I took a small punch and ground down the end so it would fit in the hole. Then I was able to tap it right out. I also used the drill bits. I searched and searched at the local hardware store and could not find an actual pin that was the right size. I only had to fix one side for the time being. Nice Tech Tip. |

Just found these numbers by mistake. Mine is the 1995 at 6004 made. The funny thing is I contacted both Toyota and ACS when we bought ours and I was unable to get anywhere. Thanks |

Does anyone know where I can buy the rear window insert for my 95 Convertible? I was able to find one for our old Sebring but can't seem to find one for the Celica. |

I'm glad to hear your GF is OK. We bought our 6GC with the money from a very similar accident. My wife was driving a Chrysler Sebring convertible and got in a head on collision with a ten wheel Mack that decided to cut her off when she had the right of way. Antoher stupid truck driver. No offense to truck drivers. There are stupid car drivers too. There are just so many out there now days that the stupid ones stick out. I used to be one myself, uhhh........a truck driver I mean. |

I did the exact same thing on the motor job on my truck. All I had in a 19mm was a 3/8 drive so I put an adapter on my breaker bar and a pipe on that and SNAP! Craftsman did replace it. I also broke a 3/8 drive ratchet which was also replaced. I ended up buying a 1/2" drive socket and I had no more issues. My breaker bar is a Snap-On. You should never use your torque wrenck as a breaker bar. It's for tourquing only. Like Zacman and Bitter said, Liquid Wrench and the right tool for the right job makes all the difference. |

It may be hard to keep clean but I prefer the dark blue. Mine is black so I know how you feel. But there is something to be said for keeping your car clean. Just because it appears more dirty, it really isn't. You can just see it better. If you are really picky about keeping it clean then it doesn't really matter what color it is. The darker colors look soooo nice when they are clean and super shiny. |

I have some experience with both as well. The bottom line is that it depends on how you plan on driveg the car. If you want to see the back tires lite up and want to slide the ass end around a lot then buy the Mustang. If you want something that will be more dependable and better on fuel then get the Celica. Buy the best one you can afford. You will be happier in the long run. I recently bough a 1995 convertible for probably a little more than I should have spent but it is a low mileage car and is mint. I looked at some newer ones for less money but they were not nearly as nice. Good luck with whatever you decide. Both cars are pretty fun to drive and both are fairly easy to work on. |

I've paid $30 for one lenz for other cars that are easier to find in the junk yard. $40 for both, especially if they are a bit hard to find is quite a find my friend. Buy them before someone else does. |

Thanks, As I said my wife is the big vert fan. We had the Chrysler Sebring convertible for about four years until it lost a battle with a ten wheel Mack truck a couple of months back. This one is built much better. |

The front end on our 95 Celica is stock. The paint is in nearly perfect condition and I was considering buying a bra to protect the front from road rash. I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with chipping on their 6G's and if there is even a need to get a bra. The paint is black and every flaw shows up clear as day, otherwise I wouldn't consider one. The other thing is there is no license plate frame on the front of ours. Did these come with them or do I have to rig up something myself? Thanks, Dave |

I believe they are just OEM USDM tails. The only mods that I'm aware of are the wheels and the trunk lid. Apparently, the spoiler comes with the trunk lid and not seperately. At least that's what the previous owner was told. As far as the drop tops, I have never been a particular fan either. My wife is the one that likes to drop her top..........hehehe. She had a Chrysler Sebring convertible before this one. That was a complete POS. I will never buy another one of those again no matter how good of a deal it is. The top leaked all over and the interior smelled like mildew. This one seems pretty tight so far. I have read that these were very well built compared to assembly line convertibles because they were all done after market instead of during assembly. I would be curious to find out how many of these were produced in 1995 if anyone knows how to tell. Thanks again. |

I noticed that no one responded to your post so I will offer what I can. I am not sure if they are interchangable but I was told by a friend who is AC certified that the compressor on my 1995 Chevy would not be interchangable with an older R22 compressor. He said that they run at different pressures and the lines and plugs are different. They have conversion kits for the old systems to change the gas but I don't believe that necessarily makes them interchangable. There should be a label somewhere specifying which gas and how many pounds are required somewhere in the engine compartment. Make sure they are the same adn make sure all the plugs are the same as well. You can also look at the fittings where the AC tech would attach the hoses. The R134A connections are quite a bit larger than the R12 lines. Someone else more knowledgable with AC systems should be able to answer your question better. You could try calling a place that services them and tell them you simply can't afford a new one and ask if the used one will fit. Another option is to look up the compressors from the two different models on Autozone or Advanced Auto and see if the part numbers are the same. Last resort, call the Toyota parts department. Good luck and repost once you have it figured out. I would be interested in what you find out. |

I would recommend everything 94 GT suggested. Especially the manual. I have all kinds of manuals in my garage because I have bought one for almost every vehicle I have ever owned. The manual is probably the most valuable tool you will have. In fact, I believe I have three for Celicas. I am not sure of the year ranges. If you are interested, I can mail one to you COD. I'll check the model years tonight but I think I may have you covered. I'm only concerned with paying for the postage. The only other suggestion I have is to check the timing with the light before you even loosen the distrubutor nut. In many cases it is already fine. |

I would like to go to the meet but it is very short notice for me since I just learned of it this morning. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make this one. My wife and I both have to work Saturday and Sunday looks like a wash out, which sucks too since I am scheduled for a deep sea fishing trip. I may bail on that too. Thanks for the warm welcome and the invitation. Are there other NE meets scehduled this spring/summer? |

I'm not a big low rider fan. I am a big airbrush and flame fan and those flames look terrific. I have been thinking of getting into airbrushing as a hobby. Mostly on motorcycles. Do you have any suggestions as to what kind of brush I should get as a beginner or any books/videos that might be helpful? |

I guess I did pretty well for myself this morning. I only paid $2.97 for 87. I have slowly converted my heard of vehicles over to all Toyota except my motorcycle. I had a Chevy K2500 4x4, extended cab, long bed truck. I just sold it because it was costing me way too much in fuel. I was only getting between 11-12 mpg with it. I used to do side work with it but I haven't been getting enough work to justify the cost of running the bohemeth. I got a 93 Toyota 4x4 instead. I just about doubled my mileage. |

I thought I would introduce myself to everyone. I am new to 6GCELICAS and this is my first post here. I'm not a newbie, just new here and new to 6G Celicas. I recently bought a 1995 Celica GT convertible with automatic transmission and black leather interior. I would have prefered a manual tranny but this car was for my wife. It is pretty much stock with the exception of the 17" wheels and the rear spoiler/trunk lid. It also came with the stock 15" wheels and tires. I got it from a guy in his seventies. He had it dealer maintained right on schedule, kept it garaged and never drove it in the winter. He was selling it because he can't drive it anymore. The wind blew on his neck when he had the top down. I attached a picture. I have some others too but I still have to upload them. I will add them if anyone is interested in seeing them. This is the third Toyota I've added to our fleet. My daughter has a 1987 Celica GT hatchback and I drive a 1993 Toyota 4x4 pick-up. I've come to actually enjoy working on these. They are pretty simple compared to other vehicles I've owned. The most recent POS was my wife's 1996 Chrysler Sebring convertible. It got hit and totalled by a Mack truck, thank you very much. So I used the money to get her the GT. She absolutely loves it. It is her first Yota. I'm sure I will be around now that I've found this forum. Take care for now. Dave |
