QUOTE(Kadett @ May 1, 2006 - 1:20 PM) I know far a fact there different. I had the samething but then with the 3S-GE transmission. LSD were completly different. So, the Quaife LSD offered for a similar year MR2 will NOT work? Because the other alternatives for LSD's in my 94 S54 are not what I'm looking for. Speed |

The belt should only have about 1/4" to 1/2" of play in it. Your starting issue may be a result of the belt jumping a tooth or two because of the loose issue or the belt has stretched out over time and simply needs to be tightened back up. Check to see that the timing is correct by lining up the crank pulley at TDC (the mark on the balancer should be right on zero) and the cam pulley mark is at the 12 o' clock position. Look through the small inspection hole on the cam pulley spoke and you should see an indentation on the 1st exhaust cam bearing cap through the hole. The proper cam bearing mark is the one thats most towards the front of the vehicle (if there are two marks on the cap) |

Anybody know if the differential side of the CV shafts are the same from the 94 MR2 S54 to the Celica S54? I only ask because the LSD I want to buy is for a 94 MR2 S54 and the site says nothing about an application for a 94-96 Celica S54. Just wondering if they're the same. Thanks, Speed |

Plug wires have a minor role in fuel economy. If you had a problem with the wires, the engine would misfire or stumble at idle or under load. Besides, Toyota wires are really good. I've seen original wires w/ 150K+ miles on them, still going strong!! However... Start with the basics: engine air filter and PCV valve. If both of those are okay, run some fuel injector cleaner through (STP makes a few that just pour in the tank). Otherwise I use an engine treatment that works really well. It's made by Automotive Restore Products. It's available at any local auto parts retailer. It's in a little silver can (easily recognized). Add that to the oil when you change it; it works like magic!! After that, check the throttle body. If it's dirty, clean it!! After that....I'll have to agree that 26-27mpg is pretty good for a ten year old car!! -Speed |

QUOTE(elvasoshexai @ Apr 7, 2006 - 9:03 AM) ok... i feel retarded... but my old car.. it had a tank on the side where the coolant went... and on the tank it had high/low to show if ur coolant is low or not... on the celica... there's no high/low line and the tank seems to be below a bunch of stuff so you can't see really... so... i was just wondering.. where am i supposed to fill it to? i have no idea if it's low or regular right now Fill to half way between full and low line. Shine a flashlight down into the tube and the line should be visible. Kinda tricky to see at first! -Speed |

Go to Nopi.com. Jet Performance offers a new PROM that they'll solder into your ECU. Costs about $300 or so. I haven't personally done this but it is one route to consider; though you have to give up driving the car for awhile while Jet does the work. An SAFC ii is made by Apexi. It is an aftermarket fuel management system which allows you to adjust injector duty cycle at specific RPM ranges. They're pretty much a universal fit and require some splicing into the factory ECU harness. The cool part is that it's adjustable. The only downsides are the wiring and the cost. I think they run around $400. www.apexi.com (really high quality JDM aftermarket parts) www.horsepowerfreaks.com (aftermarket parts retailer) -Speed |

QUOTE(Dr_Tweak @ Mar 30, 2006 - 7:19 AM) It's a helical. It's an automatic torque biasing differential, no "1-way" "2-way" "1.5 way" stuff. Though you could think of it as a 1-way. -Doc OK. Do you know of any one who has this equipped on their car? I did a little digging in to this ths Quaife ATB and to me it almost sounds like it functions similar to a 1.5 way. The tech description I read mentioned that it is engaged under most circumstances. I was under the impression that FWD vehicles do not benefit from the LSD being engaged under deceleration because of torque steer issues. What is an automatic torque biasing differential? And how is it better or worse than a straight up clutch type 1 way (other than the maintainance issue)? Feel free to be as technical as you wish. I work on Toyota's for a living -Speedball |

QUOTE(cg97 @ Mar 30, 2006 - 12:06 AM) tonight i put my rims on and i came to 2 conclusions. damn is summer way better than winter;) and wow do i ever need lowering springs. i didnt think it would be that bad of a gap but yeah, it sure is. im just worried that the tein's wont be low enough. OHHH the Teins will definately be "low enough". You don't wanna go too low or (1) your suspension will bottom out and/or (2) the wheels won't clear the wheel well; depending on your wheel diameter and width |

Anybody know of a good place to shop for or research limited slip differentials (LSD) for the S54 M/T on the 94 and up Celica's? I already know Kaaz, Cusco, Quaiffe, and TRD make 1.5 way and 2 way LSD's for it but I was specifically looking for a helical 1 way for under $1K? |
