worse, but if you are just cruising, it is not bad at all. also if going up a hill, the load worsens. if pushing past 90, the vibration does not seem to go away, but quicken beat. this car apparently sat for year without moving, and we are just now finding all the problems. |

just a couple quick questions... and i know everyone is going to say swap the engine, which i am going to do, eventually, but for now i want to make it a little quicker for my girlfriend. basics, a 1994 celica GT, auto, 5sfe, and slow.... i am looking into converting it to a manual now, trying to gather and research all that info as the auto just plain sucks on this car. top end -> i've searched and didn't find any info on anyone here that actually did a full port and polish on the intake manifold. i only found out that they are extremely restrictive and no on really modifies the 5s engine for NA purposes. portmatchin and polishing th intake, and possible throwing on a ported TB, or possible swapping out the TB, i have a spare 7mge TB from a 4runner project. i will be TIGing up set of headers for her and doing a mandrel bend 2.5"exhaust. Electronics -> i can't find any info on aftermarket ECUs for the 6cs. i am used to the VW world right now were i can simply plug it into my laptop and remap everything. and i missing something here, or should i go with a piggy back unit? Cheap -> is there a company that makes pulleys or other cheap modifications around the $200 mark? most of the work i am going to do myself, except for the actual machine work, like boring and honig the cylinders of the 3sgte, decking the block and head, etc. all the porting/polishing will be done at my garage, so i wouldn't consider it a waste of money, since it is just my time... please could i have some feedback and info on my thoughts? overall goals of the 5s engine is only around 180-185 hp 3sgte we are going to try and get 300hp using a spare gt28r71 from the VW project. i'm now eyeballing a gt 35! |
