Jeunesse, it may be tommorow, IDK. I've got to get out of work first. It's for a 202 frame right? iv tryed fiber glass repairs to my tank No offense bro, But that's a BAD idea. Unless you're using a vinyl ester resin... Epoxy resin (the only kind sold anywhere except for a speciality store) Will dissolve in gasoline.Actually EPOXY RESIN IS what you want to use if you are going to fiberglass your gas tank. The quick gas tank repair kits use this type of resin. EPOXY RESIN_INSTANT GAS TANK REPAIR Read the ingredient here for EPOXY RESIN The name of the the other type is polyester resin. This is the more "common" less expensive variety of fiberglass resin. |

woah I think everyone's getting off on the wrong foot here... this is getting harsh and ugly... QUOTE Welcome to the Off Topic forum! Please read this post completely before posting in the off topic forum. Some basic rules must be followed in order for this forum to not get out of control. These rules are the same as the rules for the rest of the forums, but let me reiterate them below: 1. Try to keep your posts clean. These forums, like the rest of the site, are designed to be a family-safe environment, ... This also means not attacking others in your posts. Try to be friendly, especially to newbies, and treat others how you want to be treated... 4. Please refrain from posting pointless posts, such as posts that are just smilies or posts that say stuff like "I'm with stupid" or "Page 2 Owned!"). This includes sarcastic posts about making fun of someone's car, or playful arguing with one another in a thread. These posts simply take over threads and turn them into useless garbage. im still confused on what either one of those is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cQvcZlo2yo This is lane splitting. And both splittnig and filtering are prohibited in Florida. Check the speed of the youtube vid. Then watch this version Lane splitting normal speed Umm...It actually takes nine minutes and thirty one seconds to do what the other vid. claims is done in four minutes and forty five seconds. Even at the normal speed this motorcyclist is still relying heavily on other motorists to follow predictable traffic protocol. Because if anyone else switches lanes without signaling, cuts over 2 lanes at a time, or wanders in in their lane ((such as the black Chevy SUV and the Black Mustang @1:51 normal vid.) (or @ :53 seconds in the sped up vid)) or he's going to have to buy another ZR7. Yellow94GT |

QUOTE(jgreening @ Jun 21, 2007 - 4:42 PM) QUOTE(massbrandon @ Jun 21, 2007 - 1:51 PM) ^^ they are not taking their cars without it being necessary. The cars that are being crushed (if Im not wrong) are the ones with stolen parts and such on them. Who says what is necessary? Is it necessary to crush a 1998 Integra Type R because there is a stolen transmission in it? The owner sourced the transmission from somewhere - he didn't steal it himself. Why not just demand the return of the stolen goods? An innocent third party purchaser has no way of knowing if used parts are stolen. Maybe they should run the risk of losing their investment if the part turns out to be stolen, but does anyone really think its fair to have their whole car crushed????????? Either they crush the car because of stolen parts or they crush it because of street racing (which is what the article is about). Either way, its still BS. 1. Ordinarily I am not in favor for sweeping away of people's freedom. I would say however that the tragedy over the street racer's due process rights bothers me less than crushing the cars of those who are using them to race on public roads. uberschall made a good comparision: "street racing is simply being treated more like other criminal acts, like carrying a gun in public. the moment you decide to do it, you forfeit some legal rights." 2. As far as stolen parts goes: Hoang the "owner" of that particular 1998 Integra Type R said he had been caught using to race on public roads. Maldonado's "vehicle identification sticker apparently fell of". Zavala, who admits he's been involved in street racing, estimates he and his mother spent about $10,000 on improvements to his car. The vehicle code allows law enforcement to destroy vehicle even if a part is has been proven to be stolen in California. It was interesting that the article mentioned only individuals who had been involved directly with racing on public roads. You better buy parts from a legitimate source if you live or drive in California. Yellow94GT |

