Hi, I have a chance to buy a beautiful 2003 T-Sport (that's the 190PS GTS outside europe), VVTLi engine, fully kitted: Sunroof, parking sensors, auto aircon etc...

And fscking leather seats :S

I hate leather. I even hate artificial leather. Especially in a car.

I'm a strong supporter of human and animal rights and the thought of skinned beings makes me vomit.

Nevertheless, if anybody owns one here, could you please let me know if the black leather seats are synth or animal origin?

If synth I'd just buy covers, and if leather I'd spend a couple hundred euros to refurbish them in alcantara.

Thanks!

PS

If this is not the right place to ask, please recommend a good 7th gen forum. Thank you.

OK so that's 1 vote for rebuildable.

Could others check and confirm this? Don't want to order wrong parts!

1.8ST european model! Sealed struts or rebuildable???

What's the difference between sealed and rebuildable struts and how do I know which ones do I need?

Also, is it mandatory to replace the mounting kit or are they usually fine? (Since it's a mounting kit, my idea is that it is either good or bad, since it's fixed to the chassis unlike the shock absorbers which take the punishment). (and also it's a 6th gen celice. It does not fall apart, hence my questioning the new mounting kits).

Could somebody also please give me a part number for the protection kit?

And some reputable euro or, if all fails, US online dealers? Thanks again.

Is this why you're selling the Turbo? Dude, just put it into a garage for a year, it's not worth the sale.

yepp, that's the one. it's the most prevalent kind in europe. handy, but not so handy when it comes to navigation.

although, checking out the prices of the better navi units, they are simply EXTORTION!!!

I mean, my phone has garmin satnav in it, and it's a two year old model. and even then it was kind of cheap. And now kenwood, alpine and pionner try to convince me that a full 2 din touchscreen navi costs 1000 euros?! For real?!

Actually yes you can, please turn brain on before posting.

There is a separate 1 din dash kit, with two pockets underneath, and a 2 din dash kit.

Most european cars came with 1din, 2 pockets.

I NEED A 2 DIN DASH KIT PART NUMBER. FACTORY OR AFTERMARKET.

"lol"(FU)

Could somebody please tell me the factory or aftermarket part numbers of a double din dash kit?

and everything else I need to convert my 1-din factory layout to be able to mount a new 2 din navi kit?

Thank you!

Doggamnit. I took a spin in a 2001 MR2 and **** my pants how nicely it responds - and fantastic pull from ANY rev (unlike the psycho WRX - no pull until 4k and then it tears your head off).

I'll probably go for a Lancer Ralliart once 1 year old used cars are available on the market, and until then I wanted a bit more torque from the Celi. Guess it's not gonna be that easy, or toyota already would've dont that, huh?

Thanks for the input, again, ST guys, if you could be more precise;

EXACTLY which manufacturer, model and part number intake, exhaust, voltage stabilizer.

Because I sure as hell don't want to internet order something that is quoted as a 7AFE part and is actually for the 3SGE.

Also if there are purchasable turbo kits out there, very interested.

For real? How much money and where can I order a complete DIY turbo kit?

What happens to fuel consumption and reliability?

How well does it respond at low rpm, like 1500-2500?

Etc etc . . . very interested! ! Me likey!

Hey folks, I still haven't got a new car! smile.gif (doh!)

Today I've driven by a new Mitsubishi dealership and stopped to check out the new Lancer Ralliart.

It's purrrrfect! ! !

If the new Evo X is a firebreathing golden dragon, then the baby Evo is a firebreathing golden lion.

It's a mix of the old IX and the new X, so it still has a 2.0 turbo, 4wd with active differentials front, back and middle; RF's fantastic navi-puter-music-phone system;

YET: the seats are foldable and the trunk is usable!

GO GO EVO GO!!!

(and the price is "realistic" even for serbia terms, at 32k euros - comparingly, the pure Evo X is 50+ )

Is there any (relatively) cheap way to increase low end torque on the 7AFE besides decreasing car weight?

Would an Injen intake or a K&N 57i europe kit help?

Different exhaust?

Unlike stated last year, I still have not gotten a new car, so I'd like to make the most of this one without serious mods while it's serving me.

Hi 'Fear, thanks for the help. I have a mechanic who will do the work for me, but I need a thorough shopping list since I can't buy parts for the Celica here.

Also if someone would recommend a reputable online shop that ships internationally, that would be really neat.

Since I can't buy KYB parts here I'll have to order them from the internet. It's a pain in the ass, but what can you do?

What parts do I need (besides the 2 shocks + 2 struts)? KYB website generated these results:

Parts for the front axle
Part No Part
334378 Excel-G (front right strut)
334379 Excel-G(front left strut)
365092 Excel-G(Suspension strut insert - what is this???)
RI2785 K-Flex (front axle coil spring - do I need to change springs???)
SM5164 Suspension Mounting Kit - do I need to change this??

Parts for the rear axle
Part No Part
334125 Excel-G (rear right)
334126 Excel-G (rear left)
SM5087 Suspension Mounting Kit - do I need this???

http://www.kyb-europe.com/

Are there any other parts needed? Nuts, bolts, rubber things?!

Hi if this is in the wrong part of the forum please move it.

My 1998 celica st has an air conditioning, but the unit has never been touched throughout its lifetime. It still works but the air is not true cold anymore. A slight breeze would be more like. I know that AC devices require upkeep but I am very much afraid of the domestic AC service people. Heard too many horror stories from people with ruined air conditioners. Can you please recommend exactly how the celi's AC device is maintained and how can I spot a person who actually know his/her/both job from a greedy idiot. Thank you!

