Hello fellow Celica owners!
I know a few of us with the 5sfe are having issues with our Celicas not liking cold mornings.
I had the horrible loss of power, sputtering, trouble going up hills when the car was cold or after driving at highway speeds for a while, low idle, stalling and needing to keep my foot on the gas pedal for a few seconds when I first started the car on any morning if ambient temperature was below 40*F (4*C).
Every post I've read said change temperature sensors. I did that and it didnt work. My 5sfe does not have a cold start injector like someone told me. Okay, so what I did was grab a MAP sensor from the junk yard and put it in for ****s and giggles and now I have no issues with cold start or power loss. So if anyone here has the same problems I did, try the MAP sensor. It might just do the trick.

Best Regards,
JohnnyCeee

You need to adjust the throttle valve cable from the throttle body to trans, I don't remember which way you need to adjust it for it upshifting too early but I think you need to add some slack to the cable. It can also force downshifts more readily to make the car feel a little peppier and to make highway passing easier.

Thank you very much

I would greatlyrics appreciate it if somebody would help me out here...
The differential part of my transaxle recently failed so I bought a used transaxle from a scrapyard. The new transmission shifts early, like my old one did when it was cold, even when I floor it after driving for an extended period of time. New fluid and filter done at installation. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.
