I think this is hard issue everone has said what the problem could be and there all right.I think you need to go through one problem at a time. your saying there a shift problem which can only be coming from the tranny area which mean check ever cable and wire that runs to the tranny.see if there any break in the wire. Also you said speed level does not move.there a speed sensor on the tranny that control that.Example to answer your two week ago.I put in a used tranny from japan shop it was test and warranty I install the tranny and one week later it went on me.I put another tranny from the same place no problems now.from what you say with it going in neutral I had the same problem with my oringal tranny and then one day tranny just would go in reverse.I think it sign of the tranny ready to go.check fluids and see if there enough in the tranny get the code to find you what they are. second this could be a wire problem said by the last person where there is so many place to look where it would be hard to explain where it is.it could be the wire harnes it could be the computer it could be a fuse going off.where everything could be fine and one drop of water on a wire that is cut or broken the car will act werid. third you have to understand this is a 10 years old car or less mean who ever paint it could have paint over a good ground connection or bend the wire and put them back in and there your problem. To finish off take to someone who know something about car I think personnal this is something that a master toyota tech should look over the car or spend money rebuild the celica or get another one. I hope this help and but judge where you live it burea right is there a toyota place to take it to. well good luck and hope you solve the problem |

I only know of one that on the firewall and I would not play with either of them unless I had a fuel problem. At work Toyota sent us something say only change fuel filters if there a fuel problem because it is easy to break the fuel lines. the only thing I know that in the gas tank is the fuel pump.If there is not fuel problem leave it alone. |

I would take it toyota and have a master tech look at it,they will only charge like 30 buck to run the overdrive light.other then that from what I am reading the wire harnes is the problem.Spend a little money bring it to toyota and go from there. From what you been saying everyone has said the same thing.I am going to say something wrong with the wire harnese wire was put on wrong and fry something.scan tool will only tell what code it giveing which is the first step I beat it going to say soliend 1,2,3 which leads to someone said let a tranny tech look at it. being honest take it to a toyota master tech and explain what happen and go from there. |

wow that a cool topic to talk about, well it going to take a whole lot of money and all the stuff your going to throw into going to blow the motor because that camary motor real not made for raceing. Now if your talking about mr 2 that could be close. It a good idea, getting a super charager or turbo will help.I would get a high performance motor and tranmission in order to get to wear you are.You could swap the motor to a v6 camry motor.I read some add v6 to mr2.I think the highest you will get that car to is about 300 hp anything else will blow the motor.even with the trd kit they have for the celica it get more horse power but not enough to beat a supra.Good luck though |

your overdrive light is blinking because it give you a tranny code,I would look it up see what it is I think someone should have a code list. second issue sounds like a miss connection somewhere. I would have a tech look at it and then take it back to the place you paint and say my car work fine when I brought it in now it not. either make them fix the problem or have they pay your local tech to fix it. This is a long shot your said it drive normal the next day did at any time did just not move when you press on the gas? I would check that code it could be a soloiend code that they could of unplug one or both of them. like the other person said it not injection problem. get a flashlight and look down where the tranny dipstick rod start (only name I could think of) there will be three connection down there one in the middle and two behind it the one behind are your soliend cables check to see if not unplug. Hope this help just going by what happen with my old tranny |

I would buy toyota cables also because toyota make all there prouducts just for toyota. unless your race your celica go with the more expence stuff. Just drive for fun and to work stick with Toyota plugs and wires. answer pure dx I can look it up tomorrow but Ngk is a lot more then toyota spark plugs. If they are then why not buy toyota spark plugs if Ngk make them for toyota |

just not very good at type well I put another transmission in and so far running fine. yes I check all what you list nothin wrong with the wire or the solenoid. because when I remove the wire there a transmission code which would apply the computer is working. cable was in right postionI just think bad luck or wrong transmission. I will post again if the issue come up |

yea that was going to be my next question but wannabe answer it A140e is mine because it a camary motor in Gt wannabe thank for the link it the same at work. I don't think it the torgue converter because if that was the case the car would not move at all. I toke out the solenoid connector that go to the transmission and shift fine manual.if the torgue converter was bad it would not move in any gear I will be putting other transmission in tomorrow and see how it runs. |

hi That was going to be my idea next after put the new transmission in. Yes I am a tech at Toyota. Which if was a connection problem or broken wire the o/d light would give a code 42 or 43 bad solenid. no code shows. I check the wire there are not burn mark on the wire or any cut or damage. My next is get volt meter and follow the wire to see if current is going there or not. |

HI I am new to the site and work at Toyota and working on my 95 celica and have some trouble with the transmission. With my oringal automatic Transmission it was work fine but one day it just would not go into gear at all I would accerlate and the car would not move just the rpm. If I turn the car off and then on again it would be fine for one or two miles then do the same thing. After doing that for about 15 miles the transmission would not go in drive only ine reverse. So I get a used transmissions inport from japan from a company here in the us 40k miles 6 month unlimtied mile warranty Install the transmission everything was fine for one day.then the same problem happen again like I said above. So I remove the soliend wires so I can run it like a maunal runs ok but if I go higher then 60 miles per hour the rpm are going almost to four thousand. Also will not go in reverse so I know I need to put another transmission in the celica. I which i got at work for the company who I bought the transmission from gave me another. I am wonder if anyone has had this problem or have any idea on why it would do this just bad luck same problem with two transmissions. Could it be something different. |
