VERY COMMON PROBLEM.... my 1994 celica st with the 1.8L has the same problem. The valve guide seals go very easily and have to be changed. My bro and i are about to do it in my car. They arent hard to change just time consuming and i wouldn't recommend a first time wrench to do it yourself.

Hi guys saw this forum and thought i would ask you,

Ok here it goes, i have a 1994 celica, with the 4 cylinder engine. Not to long ago i started to notice alot of smoke on intial start-up and soon after it smokes when i drive. Now it seems like it is spitting oil out of the exhaust when it starts. My bro and i checked the spark-plugs, compression (165 all accros not sure if thats normal but they were all equal). We checked other things but he knows more than i do. If you have any tips or questions about what we did post and ill find out. I have also read other forums and people say it is the valve guide seals, but is spitting oil a chacterist of bad valve guide seals? Thanks and plz Help!
