worst case scenario, ask your local toyota dealership if they will match the 1sttoyotaparts price. with or without shipping. Every dealer is a little different when it comes to things like that, but my local dealership takes care of me and matches the price.

Granted it is an icy snowfall very slick, and my tires are less than half tread, but for a front wheel drive car i was fairly upsetThanks

2wd just doesnt handle the snow/ice like 4wd or awd. less than half tread on all seasons isnt going to help you much in the snow. If u get stuck, just rock back and forth from 1st to reverse to 1st to reverse to get yourself some momentum. Or just drive around with a shovel and bag of kitty litter or sand.

Solaras are nice cars in fact I ended up with the celica instead of a solara. Why not get a v6 5spd and then supercharge it instead of a 5sfe powered one?

This.

There is a TRD charger for almost every Toyota engine with 6 or more cylinders.

Its not like you can walk up to your local toyota parts desk and order one. Most are discontinued. Heck even the SC for my '06 tundra was discontinued. Ebay or 3rd party manufacturers is pretty much your only choice.

Yes, you can still put sound deadening material under it. How hardcore on the diamondplating did u wanna go? Front floorboards would be pretty easy, rears would take a bit of work, but the door sills look like the biggest PITA.

Yeah, he can't do that. Theres this little box on a work order, where people sign... yeah thats not you signature on the body shop work order. It would be thrown out in court.

*edit* I still think it would be appropriate to compensate the mechanic for the timing belt job however; Yeah it took him 2 or 3 weeks, but he did do the job right?

Check your vacuum lines for cracks, or it sounds like the idle air control valve is all gunked up

Things not to cheap out on 1) tires 2) brakes 3) oil 4)critical suspension parts. Not necessarily in that order, but honestly ... try to be safe about it dude

QUOTE (supaneko @ Jul 9, 2009 - 2:41 PM) *
I drove my mother's 1990 Celica ST to my doctor's appointment without any issues. I stopped to get gas on the way and still made it there without any problems. After an hour, I jumped in and started it and and pulled up to the road to make a turn. Just as I got ready to turn the car stalled out. I went to start it back up and it just wouldn't do it. I tried a few more times to start it but no luck. The battery is fine, the alternator is new.

I moved the car out of the way and then checked the oil. NOTHING showed on the dipstick. I poured a quart and a half in and finally it registered in the middle of the dipstick. I went to start the car again and still no luck.

When I turn the key it sounds SIMILAR to a car that wants to start on a low battery. However, the sound doesn't sound the exact same to me. It's very similar but for some reason I just feel like it's "different."

Any ideas? The gentleman that towed the car home for me said he thought it sounding like the timing belt needed to be replaced. Would low oil cause this? What can I do to check what the issue is or what likely needs to be repaired?

pull off the valve cover. timing belt is on the lefthand side connected to the cam pulley.

Replacing the radiator cap would be a good idea, poor seal/ broken spring will cause it to overheat.