Much better wheels than bbs? They're forged, no, while pretty much everybody else casts them or outsources to bbs or ssr?

Oz ultraleggera would be nice but i wouldn't trust thin cast wheels to survive our pothole and speedbump filled roads.

Hey, I have an offer for a set of 17 inch BBS RW wheels.

The asking price is 350 but I'm sure the owner would pass them on to me for 300 euros.

That's the plus side, the question remains, which tyres to get?

205/40/R17 ? Dont these cost an arm and a leg? Like 200 euros/each ?

Does anybody have experience with this? I really love the look and top notch quality of these BBS wheels but I'm not so keen on spending a small fortune on tyres.

Right now I'm running Michelin Energy + Alpins 195/65R15 on stock 6th Celica GT wheels (5 spoke).

Isn't she a beauty? wink.gif

As far as pricing goes, welcome to my world!!!

Europe is extremely weird regarding car pricing. Some countries get 1st and 2nd hard cars dirt cheap - mainly because the economy is based on people driving tons of (preferably new) cars - like UK and Germany. Then other have insane taxes and laws regarding cars. Like Finland.

...

and Serbia :: facepalm ::

Either way except in the UK where Top Gear raised its popularity the MPSs are terribly expensive.

But also consider this: you can probably get a new Evo X with premium kit for under 40k US$. For me it would be sub 60k EURO.

And it's the same car, made in the same factory and shipped the same way from Japan to everywhere else in the world.

Good thing I bought a nice bicycle this spring, I reckon it will come in handy when the above mentioned math equations artificially jack up the gas prices to 2+ euros / litre in the next couple of years.

Folks,

I've test driven a Mazdaspeed6!!! (or Mazda6 MPS as it's known in Europe).

It's very rary and unique, lightning fast, corners like on rails, HAS four wheel drive, luxurious inside, sporty yet discrete exterior, it's quiet, subtle, refined, comfortable and reliable.

But wait I think I hear the nitpick train coming!

* Bose "premium" sound system has an obsolete CD changer, but lacks MP3 support, and also lacks bass at the low end.
* Sedan (limousine) body not as practical as liftback/hatchback/caravan
* Expensive (20k euro for a 2nd hand).

But that's really just nitpicking! It's a glorious car and in the meantime, since I spent my money elsewhere, I am looking forward to working like a maniac and saving up every euro to get it anytime soon whenever the moment arrives!

I whole heartedly recommend everybody who is looking for a half way compromise between the beauty of the RX-8 and the security of a Subaru to try it out. It's in a class of its own.

Don't fix what ain't broken. The ST has already gotten fresh rims, and engine swap is not an option here due to impossible paperwork nightmares, so here are some more ideas for you my dear fellow gearheads:

Lexus IS200
Opel (vauxhall) GT/Speedster
Mazda MX5
Mazda 6 MPS/mazdasport

The options of 7th Gen T-Sport/GTS and Integura Typa L tongue.gif are getting more and more interesting for me. Too bad they are a ****ing rarity in europe (except in the UK of course, damn you and your left side driving)

The option of an Evolution 8 is very appealing as well. If I could find one :S

QUOTE (OOBE @ Sep 21, 2009 - 11:10 AM) *
From what I read, you just don't want another car.

You read wrong.

QUOTE
I mean, you feel that your ST goes like stink, when they're one of the slowest cars.

I tried to say that it goes like stink CONSIDERING IT HAS A TINY 1.8 FROM A CARINA.

Because I've tried the alltrac and I did not feel it goes fast at all. Neither the mazda. Both have much more poweful engines.

The 350Z is fast, the WRX is **** fast. I can imagine the Supra makes people **** their pants. Fantastic.

QUOTE
I say stay with it. And why you list a car that you cannot get is beyond me. Why complicate things?

Because I am obviously interested in what other people have to say about them, duhh.

I'd prefer not daydreaming about the Supra or the GT4 if in reality they have some serious drawbacks.

QUOTE
That's why you haven't gotten a reply. Stick to the point. I would get an Impreza WRX as another car. They're plenty fun, reliable, and look good with just a nice set of rims, lower suspension and a nice exhaust.

The impreza looks great outside by default, like I stated I hate how it looks on the INSIDE. And that can't be fixed with a nice set of rims or blahblahblah

QUOTE (NGHTKD @ Sep 21, 2009 - 11:32 AM) *
For you get an Integra Type R or Golf GTI.

The golf is a no go since they are targets of GTA very very often here; the Integra is good idea I have not considered it given that the Type Rs have a rep for being useless around town. There are weeks when I spend half a day stuck in downtown traffic. Nice noise isolation and a solid, comfortable interior go a long way then. How would you rate the R on the daily driver side?

QUOTE
Maybe decide what YOU actually want in a car.

Ehrm, nice looks, bulletproof reliability, great interior, superb craftsmanship and build quality, goes like stink (FOR ITS ENGINE) and corners like on rails (WHATEVER ENGINE IT HAS).

Not to be dangerous on a slippery road, not to be a general target for theft and at least Euro3 emissions so that I can import it.

I read now that I did not mention the Celica 7th gen. I was never really interested in it, but if anybody owns one a nice comparison between the 6th and 7th gen would be great. Thank you.