QUOTE(uberschall @ Jun 21, 2007 - 2:05 AM) street racing is simply being treated more like other criminal acts, like carrying a gun in public. the moment you decide to do it, you forfeit some legal rights. i've never understood the street racer mentality anyway. serves them right...especially the loser whose mom was paying for his stupidity. i hope more of them DO crash. maybe then they will learn that public roads are NOT the appropriate place for their shenanigans. I can understand the reason for taking a very serious response to a very serious threat to public safety. Law enforcement can seize and destroy vehicles that: 1. are proven to have stolen parts 2. involved in street racing Crushing cars is aimed at stopping the cycle street racing and the stolen parts that are sometimes used to support street racing. I say that this is good for the community if it decreases the numbers of deaths or crimes that are associated with stolen parts or racing on the public roads. QUOTE(celi_gt_racer @ Jun 18, 2007 - 11:19 AM) I was there...me and my friend left just about an hour before the burnout exhibition started, but we had a friend that stayed to watch it - he sayed the black marks where the car was fishtailing came 2ft. from where he was standing, and the car went into the crowd about 6 feet out from where he was...if i would have stayed - my friend and I would have been right there beside him. He also sayed he saw a leg in the street afterwards... horrible stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvjHEgo8I10...ted&search= Clearly this is a very sad day for many, horribly tragic for some. I am not wishing to minimize the suffering of the injured or deceased (and their friends and families) or point the finger of blame at the contestants, spectators of event organizers. I was curious about the safety precautions taken. Most drag events use double or triple metal guard rails along the side of the strip. Some use concrete barricades to contain the vehicles within the raceway. Others I have seen use a variety of less safe means to contain the vehicles. Logs http://www.namethattrack.com/track65bst.jpg Fences http://www.namethattrack.com/ntt101.jpg Single guard rail http://www.namethattrack.com/track60.jpg What barricades we used to contain the vehicles within the roadway at this event? 1.There are a lots of example of cars that are exceeding their traction limits. Too bad he doesn't have some sticky tires to hook up more than he does. Of course it is difficult to really know but, it makes me wonder if he really doesn't actually want to use slicks & polyurethane suspension bushings because then he would have no more traction excuses. Sure it's cool to do a smokey burnout to display mad power. BUT, if you're spinning you're not winning. 2. This Cyprus Supra driver consistenly "leaves his foot into it" past the the rpm where the fuel cut or rev limiter begins. He's looses serious momentum each time he "over revs" it. 3. Unfortunately the acceleration performance is as terrible as the way it sounds. 4. Here's a vid of a DIFFERENT very strong Supra. They can SOUND great by only briefly getting into the fuel cut or rev limiter and making amazing music during a fly by without fully hooking up the tires. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVl9d0SswsA...ted&search= Yellow94GT |

QUOTE(My2Celi @ Dec 31, 2006 - 3:41 AM) I was just wandering if its really important to torque it at the right spec. If so, what torque wrench would you recommend? Use the proper torque specs when you work on EVERTHING you want to work properly and know that is going to not come apart simply because it was not tight enough or was too tight. Most components are designed to be held together with the proper fastener, fully driven, seated, not striped and torqued to the specifications listed in the manual. Sure there may be some situations where you would not use a torque wrench they are not limited to engine components Consider your brakes, suspension parts, etc. Guessing here is just that, guessing. Most auto parts suppliers have torque wrenches that are affordable and easy to understand and use. My opinion is, Get one and use it. Yellow94GT |

QUOTE(Camax333 @ Nov 26, 2006 - 12:57 PM) Okay...so the car only makes the noise when it is on and moving forward. It does not make the noise in reverse at all, it does not make the noise if it is off and rolling in nuetral and it makes the noise whether the car is on and moving in nuetral or in drive. The noise stops when the car stops and seems to get slightly louder when the brakes are applied. What are your suggestions? What are your suggestions? 1. “only makes the noise when it is on and moving forward” This is a combination of 2 situations engine running and moving. 2. It “does not make the noise in reverse” at all, This indicates direction is required for the noise 3. it does not make the noise if it is off and rolling in neutral This indicates direction can be ruled out for the source of the noise 4. and it makes the noise whether the car is on and moving in neutral or in drive. Indicates that noise is not Transmission Drive 5. The “noise stops when the car stops” Since we know the car is quiet when in neutral and rolling 6. and seems to get slightly louder when the brakes are applied.
7. #1 and # 6 are both situations where more than one factor is occurring So we don't know if the car makes noise when the brakes are applied when rolling in neutral 8. We still need to know 2 things. If you try both of those situations I think you'll help locate the the noise. A) If the car makes noise when the brakes are applied when rolling in neutral then there are brake noises. Yellow94GT |

QUOTE(Camax333 @ Nov 24, 2006 - 10:41 PM) Just recently when I start my car and begin driving, there is a squeeling noise that can be heard from the drive rs side (I can't determine if it is from the front or the rear). When I put the car in reverse for a short period of time, then put it back into drive, the noise disappears...any thoughts? Some things you could next time the car is cold (sitting overnight). 1. Does the noise happen only when the car is moving in Drive with the engine running? 2. Will the noise stop if you put the car in neutral? 3. Will the noise stop when in neutral at different engine rpm? 4. Will the sound stop only when moving in Reverse with the engine running? 5. Does it happen when the engine is shut off but the car is still moving? Put it neutral and slowly roll down a small hill and listen. 6. Does the car make the noise when it is warmed up or only when cold start up? If you are getting different answers to the 6 questions above there will be high probability that you can find the source of your noise. Yellow94GT |

Actually I did mine in September. My outer cv joint boots were cracked. I cleaned and re greased all four joints replaced the boots and replaced the axle seals while I had the axles out. It really helps to find a knowledgeable parts supplier, either that or do all the parts research yourself so any ignorant parts people can't mess up your maintenance projects. The guys at Advance Auto had the seals in stock. They were only $6.88 each (much less than my local Toyota dealership) with a year replacement warrantee. My local Toyota dealer only had "kits" that included parts I didn't need. Best of luck, Yellow94GT |
