Well I'm going to get a new car, Turns out that the cam seal went and that is where all the oil is coming from. Looking for a good home for a Celica that is a good Candidate for engine swap. What do you think I could get for it. Also if you looking I live in Pittsburgh PA she is drive able for short distances but the oil leak will need to be fixed. It has a new inspection, brakes, battery, plugs wires, distributor and coil. All within one month and I'mnot going to put another dime into it. I love my Celica but it has to go. Where is the best place to post this sale and how much do you think I can get for it? 2.2 GT, Manual Black 94 |

Hey is a pretty good mech, never had a problem and he always tells me up front what is going on. Our family has been using him for many years. If that is all I can't wait to get my Celica back... How about that bolt that I broke off how much will it cost to tap it to remove it? Has anyone had this done it broke so easy and the engine was cold .. . |

I did that before I got my camera out.... smart huh it is called flex steel and I used it to repair my top of my radiator so I thought that if that was where the leak was coming from it would seal it up and all would be fine. No harm though it is just some super high heat epoxy. I will be dropping this off to my mechanic tomorrow and have him look at it. It is over my head I think it will have to be traded in if it is not a cheap fix. How much do you think a rear main seal would cost? My mechanic said that it could be a oil sending unit and may be a cheap fix, any thought on this? -wade |

well I got my camera out after messing around with it and I beleive that I have made matters a little worse. -broke a bolt off -sealed up where I thought the oil was coming out of Then I got my camera should have done this first.... The oil is coming out behind the plastic pulley cover. about how much do you think to have this issue mended and would it require pulling of the engine? I stuck a piece of a paper towel into the broken bolt hole ...yeh me .... :-( |

I have a problem now, This use to be a small leak but now it is a full blown 5 quart a day engine draining monster of a problem. I have located the source of the problem I would like to see what can be done about the issue. Basically -I removed the protective plastics from the passenger side of the engine. -Cleaned the area of Oil - Located the location of the leak I originally though that the problem was with the oil pan. So I tightened a couple of the bolts and it still has the same leak. The leak is a fast leak from the rear of the engine above the oil drain bolt in the oil pan. I have enclosed a picture of where the leak is coming from. (this picture is of a 5SFE engine from a mr2 found it on the internet just to show where this leak is coming from) What do you think I tried to tighten the two bolts and they seemed loose but did not want to put too much pressure on them because the engine was still kinda hot. The arrow on this picture is where the oil is spewing from I will attempt to get better pictures with my camera today If I can not get this issue resolved. Any suggestions or help would be great.. |

No one corrected me on this I was running around looking for a 33mm and no one had one... lol Anyways I did not want to mess any one up. I need to get a 30mm or a 1-1/4 socket back out to the store. I have the nuckle it is in ruff shape so im going to try and clean it up a bit and I will let you know how it went.. I was reading on through some of the forums and found out that it was a 32mm socket so I went and purchased it and no.... It is not the right one it is a little too small.. I have a 94 GT does this matter because the socket that I purchased does not fit. I purchased a 32mm socket and it does fit.. now im thinking about it the socket might not be deep enough.. hmmm... back to the parts store 3 times now I GOT THE NUT OFF >>>LOL 32mm Axle Socket.... Black worked very well |

QUOTE(blu94gt @ May 6, 2006 - 4:30 AM) You're replacing the same side that was just done 6 months ago? I Had the bearing replaced about 6 months ago. and the axle replaced with a junk yard one about 3 months ago. It really sounds like a growl with poping when making sharp low speed turns. Im just thinking that the shop that put the bearing in did a really ****ty job. |

I have a 94 GT and it is making a crazy growling noise from the front drivers side. One mechanic said that I need new tires and that was what causing all the noise. I really dont think that it would sound like metal on metal also when I turn at low speeds the axle will make a click or popping sound. I had already replaced the wheel bearing and drivers side axle about 6 months ago. Is this common I think where I took it to may have done a bad job or over looked a warn hub perhaps. but Im looking for some info on how to get this bearing out and replace the axle. Im determined not to take it to some shop and charge me out the ass to have it done again 6 months from now. I know from some of the posts that I will need a 33mm socket and some sort of breaker bar or Air wrench. What I really want to know if any one has a diagram of the front drivers side steering system. I have the following tools. 55pc tool set Pipe for leverage Liquid wrench Tool box full of various tools 2 ton jack Jack stands From what I have read on here I will need race bearing removal tool 33mm Socket Scan Diagram of the front drivers side stearing system (Axle + Wheel bearing exploded) Any Info that would guide me that would be great... Thanks in advance I dont have any power/air tools.. can this been done by hand? |

I just want everybody to know that I did infact get the job done and it was very easy. The hardest part was getting the rotor off. So I went and got a hammer after it. Hit it twice and it was off .. I used some liuqid wrench on it and could not be happier.. I have a new problem now with axles I will make a new post if you can help that would be great. Again thanks to all for the help. |

QUOTE(LewFX @ Apr 28, 2006 - 12:59 AM) jack rear up, take off tire, use 10mm to take off bottom caliper bolt, slide caliper off, remove pads. use 14mm socket to get to the caliper backing off, one on the bottom, one on top. slide rotor off. put new rotor on, spray with some de-queel, reverse process, add anti-squeel goop to back of pads, slide in, push caliper (round part) in to give pads and rotor room, tighten caliper bolt, put wheel back on. press brakes a few times. the toughest part is the top 14mm bolt. its hard to get to, an extension might help, just dont strip it! Thanks alot for the tip I was a little confused when I took off the wheel last week I just did not know how to get the rotor off ... Thanks a million I did not post were i got the parts from. the rotors are on clearance at tirerack.com so if you need them I would order some 20 is the cheapest that I have found them... Thanks again for the reply |
