White looks alright, but gold/bronze looks the best on a white car. IMO.

edit: Whoops, this thread was kind of old. Sorry

Yes im starting to fall for the bronze look, Im thinking of getting some bronze 18's in the future, does anyone have any recommendations? I have heard of some people having problems with wheels clearing the st205 calipers

taht looks pretty good....you should also take a look into seeing how black rims would look

Im not a big fan of black rims on a white car, it looks good on a red or yellow though. Bronze could look good with white, does anyone here have bronze rims on a white 6th gen?

You don't need special paint, just use the same stuff you would use to spray any car panel. They aren't large parts so probably 1 can of colour and 1 can of clear should do.

The gelcoat should be fairly smooth anyway, but make sure it is with some 1200 wet n dry.
Usually 2 or 3 light coats of colour is good enough to cover. (as long as you cannot see the colour of the gelcoat through it. If you can then give it another coat.) You might need a primer to cover the grey first, 1 or 2 coats will do.

Usually you want to be allowing about 10 minutes between coats of colour/colour or clear/clear and about an hour between the colour and the first clear.

Just wet n dry it before any painting, you shouldn't need to sand the paint at all. Maybe give it a light wet n dry with 2000 a week after painting. Then polish it back up with some polishing compound after sanding.

Theres a few painting technique guides on here, so have a look and just do the same as you would for spraying a panel.

If I've missed anything, then I'm sure someone will correct me.

Hope it helps.

Dan

Hey thanks for your help, that was exactly the kind of guide I was looking for! I am also going to repaint my Rims white, I will post some pics when it is all done.

I recently got some front and rear splitters for my GT4, I managed to source these from an auction website for $140 NZ, so I am very happy with the price

Anyway I want to try spraypainting these myself over Christmas, currently they are painted in a gray gelcoat. This will be my first time painting fibreglass, does anyone have any general tips? for example how many coats should I apply, what grit sandpaper I should use to prep it, and what would be the best paint and clearcoat to use. (My GT4 is white.) Any help would be much appreciated.

nice 6thgen! Any plans for performance mods? Post some pics of the 5th gen!

I might take some pics of the 5th gen tonight, Im planning some performance mods for the 6th gen, Just want to get the body sorted out first. Thats why I decided to keep both GT-4's, I use the 5th gen as a daily driver.

I feel sorry for you guys in the US not getting the ST205, they are getting quite cheap here in NZ. This one was $11000, and I am the first NZ owner (it was imported by a caryard from Japan) this would be $7,383.69 in US dollars

Hi Everyone, thought I would run a bit of an introduction as a new member. I currently own two celica GT4's, one 5th gen and a 6th gen that I brought last month. I live in NZ and found this one for a quite good price. I want to do some body modifications to it, as it only has the sideskirts on it at the moment. I am thinking of buying this front lip for it http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-71635256.htm
Plus get some factory end caps for it, like these ones. http://paoron.jp/celica/back.jpg
I am having some trouble finding the end caps, does anyone have a toyota part number for the ones in the picture?
Im looking forward to contributing to this community in the future, finally here are some pictures of my new GT4, let me know what you guys think!
