Like you said, you saw one make 400hp on the dyno, on the other hand you have one with a blown piston that was probably making less then 400hp. It all reallly depends on your tuning. Invest the money there, and your setup should last a while. I hear u and agree with you on the tuning which im gonna do with thenew setup but still wanted to have an idea of where to draw the brakes but then again its too late my turbo is probably only good for around 370whp so lets @pit I hear u but when looking at the rods side by side the 4th gen do look a little less beefier but hey its a toyota engine and a 3s so i wont worry 2much ill jus try to tune safely and not get too wild Any other info out there on the limits of the 4th gen |

I have seen a dyno of a 4th gen 3s (caldina)making 400whp on stock internals. However with these things you never know how long these engines last for.My question from either personal experiemce or other persons experience .Whats the most power made on a stock bottom half 4 gen to be driven around daily without breaking I have a 4th gen and changed the pistons cause orginals cracked but didnt have the extra cash to buy forged rods.So i got some JE pistons but the 4th gen rods look so much smaller than the older mr2 and celica rods that with my new build i am deciding to build it to around 350whp and leave it there cause the rods got me nervous |

Try to start the car and u have to crank it 2 or 3 times and crank it for long. When u crank sometimes and it doesnt start it sounds like a small misfire. However when it does start its like its about to not start but then suddenly catches and starts(similar to when ur car is about to stall and u floor back the clutch to catch it and keep it alive)Now when it does start in this fashion its struggles to idle and pings for like 2 secs then it idles fine. Drove the car ,the car feels like its lacking power even tho the rev are going up.Decided to squeeze it a little to see what happens and while shifting up to 3rd the car bucks then i lose power and when u put u foot on the gas u hear like the car missing or sputtering violently then it shut off on me. Stopped tried to start it it fired up and i drove to my mech.Start up pressure on gas was 36psi while we revved it it went up to 44 clamped return line and got good pressure,so we dont think is pump, checked plugs and they looked a little lean, checked charge line no oil and check intake manifold and no oil in it either What u guys think this cud be.By the way sometimes u start it up and one crank it turns and no missing or pinging sounds like a timing issue to me. check the mechanical timing, make sure its on. then ignition timing. I was thinking the same thing however i spoke to dr tweak and he suggested looking at my grounding and funny enuff i think right after moving the battery to the back it took a little longer to start than normal but things were fine so im gonna check that out to. Also thanks again about the sb46.I bought the turbo and not the kit so ill see how it runs |

Actually dont have that but gonna try to get from the tuner.I think im gonna go with the sb46 if KORACING has any in stock. When i called friday he said on sb50 i wud have to wait till monday to find out about 46 from the supplier |

Thanks man but just a question as i think im gonna lean this side as what they describe of the turbo is what im looking for but why not a 48 hotside then wouldnt that spool me even faster and still flow up to 7000rpm a 48 hotside will choke on the topend, espcially on a 4th gen motor, which flows better than a 2nd or 3rd gen. OK one thing tho KOrACING sells the kit got any links to site that might have 46 trim as an option cause im gonna make a manifold and have wastgate already. Most sites only have as small as a 50 trim or wud u suggest i just use the 50 trim instead of trying a 46 trim? |

you want the "streetbrawler" turbo. t3/4 46 trim, .63a/r hotside. www.koracing.com is where to get it. Ok ok i see you so you saying sticking with the 63 hotside is fine just focus on the compressor wheel trim. REALLY appreaciate the link too :thumbsup:Thats what im looking for tutrbo specs specifically suiting a 3sgte.The description of the turbo in the link sounds like exactly like what a wrote |

Ok ladies and gents ive been asking the question for a while but still look for opinions to make the right choice. Engine- 4th gen 3sgte(caldina) cometic head gasket ,arp rod and main bolts, arp head studs, JE 9.1 CR pistons, 11lb flywheel, ACT 6 PUCK AND PP good for 500 lb ft Electronics-HKS EVC, GREDDY EMANAGE ULTIMATE DYNO in FWD trim STOCK on 13 psi ....245 whp 246 lbft DYNO AWD... 15 PSI.... 220 whp 223 lb/ft with emanage street tune with mods listed Plan for the car- street car for another 1 or 2 with with road racing in the future Currently car is road car and will participate in a few drag races and track days Thing is i like the feel of an aggressive low down turbo like the factory one piece tubo on now however i want to upgrade to reach around 350 whp but still get that low down feeling.I like the car responsive to me but still able to say run the quarter at 12 summin and not run out of breath.Where i live has lots of winding roads and fairly short stretches not much highway action ...so i would want summin that i can street race in and not be worrying about falling out of revs Rev limit now is 7000 rpm The question i have is what size t3/t4 fits what im looking for.Options i was considering is a 63 back housing w/stage 3 turbine and 60 trim...however i am now considering a 48AR w/stage 3 wheel and 50 trim beacause research show most suggesting 50 trims .What do you recommend cause frankly money is an option so i want 320-350 preferabbly under 20 psi boost while not over working the turbo while achieving the performance i need GARRETT IS THE ONLY OPTION AS WHAT I CAN AFFORD NOW IS 550-650 US HELP Rev limit |

So in normal driving when say i hit 4500 in 1st gear which is where my launch control set at it activates while im driving.Any info or help can be provided No help guys? |

QUOTE(celicast3sgte @ May 25, 2007 - 2:11 AM) im not totally familiar with the 4th gen but im 90% sure you have the CT20B not the CT26 and it is all 1 piece with the manifold. and the CT20b is the upgrade to the CT26. IF infact you have the ct26 ATS racing makes a modded 26 they call the "CT27" its essentially a ported CT26 with a t04 wheel inside. SO long story short if you wanna mod your turbo i think your looking at a custom manifold or one from another year possibly and a turbo swap entirely. maybe look into KO Racing for a t3/t4 turbo kit? hope this helps some thanks ive heard of that upgrade. My turbo is a one piece but the turbo found on the calinas have no name on it besides toyota.I have been told that its their ct 26. However doing research on it last night i saw this http://www.mrcontrols.com/primers/turbo.htm in essence they saw the front isnt the problem its the turbine side.I want to know if anyone just polish the front and changed the wheel what if any gains were made.Anyone with first hand experience |

Now i have a 4th gen 3sgte(caldina) it makes 245whp and 246 lb/ft of torque(fwd format) I want to polish the compressor housing of the t 26 and use a a bigger wheel which i think came out of a celica as im told one of the celica wheels is bigger than mine.(I hear my ct 26 is different from the other ct 26's).This wheel should be ok as its not a monster wheel that going break the shaft. Is this mod feasible as i hear that is the back housing is the prob with the ct 26.I want to know if ill get any power gains from these mods to the turbo heres a link of something i was rewading post any more u know of that i can read |

QUOTE(jayi12-15psi @ Nov 5, 2006 - 3:34 PM) you converted the tranny to fwd? How did you convert without losing half your hp? i am not the most technical person really but my mechanic did it http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthrea...light=converted this explains how it was done my mechanic did it about 95% exact to this(has made mnor changes or adjustments) also why would i lose hp wouldny going from4wd to fwd result in an increase of horsepower as their will be less drivetrain loss? anyway anyone knows which websites sell cusco lsd's for a good price is see prices like 700 and 800 is this reasonable |
