QUOTE(94wrc @ Mar 28, 2006 - 2:56 AM) Good point, it may not help the N/A engines as they do need back pressure however turbo cars would run best with no exhaust or a tiny one as they need to get rid of gasses as quick as possible. I stand corrected (maybe) ![]() Nathan Zactly, we were both right ![]() |

QUOTE(94wrc @ Mar 28, 2006 - 2:40 AM) Wrong, Or certainly wrong on JDM cars, when you remove the cat you should see around a 3-5 BHP increase due to the exhaust gases exiting the system quicker, this has been proven on rolling roads. I removed mine on my GT-4 and there is a huge difference, the turbo spools up a lot quicker and it now spits flames out of the exhaust ![]() Nathan True, get rid of the gas quicker works for cars that are highly tuned and especialy blown. however it sounds like the 5Sengine in the base model over there is neither, so may not make any difference to that motor. |

I agree, but i dont think so that 2x3'' pipes are too much for a swapped gt-four. In the photo, the left pipe is fake but i have diferrent plans about it.. Both pipes will be working of course and they have to take care of a decent horsepower, so i dont think that anyone will say that it is wrong... OEM knows better how many pipes should a celica have but a lot of celicas have 50+ % horsepower than the oem engine, so you have to think about a totally different exaust system to take care of the extra power that the engine produces.. In my case, except from the extra hp that i ve got, I have also removed the catalytic converter so the pressure from the exaust gas is too high for a simple muffler. So, in order to avoid the uptake, to minimize the flames and of course to keep the db low, i have to split the rear tube to a twin muffler, or better to different mufflers. I am sure that when my project will be finished you will love the hand made rear exhaust system and mabe you will change your mind about the two different mufflers. I believe that at least in my case, i will have a gain of +15 hp with this system. Lets hope that the dyno will agree with that!! ![]() ![]()
Agreed, if you need to get rid of the gass then go ahead. You Us guys peobably won't know the ford Ka, but here in UK it's a popular runaround cheap small car. They have now released a sport version, but before that I had one and wanted more power (only comes with a 1.3) so I got a turbo conversion for that, on the rollers it went from 56bhp to 86bhp... I know you're all laughing and saying what's th point but I liked the car shape and it handled great. My point is that removing the CAT and replacing it with a much biger one from a 1.7 ford, plus upgrading to 2 1/4" exhaust all the way put the 86bhp up to 96bhp, a considerable difference by just geting rid of the extra gas. If you need a big pipe, get one! My problem is with the stuck on jobbie on the left of that photo that isn't even linked up! Rant over. ![]() |

Bumper is nice, Not sure about the wheelbarrow handles though... ![]() Some how OEM's seem to know best on where/how many tail pipes. BMW M3.... yep, seems good with 2x3" either side 1.1L 86' golf with badly fitted body kit... 4 pipes is just wrong ![]() |

My Celica is in the UK, while I'm in Japan on business. I been liiking into JDM tails and projectors... but that's a different story ![]() I'm in Sagamihara and I get the buss to the CAT plant each day, on the way I pass a dealer (went to have a look) with a Skyline GTR 80K Km for 840000yen = 4200quid = 7600bucks, thats a lot of car for not a lot of money. Us guys in the UK pay over the ods for second hand import jap cars to be imported, you guys in the US get ass F*^ed! ![]() |

Sounds like (and felt like to me) that the Celica is easily capable of handling high speeds, the GT4 is designed to get a battering from dirt track roads at rediculous speed sou the drivetrain and chasi on the lower models shouldn'y be far off. I agree with 120mph in a 70 limit is too fast, you'll rapidly approach some old biddy in her caddy doing 55 in the middle lane, but on the Autobahn... (switch to Kph thinking) I regularly visit a supplier in Elchingen, southern germany and always get a BMW 3 or audi A3/4 as a hire car, it's perfectly normal and quite safe to sit at 200Kph when there's no trafic and no intersections. Had nearly 240Kph out of a hire BMW 735 once. I reckon the Celica would handle 190Kph for good distance once you got it there. |

you should be good with more than a few thousand miles! I bought mine 3.5 years ago with 85,000 miles and have put over 120,000 on it since then...these engines go and go and go if well maintained and it sounds like ur doing just that! Spounds like you're winning BlackCelicaGT94! over 200K... wow, roll on the 1/4 mill. ![]() my mum had a golf that did 1/4 mill on one engine, was knachered by that time though ![]() |

Hi All, I was wondering as some of you lucky US guys don't need a front number plate, but some do, has anyone who needs a fromt plate removed the bumper mounted plate and re-located it? In UK the plate laws are a little different and if you are prepared to risk it (strictly speaking it's not legal), you can make your front plate up yourself in a different layout. On a previous car I used a mesh to cover the intercooler, painted white, then stenciled the car reg number on to it, cos I used the correct size letters and spacing I never got pulled for it. Was thinking of doing the same to the air intake area on the Celica... This photo on the UK Celica club shows a standard UK plate, so you can see what I mean What do you think? |

On what engine? |

I'll check with the guy who imported my 3sfe, most of the card he imports are modified already so maybe limiter was removed already. Didn't seem like a lot left but definately no limiter. Next time will check with GPS. anyone else used gps to check how far out the std speedo is? |

There's a WWII airfield near me that has infeilf race track and a central 2 1/2 mile landing strip that we test construction machines on and my JDM import indicated 140mph untill I ran out of airstrip, realise that this is realistically maybe closer to 130 but this is with a 3fe engine not beams. Didn't hit a limiter of any description though, anyone know what revs the limiter hence max theoretical is for the 140hp 3fe powered car? |

JDM brakes, which are the drum for parking and disc for breaking on the rear and discs front are excelent! A shed load better than the ones on my freinds 90' RX7 turboII, and they have to put up with stopping 300bhp, it just doesn't stop in time! why bother with any fancy drilled disks ect spend your money on cold beer and fast women! |

QUOTE(spunky393 @ Mar 16, 2006 - 3:18 PM) i think the driverside drive axle is shorter than the passenger side. it would make sence because the transmission is on the driverside of the block. Oh yea, it isn't a honda. Diverside for you, passenger (left) side for me, sort of explains it though. LSD is a bit pricey for me, will have to put up with it. Thanks all. |

Hi, Couldn't find this anywhere else but I'm sure it's out there.... but, is it all FWD celicas that break the left wheel traction first? I had a similar problem on a modofied rover metro turbo (don't worry its crap and english, you don't need to know!) which has the mini A series engine with non equal length drive shafts, this caused the traction break and indeed torque steer in the metro. Is the Celica the same? New tyres both sides, shocks in good condition, just can't explain it. |
