Is the celi in question a hatch?
If so i need the plastic that goes in the hatch that covers where the tails mount.
I also need the cover that goes across the hatch.

ok i thought my wheel bearing on the driver side was going out and i decided scince i was
going to have it apart now would be a good time change the cv axel as well......
to make a long story short i went to pop the axle out and found the end that goes in the tranny
was inserted all the way in but has a lot of play while in the tranny i mean it literally will
wobble up down and side to side about a half inch or more
it looks like what ever holds it is worn out
my uncle told me to change the tranny and that it will start leaking fluid once it gets worse
which i am suprised it isn't doing now
what i need to know is the tranny in a corolla or a prizim the same cause that is the only thing i can
locate that i can afford i have a 94 st auto and i know where i can get one out of a corolla and a prizim
both 7afe of the same year but i am unsure if the share the same tranny
any help will be very nice thanks

Hey i was just wondering if anyone knows what the size of throttle body is on the 7afe intake?
Also is there one on another engine that would be larger and would fit?
would there be any noticable advantages of swapping this?

hey when you replaced the valve did you clean the hole in the intake if it is like mine was it was full
of carbon as in completely blocked and if it is blocked it will do the same as before.
also you may want to clean the tube that hooks to the valve itself.
good luck.

Thanks for the info but as it turned out i guess i was just lucky to
catch the timing belt before it popped.
After rechecking the marks and everything and it all being correct
I decided to check the the way the plugs were firing.
The fire was weak and yellow instead of blueish like i am used to seeing.
I don't know which part went bad cause the parts store said they
couldnt check that type of coil or ign module.
so i went to the junk tard and got a whole distributor from
a 93 prizim plugged it up and bam she lives.
The best part is that the coil new was 40 the module was like 248.
Total price for distributor with all the stuff in it 29 dollars
cause he said that geo parts are cheap.

well i was on my second check of the timing marks and they are lined up.
the mark on the crank pully is at zero which put the keyway at 12 oclock
the cam gear hs a lil hole which is lined up with the indention on the cam bearing cap
which also puts the cam keyway at 12 oclock.
is that correct?
the plugs were soaked an look like they have been in there forever so the flooding
may have killed them they were barely firing so i am gonna get som new ones and
try clearing the cylinders.
if it still won't start i'll check the marks again.
if it still won't start then i'm stumped.

it sarted out as i went to leave the house and hit the key it stumbled then hit up like normal
i went to back up and it shut off and would not start back up.
i cheked and had fire and fuel i checked the timing belt and it was loose so
i replaced the belt and tensioner cause the old tensioner was locked up
it sounds like it is out of time.
i dissasembled it to make sure i had the marks lined up properly and they were.
is it possible to have the cam 180 degrees off?
also i havn't took the distributor out
is it made so it only goes in one way
or does it have a cog type gear on it?
other than that is there anything else that could make it do this it
just keeps turning over and will not start.

Ok guys i might be stupid but i am in the middle of changing my timming belt.
I don't see any way to adjust the valves on mine the cam lobes sit on what i
would guess are the lifters.
i know mine is a different engine 7afe are they different? i mean in the way the cam is installed
but other than replacing the lifters if that is in fact what they are i would not see
any way to adjust the valves.
Is the 5sfe different in that way?
I have yet to experiance the 5s engine......just wondering.

yours looks a lil better than mine mine needs a good buff job till i can afford to paint her
i'll have pics soon as i can get my camera back.

The belt should only have about 1/4" to 1/2" of play in it. Your starting issue may be a result of the belt jumping a tooth or two because of the loose issue or the belt has stretched out over time and simply needs to be tightened back up. Check to see that the timing is correct by lining up the crank pulley at TDC (the mark on the balancer should be right on zero) and the cam pulley mark is at the 12 o' clock position. Look through the small inspection hole on the cam pulley spoke and you should see an indentation on the 1st exhaust cam bearing cap through the hole. The proper cam bearing mark is the one thats most towards the front of the vehicle (if there are two marks on the cap)

hey yeah thats what i am thinking....at least i hope that is all that it is.
thanks for the timing mark info as this is my first time doing a dual cam.
also it has a lot of play i'm gonna get a new belt and possiblt the
idler/tensioner too.

Does the timing belt on the 7afe have any slack on either side?
I checked it by removing the cover when i got my celi.
The belt didn't look too bad but i don't remember it having any slack in it.
I think one of the gears may have jumped place cause i started it up and
was backing up and it just shut off.
I checked the plugs to insure they were firing and tried some starting fluid.
All it would do is turn over and not start so i pulled the cover to see if the belt
broke it is still intact but has about an inch or more of slack in it.
So is it supposed to have the slack in it?
Was just wondering before i rip it apart.

QUOTE(presure2 @ Apr 25, 2006 - 4:10 PM)

so wait, slow down.
you paid toyota 900$ to do a master and slave,
and when that didnt work, you paid them 1300 to replace a shifter cable and leak??
now your thinking about paying them ANOTHER 900$ for them to actually do the clutch, the thing that was more than likely the problem in the first place?
ouch, i bet your butt hurts REAL bad on that one.
i think your getting screwed royally.

ditto big time
before you spend more money at the dealer i would try to bleed
the clutch system first
i did a slave on a cavalier once and it didn't have a bleeder valve on the
slave and untill i got all the air out it would do the same thing cause the clutch wasn't fully engaging
which from the sound of that dealer it sounds like somthing they
would do to get you to bring it back in so they could charge you more money.

i dont even think i removed my crossmember during my swap, but we did break 3 different ratchets a torque wrench and an actual breaker bar wrench on my axel nut.

I havn't tried a torque wrench but have broke my 1/2 in drive ratchet and 2 breaker bars as well
trying to do the same thing what did you use to finally get it loose cause i haven't got mine loose?
