im sorry... a celica is like 8k tops for a REALLY nice one... and evo or 350 is like 20k for a bottom end one... if i were you id keep the celica and and try n do some research on it. not to mention your insurance is gonna jump way up switching to either one of those cars and the gas mileage is also gonna go down.

rofl 20k for a 350z? maybe an 06 or 07... im perfectly fine with an 03-04... i can easily find a decent 350 for around 10-12k.. evo is pushing it a little i will agree there.. but i just threw that out cuz i really want one biggrin.gif

if i sold it.. probably around 4.5k... im not sure about that yet though, i haven't really analyzed what it's worth right now.

Hah! find me a 350Z for 10K and I'll buy it in a heartbeat. you might be able to find one with some miles on it and a dented quarter panel or something for like 15K if you're lucky...

around here there are 350s at smaller dealerships selling for around 12k with about 60,000 miles on them. I don't know about where you live. I would also like an SRT-4 too but there are kinda low in supply around me... don't really see many here.

stagged boost control is a common function through out turbo'd cars with the proper controllers. its a universal type deal not really car specific (though you can find car specific setup applications)

even Turboxs offers staged Manual boost controllers,
but its not very well known/used tool/setup around these parts.

oh ok, well the guy said he had to drive to ohio to get it programmed and he said the program was only for hondas so it makes sense that you have to program your standalone to have step boost ... thanks playr.

he probably ment 2 step boost. which means he can mash on the accelerator on a stop and i believe it has like a redline of xxxx rpm which then cuts ignition sooner than fuel which always a bit of fuel to go thru which gets ignited in the turbo which makes it spool off the line. however, turbos dont like combustion on its blades too well and turbos tend to not last long under this condition

na i know it's called step boost and i know what is does.. i sets certain PSI to different gears to prevent tire spins and you get better acceleration.. i was just wondering if someone knows anything about it for our cars?

i was recently talking to a co-worker who has a turbo 1.5 non v-tec del sol with 191 whp. He was talking about a program called step boost that he was going to put in his car. Has anyone ever heard of this for celicas? or is it just a honda thing?

So you gonna part It out and make some money back? Part's are hard to find for our 6gc's. And you would make a profit. What kind of car are you gonna get after the Celica If It doesnt come back to life?

I'm not sure what I'll do.. ill see if anyone wants to buy the car and if not, then maybe part it out... as for a second car.. I haven't really thought about it... I would like an Evo or maybe a 350z? .. ill have to see what prices are around here

can list some of the problems that were 'fixed' in the past?

Hmm lets see... New clutch, 2 new front wheel bearing, 2 sets of tires, alignment that tore up my tires, new muffler, cd player, air filter, new rotors, pads, brake drums, calipers, and e - brake cord, speakers .. i think there is more but i can't think of it right now...

$900 for 4 brembo blanks, 2 sets of mintex pads (front and rear), new rear calipers, new brake drums and a new e-brake cord. I was shocked too but it didn't seem as bad when i broke it down.

ahh, it's cause of the new calipers, you probably didn't need to replace them or the rear e-brake drums and cable unless they weren't working right.

well the calipers seized up and the brake drums were completely gone and mt e-brake wouldn't even hold my car when i put it up.. im just hoping my front calipers don't seize up on me now

yea i've been spending so much money on it to fix it that i don't have enough to mod it.. i was thinking of a 5sfte or a swap but everything keeps going wrong.. after spending $900 on brakes i just don't think it would be worth swapping or turboing

Well.. i bought my celica two julys ago and pretty much ever since i bought it, things have been going wrong with it. Up to date now, I've spent about $3500 to keep my car alive and drivable. Wednesday night, i was driving home around 9 PM, my car started to bogg down and idled low and didn't have much acceleration at all. My check engine light also came on and was flashing. By then, i pulled over and called my dad. My car is in the shop now and I'm sorry to say that i will be getting rid of the car if repairs are more than $300. Ive spent too much money on this car to fix it up and it never treats me right. Don't get me wrong, i love the car but i just can't afford to be putting all of this money into it while going to college. I'm just hoping that repairs aren't too expensive this time and I'll consider keeping it. Thanks for letting me rant, This has been on my mind all week and i needed to come out.

I just drove it for about 10 more minutes and now its SMOKING UP and VERY HOTT! maybe a new rotor?

that happens every time you put new pads in .. they smoke for about the first 50 miles.. i just put new rotors and pads on and the same thing happened to me.. although.. your rotor could be uneven and making it smoke because of the new pads

well... first off.. i didnt put them on.. also.. i just found out that the rotors have a special coating to keep them from rusting and that may have cause the smoking.. also.. my e -brake was tightened too much which cause it to also heat up rapidly and smoke.. they are fine now and the person who put them on said they will smoke for about the first 15 miles.. just got the car inspected and got the e brake fixed ... new brembo rotors and mintex pads biggrin.gif .. highly recommended .. stops on a dime .. thx for the answers btw

is it normal for new brake pads and rotors to smoke when you stop after you just got them put on?

i just bought some sylvania 194LL bulbs .. they are clear.. so wont that make my dash half green half white or no?

one the stock bulbs there is a green "condom" like thing that makes it light up green. you should be able to pull it off your burnt out bulb and slide it on you new one. careful cuz they can tear pretty easily biggrin.gif you may even consider just pullling the "condoms" off all of the bulbs if you do tear one.

yea i found that out yesterday.. it went pretty well.. when i got the curved part off that goes over the cluster, i found my actual cluster only had one screw holding it in.. confused.gif i guess the bulbs went before and someone already changed them before i had it and was too lazy to put all the screws back in lol.. but yea it turned out good and i took the "condoms" off and now my cluster looks like a bright light orange.. i think it looks cool.. i may invest in some LED's now that i know i can successfully take apart my cluster without hassle now
